I think the funniest thing with Zacian in unite (and to the same extent mewtwo) is that they just gave up on trying to balance them and just banned them from ranked
Zacian truly was able to be the strongest in its prime, even surpassing mega rayquaza and the bike dragons, but alas that did not last as the nerf hammer hit it this gen. At least Zacian is still a dominant threat in Ubers now without being broken anymore
Miraidon is a bigger treat there are no safe switch in electro drift easily 2 hit KO Blissey and since it use special attack it don’t care about burn and intimidate & resisting the paralyze due to electric type, even Mega rayquaza was more versatile than zacian, it can delete the weather yet can run special and mix set.
The funny thing about the Hero (non-Steel) form being broken in gen 8 is that the mon has the exact same stat distribution with Zamazenta's Hero form, yet one of them is broken and the other is useless in Ubers but still too strong for OU. The main difference between the two is typing, ability, and set-up moves. 1) Mono-Fairy >>> Mono-Fighting 2) +1 Attack on Switch-in >>> +1 Defense on Switch-in 3) Swords Dance >>> Iron Defense & Howl These traits are still true in gen 9. Zacian-Hero is now useless in Ubers (largely thanks to being outclassed by its Crowned form) but a meta defining mon in Ubers UU, while Zamazenta-Hero is now down in OU (although it is strong in OU and better than pre-gen 8 Kyurem-Black).
somebody experiencing the restricted format for the first time: ''wow, i get to use the legendaries? i can't wait to see all of the cool new strategies they'll bring! maybe they'll even help some lesser used pokemon and give them niches!'' zacian-crowned while sharpening his (intrepid) sword overhearing the fool:
I love how the only game where zacian isn't op is in masters where it's very mid despite not being in the common lootbox tables but if you want it to be decent you need to basically pay to win
In an alternate universe, primals are allowed past Gen 7, so Groudon is Zacian's hard counter. Would be curious to see how busted Zacian is with PDon around, but also curious how the format changes since Primal reversion technically doesn't count as using a generation mechanic.
This has somewhat been done in National Dex Ubers. The problem there is then you get Swords Dance + Tera Blast Ground sweeper sets that will just run through PDon like everything else. A more consistent check has been Ho-oh, still resisting both steel and fairy and not being too worried about Wild Charge.
Zacian and Zamazenta might be the two most lopsided box legendaries. Even worse this happens in a game where the rival gets the other box legend. Like; Shield is categorically a harder game than Sword. [Aside from the fact the alternate gyms are also harder...] because Hop gets fucking Zacian.
I ran Vileplume to stuff this bastard. *Vileplume!* It could tank a hit and spam strength sap while tagging it with infestation. Effect spore made it a living hell to fight and because so many people would just brainlessly press the "win" button, they'd get stuck and lose that stupid, stupid, dog. They gave sword dog the best typing combination, insane coverage, and a blatant power-creep of an ability, and they don't even bother touching up regigigas.
People often say that Gen 5 is when GAME FREAK's design philosophy started to faulter but personally Zacian is the pinnacle. I hate this Pokémon. GAME FREAK basically gave it the best typing in the whole franchise while also giving it the best stats in the game. Legendary Pokémon are meant to be strong but this felt more like overkill. People often chuckle and giggle that Quagsire was the only good counter for it in Anything Goes but it only illustrates just how horrible of a time it was to even deal with it that a low-tier Pokémon was peoples stop gap just because it had Unaware. If you wanted, you could even run a sun setter so Zacian could run Solar Blade to defeat quagsire. I get its hard to design and balance over on thousand Pokémon but personally this is the best example of GAME FREAK being really tone deaf. Knowing them if they ever gave him an hidden ability it'd be something like Regenerator or Adaptability.
mewtwo is def up there, but it's not too much for ubers (is broken as fuck tho) and we don't have doubles at all. it's in contention but personally i think zacian-c and mega-ray are above it@@Latias38
@@ElectricWindGirlFriend I mean, the main reason it was allowed in gen 1 ubers was because ubers was literally just "OU, now with Mew and Mewtwo". It is not an exaggeration to say there would be no gen 1 ubers tier without those 2. Unsure how it compares in terms of reletive power levels, as the formats are just incomparable, but banning Mewtwo from gen 1 ubers never has and never will make sense because it's what separates the tier from OU.
Zacian is a Pokémon that I respect because I could not get out of the normal tier of gen 8 mostly because there was very little you could do to stop zacian from sweeping an entire team.
I remember how much of a pain in the ass Zacian was on release in Unite, and the first Crisheroes video he posted on it. Make a Kazuya in Smash video talking about how batshit insane he is.
You guys don’t even get it, Zacian Crown in Balanced Hackmons gen9 (even with the nerf) was far far beyond what AG. It didn’t need the rusted sword, Tera existed, and it had some narly sets. Contrary V-create, super power, bitter blade and gigaton hammer with covert cloak and Tera fire, or the classic of just adaptability and gigaton hammer, it was a powerhouse that only the likes of Primal Groudon could stand up to. My favourite personal set was a sharpness set with Tera fire, Bitter blade, behemoth blade, leaf blade and victory dance.
As a Unite player I have severe Zacian-related trauma that I don't think I will ever recover from. Same with the rest of the playerbase (Edit: grammar)
i do personally think kyogre deserves that award personally, not since it's better than zacian or anything but because it was released in gen 3 and is still like a top 10 pokemon 20 years later
To be fair, even though its still insane The intrepid sword nerf really brought it down to earth a little bit, couple it with the fact that it really cant hold an item made it much easier to deal with in the Ubers tier, where I'd say I'd much rather have one of the Dons instead of zacian in my team. EDIT: Also let me mention that Koraidon and Miraidon's abilities are pretty much pre-nerf intrepid sword on steroids. Both give life orb boost to the pokemon, -albeit a bit weaker than intrepit sword-, not to mention that miraidon also receives another 1.3x boost on its stab electric move and koraidon gets 1.5x boost on its already 1.3x boosted flare blitz, however they also benefit the team by boosting paradox mons. Honestly Game freak has been really adamant on making a new most broken pokemon ever every generation after gen 6 with mega ray to necrozma to zacian to now these two.
My real big criticism with Mirai/Koraidon isn't even really with the mons themselves; it's that the abilities for all the past/future paradox mons seem... completely one-sided. Like, they absolutely just forgot that Electric terrain / terrain setters in general are *much* rarer than weather setters and that the buffs they provide to their respective types aren't equal. While past paradox mons have the choice between Koraidon, Ninetails, Groudon and Torkoal, future paradox mons have Miraidon or.... Pincurchin. That's it. No Koko this gen, so we don't even get a reasonable alternative to Miraidon... They also failed to account for the damage buff discrepancy between weather's 1.5 vs. terrain's 1.3... It's like they just forgot that they're completely different mechanics and don't provide the same kind of buffs. I'm glad Miraidon and Koraidon have these abilities because they benefit MASSIVELY from it themselves; but they're intentionally designed to work in tandem with the other paradox mons of their "eras", but Miraidon's are objectively worse. It's such a shame.
@@K8aclysm terrain weather discrepancy isnt really a point tbh, flare blitz isnt stab while electro drift is, when you calculate the damages they roughly end up being the same damage.
Fun Fact: Zacian in Pokemon Unite had a bug where its Sacred Sword attack would ignore 100% Defense instead of 30%. meaning it was fully possible for a well placed Zacian to 1 Shot the entire enemy team in the blink of an eye with a boosted Sacred Sword, the usage rates of Pokemon capable of shutting down singular targets like Slowbro skyrocketed to counter Zacian's reign of terror. Ironically, these same pokemon were Zacian's greatest companions as they could shut down anything that posed a threat to Zacian. To this day, even after many many nerfs, Zacian can still shred an uncoordinated team easily and by teaming up with its fellow EX category Pokemon, Mewtwo and Miraidon. the Trio can be near unstoppable and nearly impossible to defeat unless you have a mirror matchup or are in a coordinated team
Redesigning modern legendaries as if they're gen 4/5 pokemon Zacian: Intrepid sword replaced by Hyper Cutter Zamazenta: Dauntless Shield replaced by Battle Armor Koraidon: Orichalcum Pulse replaced by Mold Breaker Miraidon: Hadron Engine replaced by Motor Drive
I never undestood why GF decided to make this monstrosity. It doesn't even make sense lore wise. Arceus is the god of the universe, so ok, I guess. Rayquaza kinda has to keep the whole planet safe from both outer threats like Deoxys, meteors and shit, and also both Kyogre and Groudon, so ok, I guess. Ultra Necrozma is something of an Arceus from another dimension, and it needs both to absorb another legendary and equip a Z crystal to reach that power. Eternatus is something of a cosmic threat and tbh it's Eternamax form can't be used (I never understood this, they could have made a balanced version. It makes no fucking sense that the mon that created Dmax can't use it), so ok. Calyrex is a king of sorts, can't access it's full power without a honse, and mechanically it wasn't until tera came out that Calyrex became the ultimate mon with the aid of the generational mechanic. You know, it kinda makes sense that the pokémon that are described by the lore to be HIM, end up as so. But Zacian is flawless by design; humongous bst, highly optmized distribution, arguably the best typing in the game, a fucked up ability that before the g9 nerf could abuse Neutralizing Gas coming in and out for boosts without using turns, incredible movepool with the ONLY caveat of not having Leaf Blade even though it's thematically fitting, an attack that abuses the generational mechanic where it was released in, the hero form can use scarf to be EVEN faster, and the crowned form has the only weak point of not being able to hold an item (even though this also means knock off is useless against it)... And what's Zacian lore? Oh, just one of the two heroic dogos that, with the aid of another two pokémon, managed to beat Eternamax. Why, then, is this thing the biggest mechanical flex that Game Freak has ever put out? It's not used for a lot of promotion, and it's not even a particularily cool looking pokémon; just a blue dog with wing looking armor and a sword in it's mouth. Looks like a Digimon, ngl. And that's without mentioning the travesti that Zamazenta is. One of the worst cover legendaries ever made, even though it has the same colossal bst. What were they smoking?
why did this dog have to ruin every single meta that it touches Fun fact about Unite Zacian: The most recent balance patch actually buffed its attack stat so it now has more attack than what it had before nerfs if it reaches Level 15! And somehow, it's probably the least overpowered of the EX Pokemon that are currently in the game.
@@webbowser8834 The bigger issue with Zama besides the fact that Zacian got the better typing by _far_ is that its support/setup movepool is absolutely wretched. Why does a defensive mon only have _Rest_ for recovery? No Recover? No signature move that restores HP based on damage dealt? No King's Shield?
@@Bluecrimson217 That's fair, there's a ton of ways Zamazenta could/should have been stronger in Gen 8. That being said, the fighting type move that was tailor made for high defense fighting type mons not being given to the defensive fighting type box legendary is still a massive oversight. I will say that being defensive without reliable recovery isn't a death sentence in ubers provided you're bulky enough and have good offensive utility. Giratina-Origin is a phenominal defensive mon checking dangerous mons like E-Killer and Kyogre, and it can't even hold lefties.
It will be funny when there's 6 pokemon like Mega Ray and Zacian that are banned from Ubers, because at that point you could have a playable tier where every team is made up of the same 6 pokemon.
Soon when the bike dragons probably get banned. Miraidon might still banned this Sunday and koraidon shortly later. It would be so funny to use this team of 6, where matches would legit be luck based on speed toes and crits and end in seconds

@@arachnofiend2859 its only been out ~2 years, and there are still active updates etc ! theres still potential (though the latest season is Rough). they recently released a feedback survay too, and they do usually listen to those
I think the funniest thing with Zacian in unite (and to the same extent mewtwo) is that they just gave up on trying to balance them and just banned them from ranked
1) Mono-Fairy >>> Mono-Fighting
2) +1 Attack on Switch-in >>> +1 Defense on Switch-in
3) Swords Dance >>> Iron Defense & Howl
These traits are still true in gen 9. Zacian-Hero is now useless in Ubers (largely thanks to being outclassed by its Crowned form) but a meta defining mon in Ubers UU, while Zamazenta-Hero is now down in OU (although it is strong in OU and better than pre-gen 8 Kyurem-Black).
if shield doggo had a better def typing and reliable recovery, I think it would do better. At least it gets body press.
It's the video I laughed at the most from this channel, jesus christ I love the interesting but still fun content. Love you man
somebody experiencing the restricted format for the first time: ''wow, i get to use the legendaries? i can't wait to see all of the cool new strategies they'll bring! maybe they'll even help some lesser used pokemon and give them niches!''
zacian-crowned while sharpening his (intrepid) sword overhearing the fool:
2:57 Zacian V was actually part of a deck called “ADP Zacian” which essentially dominated early sword and shield formats and was a tier 0 deck.
I was playing TCG at the time and I HATED ADP
Tag team ADP + Zacian v was actually some of the nastiest shit, once your standard deck is slappping up EXPANDED decks you know there’s a problem.
Poor Zamazenta had to be punished because of the crimes against competitive that his older sister committed :(
Good news, zamazenta has now gained body press and has even overtaken zacian in usage.
As a unite player watching as a squad of Mewtwo, Miraidon and Zacian roll up into a match is actually horrifying
actually zamu is really good now, it got that move which deals dmg based on defense.
I love how the only game where zacian isn't op is in masters where it's very mid despite not being in the common lootbox tables but if you want it to be decent you need to basically pay to win
The dog saw that regidraco got let off free despite their brother's reign, so zacian made zamazenta get nerfed too, just to spite them
In an alternate universe, primals are allowed past Gen 7, so Groudon is Zacian's hard counter. Would be curious to see how busted Zacian is with PDon around, but also curious how the format changes since Primal reversion technically doesn't count as using a generation mechanic.
Just imagine the doggo as a replacement of Xerneas.
Next could be gen 1 Mewtwo, THE strongest pokémon of all time. Highest special stat, second highest speed stat and amazing coverage.
25% crit rate
Zacian and Zamazenta might be the two most lopsided box legendaries. Even worse this happens in a game where the rival gets the other box legend.
Like; Shield is categorically a harder game than Sword. [Aside from the fact the alternate gyms are also harder...] because Hop gets fucking Zacian.
the fact that they gave it the fairy type too
if you really think about it, design wise it could have just been pure steel type
They gave sword dog the best typing combination, insane coverage, and a blatant power-creep of an ability, and they don't even bother touching up regigigas.
had to check if I was accidentally watching the vid on 1.5x speed
1:52 i think i might have missed the incineroar fucking challenge in my playthrough
WAIT, WHATS GOING ON IN THE ARENA- BAW GAWD, ITS QUAGSIRE WITH A ROCKY HELMET!!!
Poor Zamazenta...
koraidon does have a +1 attack boost on switch though. it even applies it to all your other fire types and paradoxes
But can’t that be countered by other terrain, ie miraidon
We all know the real strongest Pokémon is Dudunsparce
Zacian is broken as Ogerpon. That last one is a menace but Zacian is much more
Never thought id say this about a power point, but that was great.
That dog in unite was crazyyyyy, most broken character ever
Ive seen this guy get stomped by tempt6 with the “RUH ROH” meme bit so many times im not afraid of it anymore
Zacian: I fear no man, but that thing...
[cut to Incin]
... it scares me.
I feel like Mega Rayquaza might be better. I guess we’ll have to wait and see once Legends Z-A comes out.
mega-ray is imo the big contender for highest peak. it was also AG and was also insane in vgc so they're pretty similar in that sense.
@@ElectricWindGirlFriend But can both of these mons hold a candle to Gen 1 Mewtwo?
mewtwo is def up there, but it's not too much for ubers (is broken as fuck tho) and we don't have doubles at all. it's in contention but personally i think zacian-c and mega-ray are above it@@Latias38
@@ElectricWindGirlFriend I mean, the main reason it was allowed in gen 1 ubers was because ubers was literally just "OU, now with Mew and Mewtwo". It is not an exaggeration to say there would be no gen 1 ubers tier without those 2.
Unsure how it compares in terms of reletive power levels, as the formats are just incomparable, but banning Mewtwo from gen 1 ubers never has and never will make sense because it's what separates the tier from OU.
yeah def. mewtwo is a super acceptable answer to the strongest pokemon.@@webbowser8834
was the video made before wide guard body press zamazenta was a thing
Zacian is a Pokémon that I respect because I could not get out of the normal tier of gen 8 mostly because there was very little you could do to stop zacian from sweeping an entire team.
I remember how much of a pain in the ass Zacian was on release in Unite, and the first Crisheroes video he posted on it.
Make a Kazuya in Smash video talking about how batshit insane he is.
So does that make Zacian the overdog and Incineroar the undercat? Thats a twist on a trope if I ever saw one.
Ive seen this pokemon beaten enough times by temp9 to know that very few people know how to use this pokemon properly
Bro was OP in nearly every its featured in.
Same with the rest of the playerbase
(Edit: grammar)
They took all the power Zamazenta should have had and gave it to Zacian.
As a Unite player that lived through Zacian's reign of terror, I can confirm I hate it passionately.
i feel like pokemon unite zacian can also be mentioned here. very powerful, usually banned in fan tournaments, later nerfed but still fairly good
Its base attack was nerfed in gen 9 to 150
Zacian: Barks
Community: Instant trauma
i do personally think kyogre deserves that award personally, not since it's better than zacian or anything but because it was released in gen 3 and is still like a top 10 pokemon 20 years later
Is because of THIS i always picks Zacian in my team for competitive
Tera eletric air ballon shedninja has been really quiet since this video came out
In relation to Unite, Zacian is still very broken but they recently Miraidon which is currently king.
The fact that Zacian is always S+ tier in Pokemon Unite too.............
Redesigning modern legendaries as if they're gen 4/5 pokemon
Zacian: Intrepid sword replaced by Hyper Cutter
Zamazenta: Dauntless Shield replaced by Battle Armor
Koraidon: Orichalcum Pulse replaced by Mold Breaker
Miraidon: Hadron Engine replaced by Motor Drive
At least Zacian isn't in smash as a playable character.
it was also op in pokemon go apparently, though this is only conjecture and would like to confirm this if true
I feel like they only made Behemoth Blade stronger against dynamax Pokémon to make the final battle against Big Hand Eternatus™ work
According to Bulbapedia, this isn't true as both Behemoth Blade and Behemoth Bash do not receive their respective bonuses against Eternamax Eternatus.
I wanna see zacian crowned fight gen 6 or 7 mega ray. The V-create gon be nasty on that one 🔥🔥
why did this dog have to ruin every single meta that it touches
Fun fact about Unite Zacian: The most recent balance patch actually buffed its attack stat so it now has more attack than what it had before nerfs if it reaches Level 15! And somehow, it's probably the least overpowered of the EX Pokemon that are currently in the game.
I played Zacian in my stall deck in the TCG as a draw engine literally
Power Point about Calyrex Shadow next
clodsire says palestinian rights are human rights!!
true!!
Yeah Zacian was crazy overpowered lmao
I still say that Gen 1 mewtwo is stronger, but mostly thanks to the circumstances of its birth back then
Everyone's favorite sword doggo
PRAISE THE LORD 🙏🙏🙏
CLODSIRE HAS RETURNED TO US WITH THEIR KNOWLEDGE
Now I want a video on how badly they fumbled the bag with Zamazenta
The fact Zamazenta didn't get body press in gen 8 baffles me to this day. Like they fixed it, and that's cool, but man what a fumble.
It would be so funny to use this team of 6, where matches would legit be luck based on speed toes and crits and end in seconds
is it as good in showdown or was it perhaps designed with a full dex in mind?
Zama's nuts but in singles I'm still voting for gen 1 Mewtwo.
Miraidon and Basculegion would like to have a word.
I love ditto, power creep makes him better
Pokemon UNITE laughing at corner
I will die on the hill that Gen 1 Mewtwo was the strongest mon ever created at its time, but I get the sentiment. Zacian-C getting everything it could ever want as a physical sweeper made it too strong. Imagine how bad it would be if they buffed Play Rough accuracy!
yeah gen 1 mewtwo is up there for sure. that could def be the pick.
@@ElectricWindGirlFriend The bigger thing about Gen 1 Mewtwo is that the competition just wasn't there at all.
I’ve been waiting for this
I don't know, I still feel like Mega-Ray is stronger, but maybe it is not really a mon.
