- Bailey and Venus try to figure out who's the good cop and who's the bad cop when it comes to slapping a little sense into Johnny Fever a/k/a Rip Tide. For more info, please visit www.shoutfactory.com or www.trunkworthy.com.
Was and still is , one of the best sitcoms of all time . Some of the subject matter that they covered was very ground breaking for the time and could walk that fine line between comedy and sorrow like no other show.
Proving as well how underrated an actor Howard Hesseman is.
Lol. Yeah he really nailed that scene.
He was good in Police Academy 2 and Clue
Great series, and, hey... Johnny is wearing a jacket with The Silver Surfer on it! Yayy!!!
Oh my god, Bailey was so hot. I was so much in love with her when WKRP was in prime time tv.
Amen!
Unfortunately, she was a pretty bad actress. She tended to sound like an 8-year-old in a school play.
I met her in person...I didn't even know it was her at the time.
I was a Baily guy too.
I was a Bailey over Jennifer every time! Mary Ann over Ginger every time. The beautiful girl next door will always win against the pretty shiny plastic doll on stilettos.
You were the hot cop.
The woman from the Gotta Dance show seemed really catty with Bailey, probably because of how attractive Bailey is.
Bob Newhart's wife on "Newhart" , Mary Frann
Johnny always had a thing for Bailey. The woman with Johnny here said that he'd talked about Bailey. She likely picked up that he still had a thing for her.
That's the late Mary Frann, Bob's wife from Newhart!
@@ChromeDestiny You mean she's mad because Bailey has class and she doesn't?
No, it's not because Baily is beautiful. It's because of territory. Avis is using Johnny for her own interests, and Baily, who sees what's happening and actually cares for John, is communicating that she knows and will defend him.
All that was said in a span of seconds. We women may not communicate effectively with our men, but with each other, we are masters.
Riptide does give a good life lesson - when you gotta dance, you gotta dance!
On a very special WKRP In Cincinnati.
WOW!! We all were so nice and thin back then. Now we are round, with hair and thick. Good times.
The late Mary Frann
Yes, I just saw her the other day when I watched the classic Newhart finale again.
She was later on Newhart.
That woman was on Newhart Bob's wife
I remember thinking OMG DR Johnny Fever had gone disco! The world is coming to an end! LOL
Johnny Fever was to Riptide what Latka Gravas was to Vic Ferrari.
I need the black and rainbow jacket
I want... NEED those pants!!! 😃
I think I like Venus' jacket.
The best acting Howard Hessman did on this show was when Johnny Fever finally broke free of Rip Tide later in this episode when talking to Jennifer.
As much as I love Rock and Roll, and as much as I hate Disco, I want those pants!
I want the jacket, because of the Silver Surfer.
What season and what episode is this from?
I remember Howard Hesseman in the movie Billie Jack, playing the liberal hippy.
I remember how much of a hero I thought Billie Jack was.
But I look back on that movie now and I liked some of the idealism in it, but I know the anti war movement was wrong and the idealism was naïve.
I have the benefit of hindsight. The boat people from SE Asia, the refugee camps in Thailand, the reeducation camps, the rise of the Khmer Rouge and the Pathet Lao, the Killing Fields of Cambodia, it could have all been prevented if we had been willing to do what was necessary. Risk the intervention of China, and the USSR.
Remember the words of President John F Kennedy, "Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
This much we pledge--and more."
Well we didn't keep that promise, we did not support and honor our dead President and we abandoned the ideas he espoused. We did not abandon them in the because of the rightness of Communist Totalitarian ideas, but because of the selfishness to our own cowardly hedonisms desires.
Millions died and millions more fled because we were not willing to live up to the ideas of John F Kennedy.
Ummm, ‘Kay.
What do you mean the anti war movement was wrong? We were told that if Vietnam was allowed to be communist we would be next. Well we lost that war, Vietnam remained communist, and we didn’t become communist (yet). Therefore all of those guys died for nothing.
@@boataxe4605 Obviously you have not been paying attention to politics recently, particularly since the Obama regime. Marxism, particularly in the reincarnation of the Frankfurt school's, Post Modernism, Identity Politics, and CRT, is still with us and gaining ground among the current walking dead of the Woke generation. Marxist under the cover of Identity Politics, and Democratic Socialism is alive and well. If you have not noticed their tactics are the same as the Maoist Red Guard and Bolsheviks. Violence, vandalism, threats and intimidation, with the backing of the MSM and the Left against whoever stands up for individual liberty. We may not be Communist "YET!!!!", but if the Left gets their way a Orwellian Dystopia is heading your way, so enjoy it.
Though as you say Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos are now Communist. They are also economically impoverished and backward. Vietnam is the only real economic power of the three and like China. Its economic power is due to the poverty, cheap labor, and the Communist policies of their governments. The economic position of Vietnam today, is where they could have been in the early 1980's. If not for the failure of US domestic opinions to grasp what was at stake during Vietnam. Vietnam today would be more closely to matching economically South Korea. Instead of being the cheap labor source for global business. For years Vietnam has virtually begged for better relationships with the US. A relationship they could have had if not for trying to force Communism on their neighbors. North Vietnam funneled arms, training, and support to the Khmer Rouge and the Pathet Lao, from the USSR and Communist China. But that bite them in the ass didn't, their Khmer Rouge allies turned against them. Funny the Communist were united while we were involved in Vietnam. But old hatreds resurfaced, the Khmer Rouge aligned with China and Vietnam with the USSR. Tens of thousand of Vietnamese soldiers died fighting their Communist ally the Khmer Rouge. You got to love karma.
As far as the men and women from the US, South Korea, Australia, Philippines, Thailand, who fought and died in South Vietnam dying for nothing. I would have to say they bought time and weakened Communist in Vietnam. While they were fighting in Vietnam buying time, the Communist insurgent wars in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Africa, and Latin America were also being fought by US allies and many of the Communist movements were ended. The Vietnam War was just one theater in the Cold War. Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos were just one set of battles in a global Cold War between the US, USSR, and China
The people who died fighting the Communist. Died trying to prevent the fall of the Republic of Vietnam, the rise of the Pathet Lao, and the genocide of the Khmer Rouge. They died trying to prevent 20 years of refugees from Vietnam, Lao, and Cambodia fleeing the Communist Regimes that came to power.
You may say they died for nothing. You can say that the US politicians and Pentagon failed to properly explain what was at stake and the execute a sound strategy for victory.
But at least those men and women tried to prevent it.
Yes, the anti war movement was wrong....
The anti war movement was a bunch of college students and Leftist activists who didn't want their middle and upper class lives interrupted by going to Vietnam for a bunch backward stupid Asian peasants. There was no greater moral motivation, just selfishness.
The US political and military elites certainly have blood on their hands, particularly due to their failed strategy.
But the anti war movement has blood on their hands as well. The anti war movement is guilty of all the deaths and suffering of the people in the reeducation camps, executions, genocide, refugees fleeing the Communist from the fall of Saigon to now. They are accountable for the material and economic suffering of the people of South East Asia for the last 47 years, because their selfish actions led to a Communist victory.
It is better to die fighting for liberty than kneel in submission.
That's some hardcore hypocrisy there.
@@moishepinkhus5854 Yes, the Left is always hypocritical and always wrong.
That's one dark hallway.
Was Disco considered evil at this point in history?
When this episode of "WKRP In Cincinnati" aired in 1981, Disco was considered to be "dead and gone". However, the name of the music genre was changed from "Disco" to "Dance" in 1980. I'm 47 now, and I grew up listening to Disco! It's my favorite music genre, and I'm not ashamed to admit it!
We (and by we, I am referring to almost every rock & roll enthusiast) had saying back then. “Disco Sucks”.
@@sbsdc A lot of it was thinly veiled racism and homophobia
@@brockreynolds870
And a lot more of it was just that that music sucked.
@@marywealth6475 You go girl.
Get rid of all the subtitles etc.. I mean... c'mon.
Nice wild outfit
