The announcers like Ricky Carmichael and Blair need to do a better job at giving some recognition to the guys who travel across the country and their vans and a lot of times they are their own mechanics and they do a lot of work. If Tomac was on a privateer bike it would be a different story so when I hear guys like Sexton complaining that he got third place and he made a mistake Cry Me a freaking River Sexton should be super proud and thankful for what he has. The real spirit is the privateers but all the money is in the factory guys so they get all the fame and all the recognition and it's simply not fair but understandable
So yes next time you're in the pits go see these guys I've been going to Supercross since 1995 and love talking to these guys they are amazing and passionate and hard-working never complain true champions

The Kawi seat bolt comment takes me back. In the mid 90's I had a good friend that rode Kawi's and he was constantly breaking his seat brackets. Back then they were made out of aluminum and they were riveted to the underside of the seat. The problem was that you couldn't just buy those brackets, you had to buy the entire seat. We even hit up the factory team in the pits at the Atlanta SX and they told us to find a machine shop that would make them for us. Luckily, I'm a machinist. It took a few tries to get them right but we eventually got there. I bet I could have made a small fortune selling them back then but it never crossed my mind.
Same story here. Had to make my own. I'm a machinist now but back then I was just a kid in high school machine shop. Luckily we also had a shop at home with a lathe, mill, welders, etc. I made a few of those at home but at school I had machine shop for every class but one during my senior year so I had time and machines to make those for myself and friends along with other cool parts for fun. Ignition covers, master cylinder covers, triple clamps, axles, swing arm extensions for hillclimb bikes,, etc. We were fortunate enough to have a HAAS VF-E at school which opened a lot of possibilities for custom parts. Also an ENCO cnc lathe.
Chris is a funny interviewer and the privateers are awesome, keep more of these junk yard dogs segments, so entertaining. Great job Keefer!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Living the dream boys!!!

This is awesome. I hope you keep on with this segment. I was surprised to see our local boy from Alvin, TX Lane Shaw, on there. Him and his mom are really nice people. I think he forgot to mention JkopMX since he has been helping Lane since the beginning. The bike behind is another local Curren Thurman 191. They actually went to school together. There have been about 10 pros that came out of that little town starting with Travis Elliott on the old Plano Honda team when Ivan Tedesco was riding for them. That little town also produced the MLB strikeout king Nolan Ryan.
All these dudes are straight hustlers on and off the track.. doing whatever it takes to make ends meet and becoming entrepreneurs while they are at it. Mad props 🤘🤘

Sure, it’s fun to follow all the top riders and hear their interviews and see them on TV, but there are SO many more riders that never get any recognition. This is a fantastic way to get to know them and I bet it will lead to more support for them💪🏼 Which is great for the sport as a whole👍🏼
This is great! Well done! If it weren’t these guys, the privateers, the gate would be pretty thin. Honestly, especially in todays sport, there is a lot to say for being a racer independent of the factories. I love it! Honestly, Matt Burkeen is one of my favorite pro riders as a fan, and he is 100% privateer, independent, journeyman racer👍👍👍
