I don't know much about comics Deadpool, but this reminds me of Spiderman 2099 from Across the Spiderverse, who was more of a stoic character compared to other versions. Since he became very popular due to that movie it seems like writers are making other versions of him similar to the Spiderverse version instead of going for a more comic accurate versions, which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on who you ask. One thing that really stuck with me from my playthroughs was after the carnival level, and Deadpool leaves the camera goes back and reveals it wasn't really a carnival ride. Really shows how the game was going for Wade's point of view of the world. I think that's what alot of reviewers missed and just thought it was a random for the sake of random game. Not saying it's a great game but it's much better when you take that into account.
Who’s to say that he isn’t already making a surprise Voice Over Cameo appearance in the Council of DeadPools?.. He was a very prominent vocal performer for many animated Deadpool’s for a huge chunk of time, it’s highly unlikely that his voice over contributions to bring his many versions of Deadpool to life wouldn’t at least be somewhat acknowledged in the MCU film that has a massive DISNEY budget. & unless Disney refuses to work with Nolan North specifically I highly doubt that it’s a big ask for Disney to pay the North Man a fat paycheck to get him inside of a recording booth to play the Merc with the Mouth one last time.. 🙃
It'd be funny if Headpool was the head of Weapon XI from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. In a post credits scene, it's shown to still be alive, and the scar tissue around his mouth tore off, so he broke the fourth wall by shushing the audience
To be fair to the first Deadpool movie at least. You got a glimpse into the depression. I don't remember the exact quote. But, he mentions basically that, life is a roller coaster of bad things, with occasional commercial breaks of happiness.... "And now, back to our regularly scheduled program." Like yeah, they could show it more maybe. But, unlike with this game. It is there, just not the main focus.
I remember getting deadpool damaged badly in this game when I was little and watching him regenerate slowly. Gonna be badass the see that mechanic return in the wolverine game
@inferior3199 you said "actually the same gimmick existed in the X-Men Origins Wolverine game adaptation." There was no reason to say it like that, considering I never claimed otherwise. I was just sharing a fun story, and you felt like being that guy that comes in and says, "Um actually 👆"
@@BucketSoup2023 Maybe it's because English isn't my native language or something, but I don't see how adding that fact might have seem insulting in some way to and honestly your reaction to your interpretation of my comment isn't very polite either
the absurd $100,000,000 myth has been debunked by the original devs for a while now. it's a short, linear action game, how can y'all be this gullible lmao
Right? I don't get everyone's obsession with the new movies; he doesn't talk to himself as if having multiple personalities and he doesn't have a relationship with death (deadpool talking to himself is like the key staple to his character, if not more than him breaking the 4th wall). I wish that Nolan North did the voices in his head for the movies, that would have so been great. Also (the real) Ajax and Doctor Killebrew were substituted for the lamest origin villain.
What you said about the movies in the start isn't exactly true. Both movies showcase his more serious and tragic side with DP2 having a surprising amount of emotion weight. The game is what you described the movies as
I agree the movies do a decent job at exploring Wade’s mental health, especially the beginning of the sequel. But I think those aspects really get overshadowed by the non stop humour a lot of the time
I was just about to post that. I like the movies specifically cause it's clear Wade is using humor to deflect how depressed he is. In the first movie the cancer is treated super seriously and his time at Weapon X is horrifying, but Wade himself is making jokes cause it's just who he is. And the sequel is all about Wase being suicidal. They feel pretty genuine to the character, both the light hearted and the dark.
@@AlexWebb101 well yeah of course it’s going to be overshadowed by humor because that is what Deadpool is. He can have some dark moments, but he is not completely dark. He isn’t Batman.
1st, in the movies, Deadpool is actually very depressed and has depression issues... and he is someone that wants to look out of the little guy...... 2nd, the game was supposed to have been high jacked by Deadpool.... so he rewrote the script.... that's why a lot of his more depressing stuff is missing.... because HE had creative control... and DP wouldn't want that kinda stuff in his game....
Exactly. In the beginning, when the player looks in the mirror, his face is shown and he says something like do we really wanns show this dark stuff? I don't remember it perfectly
When it comes to the comics Daniel Way wrote, I actually feel that he still managed to show Deadpool’s depressed side well, and managed to be more clever and funny then the majority of the moments in this game. I think this game was just wrote with the idea that of making crazy set pieces and that’s why the writing turned out that way.
I always thought that song was specifically made for the movie, since it references it (Captain Deadpool... nah, just Deadpool) and scenes in the montage are made to fit in with the lyrics
I think they nailed it honestly. One of the main reason why it flopped is that ppl expected a good (by normal games standard) game with deadpool in it and and not a Deadpool product in the form of a game . . . . Those who wanted a Deadpool product were quite happy with this because it is truly a Deadpool product.
When it comes to Deadpool there's a great quote I think of and it rings even more true now that he has another movie. "For Deadpool there's a fine line between Funny and Annoying and I sure hope he finds it"
Honestly, this game was great. The fact that it didn't take itself seriously was the sole reason it was so great. A fun experience that you can just start and play again and again. Even after so long, I love this game.
@@MrAjking808 Not... trying to do anything? I am just stating my experience with the video. Regardless of the content of my comment, it still brings engagement to his channel and that's all that really matters in the end.
If Deadpool were a real person he'd be a paranoid schizophrenic (among other things). However, Deadpool if fully aware of the fact he is a fictional character and exists within a comic book universe. His paranoia is completely justified as are most of the rest of his issues. PTSD, multiple personalities, narcissism...he literally has every reason to have all the conditions he has due to everything writers have done to him over the years. If anything by accepting his fictional status and rolling with the chaos he might be one of the sanest characters in all of superherodom.
So I was recently at a convention that had Nolan North as guest. During the Q&A he mentioned that the majority of Deadpool’s lines were ad-libbed by him. So if it there feels like there is no real plot for Deadpool that’s because he did not have script 90% of the time.
@@AlexWebb101 What’s crazy is that’s what the devs wanted. As he put it “if you ever wanted to to see my thoughts unfiltered well here you go it’s me with no filter.”
I was 12 when Deadpool started to blow up and when this game came out. This was my first exposure to the character and I’ll always have a soft spot for it. While Daniel Ways stuff isn’t my favorite, I still love it as a comic where I can just turn my brain off and laugh and the same is said for this game. Also read Deadpool the good, the bad, and the ugly. Phenomenal Deadpool story
I bought this game before the movie came out and paid $60 and thought that was too expensive, now it’s damn near $200. But to be honest I loved the game, I replayed a few times to get the platinum and fell in love with the game, I loved the senseless humor and it did have a plot but it was buried under all the jokes and the goofy stuff, but for the most part I really loved the game. The combat did feel repetitive but it also felt satisfying, never became boring or tedious. Solid 8/10 for me.
I loved Daniel Way’s run in Deadpool. It might have been more comedic in tone, but still had plenty of the dark stuff. Not only did it feature the storyline where he fell in love with Death, but at one point, he becomes so self loathing that he actually baits the Hulk into trying to kill him, and once Hulk figures out what Deadpool is trying to do, he calms down, transforms back into Bruce Banner, and tells him he won’t kill him. It’s actually a surprisingly poignant scene from a comic that’s known more for how silly and violent it is. Also, the scene where Deadpool has an arrow stuck in his head and he starts to pick up the signal from a Christian radio station and thinks he’s hearing the voice of God is still one of the most legitimately laugh out loud funny things I’ve ever read in a comic.
I became a Deadpool fan due to Joe Kelly's take on the character - depicting Wade as a deeply troubled and dangerous anti-hero who torments Blind Al and Weasel and constantly wrestles with his own self worth. All that is gone because fart fart chimichanga 4th wall wokka wokka.
@@MrSpartan993 Do you remember that Nostalgia Critic review of Deadpool 2? Everyone made fun of it back then because Doug Walker gonna Doug, but his parody of Comic Con Deadpool's were dead on. I kind of want to see bi-polar, dangerous, depressed Deadpool for longer than 5 minutes. Especially Wade's "Bad Room".
I enjoyed Joe Kelly's take, but Fabian Nicieza really figured Wade out in Deadpool & Cable despite the run wanting to be a Cable book up until they weren't allowed to use him. Seriously, Deadpool's arc in the last few issues is fantastic despite needing to be crammed into a book with an impending cancelation. Him discovering he can play well with others without compromising who he is was such a high note. It was shocking realizing that was the main Deadpool character arc future writers would explore and repeat for years.
@@shermang27 Fabian indeed created a classic series with Cable and Deadpool, but Joe Kelly's the guy who made me a fan. I don't MIND Daniel Way, but I do feel like that's where Wade took a turn for the goofier.
When I got this game as a teenager, I really liked it, probably cuz I was a teenager and i spent all the money I was saving at the time to buy games. I kinda convinced myself anything I bought was good cuz u kno, sunk cost fallacy or whatever. I’ve played it since and it’s fun but I really think nostalgia is holding it together for me
this game is such a masterpiece in terms of being a game with no plot, actually. the hole plot is that, for deadpool, nothing have meaning. so the game kinda does that by not accomplishing anything at all. it truly breakes the 4th wall by being a silly booby ass game just for the fun of being a game of such an amazing character and the fact that it performed that bad in budget in the best time for the character in all those years is really the perfect joke. to my eyes, it is a perfect game.
Hey, I loved this game too! Played through it 2-3 times and I normally only play through games once. I also met Nolan North a few months ago and told him I loved the game and his Deadpool performance, telling him he was one of my fave Deadpool voice actors to which he replied “I’m the only Deadpool!” with a glee ful smile 😄
As someone who didn't know Deadpool, I loved this game and still do. As a player, I enjoy it, it's pretty fun and good to have a chill time, despite the boring gameplay. As a comic book fan, it's like an adult parody, it has everything you ever wanted to see on screen, but after you had your round, you just feel like that was it and wish you could've seen the real deal. Does that make it bad? Obviously not. If the game makes me enjoy it on what it aimed for, it served its purpose. Even if fans don't like it, it is what got their favorite character to become such a big title and allowed for movies to become the titan of +18 Marvel bucks they are now.
Literally everyone I know that's played this game has loved it. Obviously it's not gonna have good ratings cause they're completely objective with that and they don't rate the game based on how fun or funny it is. Plot wise I don't get your complaints about it... The whole plot is that THERE IS NO PLOT. I get that you expect one because it's a story game and it should have a plot. But if you know anything about deadpool, then you would know that he's not like the rest, so I think this fits him perfectly. I even played this this year and enjoyed it a lot. They did a great job 👏👏
Did not realize how lucky I was when I found a PS4 copy for 30 dollars at GameStop, a couple months back. Had no clue the price was so inflated at the time.
I'm so glad a gaming magazine in Poland years ago used to attatch 2 DVDs with PC games to every issue. One of those was an officially-licensed copy of Deadpool game. Currently it's about the only legal way to get it in Poland, and it's also a DRM-free. Costs about $10 second hand, but that's money well spent, I'd say.
I seriously thought this game was going to full on parody other games like having game mechanics making you think you’re suddenly playing Medal of Honor, God of War and whatever other game was popular of the time.
It certainly was just a meme-y mess, but as a teen who was fully into the internet culture of the time I really loved it. The comedy was stupid, but at the time so was the online space. The longevity wasn't there, but the game certainly stands on its own as a little microcosm representation of the internet in the 2010s, and in that way it's a weird but fun time capsule. I do wish it had an actual plot, but at the time I didn't even pay attention to that!
I Would Give This Game A 8.5 Out Of 10 Because It’s A Fun And Hilarious Game. Normally I Would Play A Game With Spotify But Deadpools Commentary Is Just So Funny That I Play The Game With Its Normal Audio On. The Gameplay Is Extremely Fun And Is What I Mostly Would Envision A Deadpool Game Would Play Like
I’m surprised that people don’t like Daniel ways run. I absolutely adore it and think that there was a lot of emotional depth to his character. I think he found the perfect balance between the comedy/meme stuff and the serious moments.
I bought this game the week it came out, and loved every second of it. It was such a unique game that only far cry dragon blood dragon could compete against in terms of insanity and out of the box wackiness. I still have that physical copy and might just dust it off this week to honor the new movie coming out.

After replaying the game after the movie came out, I thought "wow, what a dumpster fire of a game." But thanks to this new uproar of fans, I got my money back 20 fold on ebay
I'd say that this is a great version of Deadpool, in his manic swings he gets energetic like this pretty often, and im pretty sure he was a fan of dubstep while jungle artists were working in their basements in the 90s, so...
I remember playing this on the 360 on launch and I had a lot of fun with it, but it not having a story really hit during the ending, like "that was it?"
Part of why it sold terribly was because it was so difficult to find in game stores. I had to buy it on steam upon release as literally no shop sold it

Nolan North would be a perfect fit for Headpool in Deadpool & Wolverine.

To be fair to the first Deadpool movie at least. You got a glimpse into the depression. I don't remember the exact quote. But, he mentions basically that, life is a roller coaster of bad things, with occasional commercial breaks of happiness.... "And now, back to our regularly scheduled program."
Like yeah, they could show it more maybe. But, unlike with this game. It is there, just not the main focus.

I don't get everyone's obsession with the new movies;
he doesn't talk to himself as if having multiple personalities and he doesn't have a relationship with death (deadpool talking to himself is like the key staple to his character, if not more than him breaking the 4th wall).
But I think those aspects really get overshadowed by the non stop humour a lot of the time
@@AlexWebb101 While we're on the subject, what are your thoughts on the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine movie?
I was just about to post that. I like the movies specifically cause it's clear Wade is using humor to deflect how depressed he is. In the first movie the cancer is treated super seriously and his time at Weapon X is horrifying, but Wade himself is making jokes cause it's just who he is.
And the sequel is all about Wase being suicidal. They feel pretty genuine to the character, both the light hearted and the dark.
Deadpool 2 is better than the first for this exact reason IMO

Never thought this game was so "controversial". I always loved it and thought it fit with the idea of what you'd see in Deadpool's perspective.
The TeamHeadKick song about this game made it into the 2016 movie during the montage where Wade hunted down Ajax's minions.
Nah ain't no way is that real if so that's crazy cool I loved their dead rising 2 song
@@PurpleRyuga yep, it's real. Go watch the montage and listen to the song.

One of the main reason why it flopped is that ppl expected a good (by normal games standard) game with deadpool in it and and not a Deadpool product in the form of a game . . . .
Those who wanted a Deadpool product were quite happy with this because it is truly a Deadpool product.

Honestly, this game was great. The fact that it didn't take itself seriously was the sole reason it was so great. A fun experience that you can just start and play again and again. Even after so long, I love this game.
The making of this game has Lore. That’s just amazing.

Dont forget this game also gave us the Deadpool rap, which was then used in Deadpool 1
So I was recently at a convention that had Nolan North as guest. During the Q&A he mentioned that the majority of Deadpool’s lines were ad-libbed by him. So if it there feels like there is no real plot for Deadpool that’s because he did not have script 90% of the time.
Oddly enough, that makes a ton of sense

I felt like they did a decent job implying he's super depressed just by his apartment in the beginning of the game.
It’s come and gone in a cycle depending on who’s writing him I think.
I don't MIND Daniel Way, but I do feel like that's where Wade took a turn for the goofier.

this game is such a masterpiece in terms of being a game with no plot, actually. the hole plot is that, for deadpool, nothing have meaning. so the game kinda does that by not accomplishing anything at all. it truly breakes the 4th wall by being a silly booby ass game just for the fun of being a game of such an amazing character
and the fact that it performed that bad in budget in the best time for the character in all those years is really the perfect joke.

This game is the best deadpool game because it has the energy as if it was story boarded and written by deadpool himself
Even if fans don't like it, it is what got their favorite character to become such a big title and allowed for movies to become the titan of +18 Marvel bucks they are now.
was super obsessed with this game when i was younger., This game and that infamous leaked deadpool movie scene is what got me into the character.
Getting cursed to look like tom cruise is one of my favorite arcs. That and the arc where his mind is actively dying and he calls guns doorknobs

That’s a steal by US standards!
I seriously thought this game was going to full on parody other games like having game mechanics making you think you’re suddenly playing Medal of Honor, God of War and whatever other game was popular of the time.
0:56 not just antidepressants. Homie needs some antipsychotics
I’m surprised that people don’t like Daniel ways run. I absolutely adore it and think that there was a lot of emotional depth to his character. I think he found the perfect balance between the comedy/meme stuff and the serious moments.
