Even a cow if you want milk. We forget that cows are very efficient grass eaters because we use industrial feed lots instead of natural grazing to raise them.
@@marcvdfv8431 you got me there. Didn’t think of that. On the other hand if you raise a cow outside on the land, do you think they can’t handle themselves. Cows aren’t stupid unless they’ve been raised in a stall. Look at the grazing cows in the mountains of Switzerland. Why don’t they fall off a cliff? because it’s all they know. In America, grazing cattle travel in rough terrain with gullies on the run and don’t hurt themselves. I’m no cowboy either but I would think if raised in that environment they would be ok.
It's less work and cheaper to cut back the greenery every now and then than to buy, house, feed and care for living creatures - especially if you have no experience.
@@jen.... while using a gas engine to do it. I can’t agree. There is actually minimal work to have animals then to garden for instance. Growing vegetables is incredibly labour intensive while a few animals can be fed by what’s around them. I was even thinking that she could borrow a few goats or sheep from a nearby shepard once in a while to do the job if she didn’t want the full responsibility. This way she could be away and not worry about having someone come in to care for her animals.
Wow! Maya, you are amazing! To do all of this, basically on your own, is proof of amazing determination. You are unstopable! Serious congratulations on your continuing achievement. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I can't wait for your dance of celebration!!
Start higher on your taller weeds, and work your way down. Less tangling. You may have to work a few days together on it to see progress. Reclaiming the wild is not easy.😉
To make sure the pipes fit into each other easily, you need to lubricate the ends and seals with soapy water. And if you force them in, like you did, you can tear the seals
You are using a flat spade designed for cutting straight lines in turf and a flat shovel designed for moving gravel. For digging holes and trenches, you need a pointed shovel.
A young person with so much drive, determination, tenacity and good old handwork is amazing! Fence up your property, vegy garden and flower beds and get a goat! You'll have less work! A warm hello from a grandma in Croatia!
I continue to be blown away that a single woman living on a slope of hard land can accomplish so much. You have a lot of determination, and it has paid off. You also have wonderful friends, neighbors, and volunteers who have helped you so much along the way. It's challenging work, but you are blessed beyond measure. You will have a wonderful property that you can be proud of.
meant to post this where you are installing the wood burner heater. When we install a burner, we add an elbow about 12 inches (30 mm) below the ceiling and add a four to six foot run of flue pipe then an elbow and go through the roof. The exhaust from the burner warms the extra flue pipe and you recover more heat into the room using less fuel. We have done this several times and it works very well. Love what you are doing! Wish we could come and help! Felicidades
You are doing amazing. I’m so happy to come by your videos they are amazing. I’m so proud of you. You can do anything. You have done amazing things. Can’t wait for the next video
You’re making such amazing progress! You’re going to have one amazing home when you’re done. And you’ve learned so much. So glad that you have such wonderful, helpful friends. Well done.🥳⭐️
Greetings! For your next project window or door, there is a blue bonding agent which helps the mix to stick better to the walls and prolong the life of the mix from falling apart through the years to come, as well there is a red one for the plastic edgers. Good luck and Best wishes
I love your perseverance and determination. You work so hard to get done what needs to be done, no matter how hard the job. You are going to have an amazing home when it is finally finished. You're an encouragement to women everywhere!
You are the hardest working person and taking the time to do it right , it is so nice to watch someone who is not always complaining only sharing your beautiful smile.
Maya, I so do admire your resolve and determination to complete the projects you start out with, No matter the difficulty you face, the setbacks, you don't give up. Thank you for being such an inspiration!
Whew! Now I can breathe----watching you and your friends struggle to make the septic system's connections left me breathless. I am not familiar with the European connection systems so I was a bit baffled (but that's not unusual for me) so I was cheering when the last piece fell into place. Don't ever doubt yourself, Maya----you are one determined lady and I doubt anything will stop you from achieving your dreams. Rock on, Maya!
I love how happy you are and get so excited when you work and DANCE! 💃 As a woman who also loves to build and renovate, you inspire me on a whole different level. Love love love watching you. Thank you for bringing me o your transformation journey. A warm Aloha from. Hawaii. ❤
Hello Maya, lovely video as always and we are so pleased you got some help, you are a clever and wonderful young lady and in time you will have a great homestead and you will certainly deserve it. Take care Michael and Carol.❤
There is a special waterbase grease for this pipes, if not, regular liquid soap works, also avoid using 90 degree angles on drainage pipes, it could get clogged very often. Some service pits also could make life easier later.
Good job, Maya. If your friend helping you knows, at the big drop where there was a 90 degree bend, that should be a wye or tee instead the 90, so a clean-out pipe and cap can be installed up to ground level or higher..That way if something stops up the drop pipe or lower, it can rooted clean. For future information, always use sewer sweeps [large radius 90] or two 45 degree bends when making a turn.. And, in DWV drain pipe and SDR35 sewer pipe,, they do make 22.5 degree bends. But, in your rocky soil conditions, they would need a sand bedding and covering for protection.
I own a 1.25 acre in Florida, I've been cleaning the lot with a shovel, a rake and a chainsaw. I have no idea how you can work weed whacking and trimming plants in a dress and no gloves! To me that's drama waiting to happen! You are an amazing woman 👏👏👏💞
Yes, Wow Maya - you are amazing - so much determination, and with a smile and a wonderfully positive delight-with-life attitude. Thank you so much for sharing with us all.
Hi, a great job especially given the limited availability of the fittings you needed. Both Floplast and Marley make adjustable bends for 110mm underground drainage in the UK. Also here we use an orange pipe which has a thicker wall thickness for underground than the grey which is used above ground. But each county has their own rules and traditions.
This is same in most countries it depend on manufacturer.. thin HT grey plastic PVC is for indoor aplication and orange ones KG is more durable for outside. . In this case when grey HT is under road some stone demage it and you must dig it out whole again.
Dear Maya, You should talk to the locals with goats so they can move them to your land and they will keep all weeds low. Many use goats to keep grass and weeds down and they’re more them happy to move their goats around this time of the year.

There's nothing like completing a big job like that, which HAS to get done and will serve you for many years to come. Shwew! 😣 Yay Sherry for helping out!
You're doing such an incredible job with this build! Have you thought about adopting a dog for some company? In a space like that, you could build an amazing bond with each other. Keep up the amazing work that you are doing 💜
Dear Maya, you are the best. You always have a positive attitude despite many challenges. I hope you can get the excavator guy to fill the dirt back in. Then I hope you can put this behind you! ❤
Hi maya, you can washing up liquid to push the connections together , it’s a lot easier and it it better for the rubber inserts, great video, keep up the hard work.
Missed you last week , your home is beautiful, its the perfect life I could live like this , I love projects and get so much satisfaction from doing things myself , just make sure you get rest , one day I would love to visit ❤️ ♥️
Maya, you're not afraid to work hard. You must have been raised like me, if it needs done, you simply do it learn what you need to finish. This is a German trait I think a way of life. I share the ancestry where my family migrated to the US in the 1830's originally, they came from a little town near Osnabruck near Aultlatung Parish I think. The family had a grain mill there called Kunkenmill, now a historical site. Not sure about the spelling. Keep it up girl, you can do it for sure!
Wow, Maya, you are absolutely amazing, you continue to work until its done, well done to you & your helpers, now you can fill the soil in & make a flat terrace again, I'm so happy for you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Maya, I love watching your videos ❤. I’ve never commented before but need to tell you that you are amazing, strong and so very smart. It’s great to see women doing tough work. I feel your pain and revel in your joy. Thank you 🙏🏼 and yes, that wall is magical.

Give yourself a break and dig less dirt. Get a Trenching Spade and Trenching shovel. They help produce a deep but narrow trench. A trenching shovel can be an ordinary long handled shovel with the edges sliced off.
Since you do a lot of digging (yes despite the rocks) you should still get a round pointed shovel. You push it with your foot and can dig earth a lot easier than with flat shovels... smaller rocks you can get out as well (not bigger) but despite your rocky ground, thst kind of a shovel is still helpful on any digging projects... 🙏
I would consider a goat or lamb for greenery control , after you put up a barrier fence around vegetable garden

Oldtimer Tip : If you cut those branches into smaller pieces then moving them is " loads" easier.
you should have left the branch in the river it helps small fish have a place to hide and grow away from larger predators

All your blood, sweat, and tears are into this huge project. You are remarkable and I love seeing you accomplish everything you set out to do,
