Man this was awesome, I’m working on my first frag movie with my irl friends that I play with. By the way, if you want to continue the movie after this point and go back out of POV, would that be possible without the floating arms or would you record separate parts and edit it? Because if I understand correctly if you continue like this and go out of the player model you’ll end up with the floating hands problem?
@@gnomemercycs5578 if you want to move around the map without the floating arms, press space bar to go into third person before executing mirv_input camera
@@AnthonyPerfetto Thanks! I do think HLAE is quite limited, still have to get used to it. Lining up multiple pieces of footage in davinci resolve (which I just started using today) is quite hard, but I think ill manage :), here’s my first movie, had a lot of fun. th-cam.com/video/2luHQd3uTNM/w-d-xo.html only 720p unfortunately since it was just a test
you have television commercial energy in the intro, it's funny in a good way haha currently learning hlae because i did a sick inferno 1v5 ace clutch and your videos are the only ones that feel connected and not like a mess, thank you
Wow that's a cool idea! I would have never thought to use the floating arms for my purposes. You mentioned the model jumping around. Is that a result of placing cameras while paused ? Because I always do that and then sometimes have to jump back and forth to get a smooth playback.
heya, for some reason when typing mirv_input camera nothing happens and I cannot fly, the demo is not pause or anything I would appreciate the help a lot
hey Zazu! You would use the same techniques, but just reverse the process. Make your first campath anchor point in POV and the rest of your campath anchor points in third person.
How would this work if I want the campath to move from behind a player and into POV? With the floating arms, the rest of the player model is not visible. Is there a way to get both the player model and pov viewmodel to show at the same time, or is the solution to record the campath twice, once with the floating arms, once with the player model and then combine them in post (perhaps even with matte streams)?
great question, Dec! It's really quite impossible to make this technique look good if you're moving towards a player from behind them. You can do it two ways: 1. th-cam.com/video/MO_XwBLHsFE/w-d-xo.html (the camera establishes the player model, goes through them, then fades in the gun when it hits its mark) 2. th-cam.com/video/DtJYa5F2ghI/w-d-xo.html (the camera flies at the back of the player and you simply cut to pov) There are, of course, more advanced/creative editing techniques you could do, but these are the simplest/most basic ways.
im pretty sure u still respond to these comments so, im kinda confused, how do i go into third person so i can do a cine of my player model, cant figure it out i tried space bar which changes the pov but nothin too
yo anthony, thank you for the guide. I'm having a bit of an issue though - whenever the campath runs its course and is about to enter the target player's POV, the demo switches the view to another player automatically. Any idea how to work around this?
I know this may be a late comment, but I was wondering how you could move around with free cam when your demo is paused? Cant find anything online about it so would be grateful if you could let me know. Thanks!
if the gun is scoped in, you'd have to match the fov of your last keyframe to the zoom of the scope. you can simulate the scope using cookie cutter or mask and animate it. some post production magic and a little imagination required for it
Hey, nice tutorial again. What about the missing crosshair? Do you add in post? Can we pause demo and add in console at the exact point (and edit that part out)? Edit : Tested and it works, you simply need to cut out portion of the clip in post.
Hey Shen! Multiple ways to add in the crosshair once it moves into POV. Usually you can just cut on the frame where it switches to pov from campath. You can also duplicate your crosshair style in Photoshop and add it on top of your gameplay. Another advanced technique is to animate it in as you move into pov so it looks more natural!
i think you can also just record it twice. one with and one without crosshair and then you layer it and fade the one with crosshair in when he is about to shoot
This was awesome! Thaks so much. Also, i tried that command to hide the crosshair but didn´t work. I also tried cl_crosshairalpha 0, wich i saw somewhere, but didn´t work either. I´m sure i´m doing something wrong, could you guide me a bit please? Thanks so so much. Youre editing is awesome!
Hey Elena! You might need to change the crosshair style before changing the size. Type cl_crosshairstyle 4, then type cl_crosshairsize 0. See if that works. And thanks for the kind words!
What tutorial would you like to see next? Let me know 👇

Yup! The models jumping is a desync between the demo and the client. Just a glitch in the Source Engine!
I cant see my cam frames.. I do the mirv_campath draw enable 1 and nothing shows up. :(
You're missing a "D" mate. It's "enabled"

Hey mate. Sounds like you didnt start CSGO with the program, HLAE. Give this tutorial a try - th-cam.com/video/wYcs_5nzq98/w-d-xo.html

if u press space when in the arms and in mirv_input camera, it shows the player model without the floating arms.

Hey mate. Sounds like you’re trying to do this method using POV demos. This tutorial is only meant for CSTV/GOTV demos.
@AnthonyPerfetto yeah i figured it out yesterday, i rewatched ur playlist, i forgot to enable the campath when on third person 😭
yo anthony, thank you for the guide. I'm having a bit of an issue though - whenever the campath runs its course and is about to enter the target player's POV, the demo switches the view to another player automatically. Any idea how to work around this?
nevermind, fixed it somehow. For me what worked was to already be in a different person's POV and then start the campath
I know this may be a late comment, but I was wondering how you could move around with free cam when your demo is paused? Cant find anything online about it so would be grateful if you could let me know. Thanks!
