You have no idea how much this video speaks to me. Not having a proper Jean grey with the rest of my 90s figures used to bother me so much. The unexplainable feeling of joy being an adult and finally getting to complete the X-MEN with Jean grey in her proper costume is something I’m sure very few people can understand!
I literally never leave any comments ever, but I loved your video so much, I had too. When you talk about some of the older figures it transported me back to that time and put me in my feels... especially when you talk about space Jean (in my head I called her Space Jammer's Jean and paired her with Corsair) and the She Force Hall of Fame Jean. I remember going nuts when that figure was revealed and made my grandmother order it. I also remember going nuts over the repainted Emma for the black queen. Back then I was massively into AoA and Gen X. I definitely subscribed and liked the video and look forward to seeing your pretty face in my feed.
It's super weird how as a kid i thought I was the only weirdo in the planet to want a proper Jean Grey figure with her 90s costume. And i was a sucker for the ponytail. Now I hear you and read comments by other people saying they had the exact same thoughts and it's INSANE. We're not alone, weirdos in the world!🎉
I love this list, Mafex Jean is higher on my list. Jean Grey is one of my favorite characters. I want to say, that I like your theory, but Cable's Mother is Madelyne Prior, and Cable is making a return in the series. Jean "birth" Rachel and that little baby look male and non-Red Head. Also, I know you know Madelyne is a direct clone of Jean and a portion of the Phoenix brought Maddie to life while Jean was at the bottom of the ocean healing, I am hoping they do the show like the comic as the series was pulled from comic sources. They have an episode fire made flesh so maybe the person we see as Jean was actually Maddie and Jean will be returned. I hope they don't mess this up. Again thank you for this video list of Jean Grey figures. oop honorable mention Famous Cover's Jean was a favorite too.
Long time Jean Grey fan and figure collector. The She-Force, while I bought it is lower on my list. I am getting concerned about the Maddie/Jean storyline in X-Men '97. I love the 3 pack Triangle Jean.
Im just waiting for Hasbro to re-release the 90s Jean in an Onslaught color pallet (yellow with the blue pouches) and double jointed elbows. They need to give her power effects too, they are so stingy with Jean's powers
Very similar experience collecting the toy biz figures in the 90s and waiting for a proper Jean figure. Never saw the repaints in the wild, but did have the space riders figure.
I like the extra articulation from X-Men 97 legends version, so it wins there, but the Love Triangle 3pack is still the better looking figure for a Legends display. Oh and 97 version did better job of ponytail headsculpt. It fits on 3pack Jean well enough.
It's like you sucked these memories out of my head and turned them into images, like that one Acolyte with such oddly story-convenient powers. Great to see so much love for the '90s run, despite reliving a lot of frustration. It's WILD that the most comics-accurate Jean we had for years was a mail-order exclusive Domino repaint. Now I want to track down the Puzzle Zoo (wtf?) ad from a 1996 Wizard. The articulation of the line took SUCH a hit towards the end. Seriously, this is when they start giving in to our demands but we get that fugly-ass Onslaught Jean that is more statue than action figure and TOWERS over the rest of her teammates since they inexplicably jumped to a 6'' scale. Worthless for play OR posability, as she looks completely out of place and can barely stand up anyway. Then on to Space Riders Jean... a course correction, right? Well not quite, she's covered in that damn armor. Finally, the Flying Fighters (I had to look this up) series will come through for us, right?. Welp, pour one out. (Its cancellation also deprived us of Maggot and a classic blue and yellow Cyclops! 😠) Kinda felt like Toy Biz was just fucking with us at that point. As I've said before, it's weird living in a world where Jean is now arguably over-represented in figure form. No argument with your no. 1. Such an improvement on the earlier rundown thigh gap Jean, and hard to imagine getting better at this point. Still, glad to see '97 Jean as a worthy runner up.
Everytime I log on to check comments, I always look for yours. I read them. And I inhale them. I love your perspective so much! It is such a curious thing that we live in a world that Jim Lee Jean is OVER USED. You are so right. I’m dying for them to move on to other versions of Jean: perhaps a Revolution era or X-Fact (gold and red). LETS see…
@@powerofxmen Flatterer! Consider me but an instrument for... inhalement. 😬 I know it seems like I shit on Jim Lee, but I really do ADORE his work and contributions to the canon. But I do think Hasbro is A LITTLE TOO beholden to his designs, to the point of getting stuck in a comfort zone to some extent. (Whenever we're stuck waiting forever on a character, I want to be like: "Quick! Someone tell Hasbro Jim Lee drew them! A release will be announced on a fanstream next week.") It would be incredibly cool for Silvestri, whose work was so sexy and distinctive, to get a fraction of that attention, y'know? Or, to your point, Walt Simonson (for the great X-Factor opportunities), and the Kuberts! Even though I lowkey dragged the Revolution era 😂just recently, the art was the furthest thing from the problem. Loved a lot of those short-lived looks for Jean, Cable, and Gambit by Adam K.
I found my Onslaught Jean figure the other day and it inspired me to reread that story. My FIRST Jean figure was TAS Phoenix and it might be my favorite. It lights up. My grandmother got for me in the mid 90s and I have no clue how she found it.
That was as close as we close as we got to a proper Jean in scale with the rest of the line back then. One of the reasons I liked that she went back to that look circa 1998 is because it retroactively made the figure more comics-accurate!
Damn I feel old, because I recognized where the art for that background came from right away. I got a whole bunch of those Fleer 94-96 cards back then. But I never knew the 90s Domino figure had been repainted and repurposed for Jean. Sure worked better than Rogue being repurposed for Polaris. 🙃 I got the Love Triangle Jean and for me, it's all I need for the character. The Mafex one looks nice, but the only character I intend to replace with a Mafex version is Bane, since FINALLY there'll be a comic Bane at just the right scale. If I could pick another costume for Hasbro to give Jean, however, it'd be the armored look from that X-Men Red run. As for Madelyne Pryor... Ugh, still hate Hasbro for making that PERFECT Madelyne Pryor a tier from that insipid HasLab, and then giving us this pasty version. Maybe this'll finally goad me into learning to paint and customize. I have everything I need to kitbash a 6" Lois Lane, but haven't bothered to learn how to paint on pantyhose!
I have the X-Men Lover's Triangle Jean, I just bought the 97 Jean today, and I have two of the Mafex Jean Greys. The Mafex is easily the best. The articulation and paint put it over the top. The face sculpts on the Mafex are...fine even if they're not the absolute best female sculpts of all time; they're still good.
I am so glad I found your podcast. Kinda jealous that you found a husband with similar interests. I haven’t watched any other videos yet but can we see your action figure collection? I thought I was only gay Marvel fan and a toy collector
I really want a Betsy Braddock from Outback X-Men and shirtless Collosus . Eros ' and Dr. DRUID . Namorita and Red Nova. Gorgon and more original Eternals . Like Gilgamesh. Complete the Original Thunderbolts and Generation X.
I actually gave up looking for x men 97 jean.. i figure ill order her eventually but yesterday while buying a gift in gamestop what do i see but jean grey 97... was so happy i forgot for a spilt second why i actually went into the store. Almost left without the gift lol. Since this video is a few months old i hope you was happy with jean story in x men 97. I know i was.

As a long time Jean Greay stan i appreciate this video so much!! ❤❤
1. MafeX Jean Grey
2. X-Men ‘97 Jean Grey
3. Love Triangle Jean Grey

As a guy that collect X-Men Toy Biz from 90s, that Jean X97 is a chef kiss.
We finally got her 🎉🎉🎉
This video is epic. Definitely subscribing. Love the channel.
Ah this made my morning. Thank you. So much.

It’s a curious thing to feel we never got a proper Jean figure in the 99s when we had so many…that missed the mark 😅

It's open my eye's how every figure It is unique.
And they’re so pretty!
Love the vid. Honorable mention is the Famous Covers Jean Grey.
Hahah yes yes yes 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Very Nice....that love triangle Jean is hard to beat, unless Mondo releases a one:six scale.
I like the 97 face sculpt the most + the love triangle hair the most. Although I would've made it more red, and less brown.
I know why they don’t do it, but I wish they did the orange/flesh color of her costume right. At the end of the day, I love a Jim Lee Jean!
Yes I agree! It’s a hard color to get right!

@@cyke68Oh yeah. It was a treat seeing Bachalos take on Phoenix and very cool that she made that decision on her own.
I remember getting the Gambit and Cyclops from that wave.
Something tells me that your a Jean Grey fan..
Just a LITTLE 😅

I am truly wild about Mafex Jean!!!! She stands nicely next to St🌩️rm and Cyclops!!!
Hate but loved the ToyBiz Famous Covers Jean and Storm
Oooffppo I have a love/hate relationship with them too lol😅
I am so glad I found your podcast. Kinda jealous that you found a husband with similar interests. I haven’t watched any other videos yet but can we see your action figure collection? I thought I was only gay Marvel fan and a toy collector
There's an X-Men '97 viewing event!? Does anyone have details?
