      A few immediate suggestions are Roberto Carlos' best goals.
      Maybe Liverpool vs Newcastle from the 90's (1997 I think).
      Trevor sinclair overhead.
      Or rooney goal vs Man City.
      Aguero vs QPR.
      Tim Howard scores
      Lewandowski 9 minutes....
      Lots to see. The real challenge is finding broadcast clips that are not covered in shit music or are part of a documentary or similar

    • @breachtones
      @breachtones ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nicholasgunson2945 Carlisle were a very profitable team. Us Seadogs on the other hand... very much not! We were in massive debts because our fat oaf of a chairman overspent the previous year hoping we'd get promoted, and when we lost in the playoffs, we had no money. Transfer embargo was put on us.
      We were not a terrible side on paper, but so down on the financial side that I wouldn't be surprised if we went belly up or got relegated in the following years anyways.
      Regardless, I've come to appreciate this moment for what it is. We were doomed anyway, and Jimmy Glass' goal is an all-time great piece of football history.

    I know the answer will probably be "Knighton" and that I'm getting on a bit, but I always remember Carlisle as a solid Second Division side (with that one year in Division One) or if they dropped to the 3rd they always came back. Plus they are the "big" team in Cumbria, so it's always surprised me how they haven't become a second tier/top tier side like say Norwich or Southampton or Ipswich. Drifting around in the fourth tier /flirting with the Conference (again) just doesn't add up. But then again ; I'm an old git!

    • @Kairicko
      @Kairicko 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The current owners for the club have allowed it to stagnate significantly. The legacy of the Knighton era was at it's peak when the club did drop into the Conference in 2003, but Fred Story took over as owner and the club secured back to back promotions into League One, and then nearly made it 3 promotions in 4 years into the Championship, but got beaten by Leeds in the playoffs of 2008. Since then Fred Story left and a consortium of businessmen took over, who have been in charge ever since, barely investing any money into the playing side and allowing the club to slowly slide down the league with a string of abysmal managerial appointments and a lack of investment into the playing side. The club should really be sitting in the upper echelons of League One/The Championship, even flirting with a chance of Premier League Football a-la Wigan, Bournemouth, Brighton, Swansea etc, but no. Sadly for us it is constant underperformance until the club is sold and investment given.

    • @Kairicko
      @Kairicko 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@planetrockford When Knighton took charge of the club he set about plans to redevelop Brunton Park, this project started with the tearing down of what was previously known as the 'Scratching Pen' which was more or less a stand similar to the Paddock and replaced it with the All-seater stand, the redevelopment would have meant that the pitch would have been moved 20 metres as well, but as the money dried up, the project was never finished so the East Stand was built to overlook the re-designed pitch, but that pitch re-location never happened due to the Warwick Rd end and Waterworks End not being changed.

      You'd think Carlisle would just say fuck it and apply for a spot in the Scottish league system. They could easily work themselves up to an SPL spot in 4-5 years and end up doing better then their ceiling in the EFL. Plus away travel would be much better/cheaper.

    At one point around the 6 minute mark, the Plymouth right back gets one player in a headlock, then punches the next one that comes in to help. Still on the pitch when Carlisle scored later on, he'd have gotten about 4 red cards and been banned for half a season these days.
