WHAT AN INCREDIBLE START OH MY GOSH... I am SO ready, but also NOT AT ALL ready!! This first playthrough of Mass Effect 3 is completely blind and unspoiled, so please let's keep it that way by keeping backseating to a minimum!
I'm so glad you did it as a premiere because that was so fun. I'm now going to watch it a second time because I am sure I missed a lot by watching chat. This was great Basic!
Kaiden may be a Major now, but Shep is N7 alone for that Shep outranks him. oh and if u want to know more about James watch the Paragon Lost movie th-cam.com/video/8LsjmVfxNV0/w-d-xo.html
Never apologize for your love for Kaidan! Lol it’s so refreshing to see someone not just hate on him or leave him on virmire. I love their little interactions during that mars mission. His little laugh when Shepard calls him stubborn is just perfect. Lol A little tip, be mindful of the total weight in the loadout selection, it determines the recharge speed of your powers. Can’t wait for more! If I could recommend any mod. It would be the Kaidan overhaul mod. Purely cosmetic but so nice there’s also mods to give shep some nicer casual clothes lol
Yeah, my personal distaste for Kaiden is because in my head he's Carth from KoToR, and my general relationship with him from that game is the same as Picard and Westley Crusher. My literal response to Kaiden in ME1 when i first heard him speak was "Shut up Carth". It was downhill from there for me. Its nice/refreshing seeing someone in the Kaiden love camp.
The problem with Kaiden is that his arc is pretty much complete when you meet him. You learn about brain camp and what he did Vernus but he's over it and moved on by the time of M.E 1. There's potential development for him. I always just found him a bit... Dull. My own opinion, of course
YES!!! I'm a day late and bummed I missed the premier, but this lived up to all of the expectations!! The Kaidan reunion is the best! And I'm still living for the giddiness you have over him! Also, bravo Taylor on the editing and warning you about that missing scene. It's brutal, but a big thing to miss. I loved the editing where you slapped away the d in loved. I'm so here for this and can't wait for the rest of the game!
@@joshcalloway2468 Shepard is a full Commander, or 05, in the Navy. Lieutenant Commander is 04. Major is an 04 in the Army, Marines, and Air Force. So even if Shepard were a Lt. Commander, Kaiden and she would just be the exact same rank
Here we go! We're all in for quite the ride... There will be laughter, tears, and all the angst and yearning you could ask for. We stand with you, Commander Basique.
He's great as Broshep's ME3 queer romance. Probably my favorite when I don't play Femshep, but I like them as best (human) friends when playing as her. Liara will always be the best love, with Garrus as close second IMO
Ahhhh! I've been waiting for this moment and it did not disappoint! I've been following your journey since your Horizon video got recommended to me (algorithm did something right for once) and it was so refreshing to see someone who loves Kaidan as much as I do that it was an instant subscribe! Kaidan's my favorite ME romance, I love the angst and tension at the beginning of ME3 and their little interactions on Mars, especially the flirting with Shep calling Kaidan stubborn while doing a playful little push.😂 The scene at 1:30:16 is so heartbreaking, because I think this is also the first time we see Shep freak out, in that moment she is no longer a soldier, but a person who is so afraid to lose someone she cares so much about and there's nothing she can do about it. It's even more apparent if Shep romanced Kaidan. Liara recognizes how worried Shep is and is trying her best to pull Shep back in again. Ugh, it's such a good scene! 😭 I can't wait to see you experience the rest of the game and get your man back! 🥰
Ok, here I am! Took me forever and a bit more to get through ME2. I blame all the games being released lately 😆 I also need to hurry up with ME3, as you started DA today ❤🤙
One other thing, for my fellow sniping enthusiast: There’s an achievement called: „Through the mail slot” or something similar. You get it for headshots on those Cerberus soldiers with shields. By shooting through their view-slit. Enjoy. 😉
Chasing that trophy was super enjoyable. Made me rethink my usual gung-ho approach on insanity and fight shield guys more tactically using squad's biotics. Fun times👍 They and those Atlas mechs. Man I wish more of them popped up in ME3)
Don't forget skill points! ME3 is my favorite for gameplay. I know you'll love it, too. From one Kaiden faithful to another, good luck and savor every moment. You only get to play the first time once.
Omg! I can't believe the game glitched on you on that scene! I know is hard to watch for Kaidan fans but I remembered that you said once (I think it was in one of the ME1 episodes) and you said you loved the hurt&comfort trope and I was like "she's gonna love this" even back then 😂❤ I also knew you would run to check on him before finishing the episode or doing anything else 😂😂😂 When you are a Kaidan fan and love angst the opening and the Mars mission are even better. I absolutely love them and I have loved watching you react to it! The tension, the yearning... 😭😭😭 I was going to go on a rant about some of the things that people accuse him of in the beggining of this game, but i know in your case it would be like preaching to the choir, so I'll leave it here. Can't wait for the next episode ❤ Thanks for the video! P.S.: The debate about whether Kaidan has a higher rank than Shepard is very common. Some people say it doesn't make sense, but the thing is that there's an old ME guide/encyclopedia of sorts explaining the ranks and Kaidan is a higher rank according to that. Was it a mistake on the writers part? Maybe. It still doesnt change much. We have already seen that, while abroad the normandy, he respecta her as the commanding officer, so... 🤷🏻♀️
No don't apologize for the Kaidan love! He barely gets any appreciation and I quite enjoy the change of pace 😂 And I was cackling at the edit with you karate chopping the "d" off of "loved" Note to self: how long does it take Basic to realize she hasn't upgraded the squad's powers? 😆
Regarding Kaiden's rank, he's not ranked higher than Shepard. The Alliance is closely related to the U.S. Navy. Kaiden was ranked as a Lieutenant in ME1, which is an O-3 rank. Shepard is Commander, O-5. O-4 is a Lieutenant Commander, which is the same rank as the Marines O-4 ranking of Major. I'm not sure if the devs did this on purpose to create a rank in the Alliance Navy that doesn't exist in our Navy, I'm guessing they did (making it equal to Lieutenant Commander) because some people might have been confused which one is higher ranked. Long story short: If we equate it to U.S. Navy, Shepard is O5 and Kaiden is now O4 after his promotion.
People often think "Alliance Military" is just the one single force but it is actually made up of the 2 branches - Alliance Navy AND Marines. So Kaiden is indeed Alliance Marines while Shepherd is Alliance Navy.
Thank you for saying this so the rest of us didn't need to. I even looked it up, mostly because Systems Alliance rarely does salutes properly in the games.
@MattRowland That is what the mass effect wiki says, but I'm not sure where the information they have regarding rank comes from? The codex from the first ME states the ranking for Navy and Marine officers is: 2nd Lt -> Staff Lieutenant -> Lieutenant Commander -> Staff Commander -> Captain/Major -> Rear Admiral/General -> Admiral. No mention of a regular Commander at all, and the start of the game tells you "You are Lieutenant Commander Shepard." So with this ranking system, Kaidan does in fact outrank Shepard. But in ME3 everyone acts as if Shep's rank is simply "Commander." They also refer to Ashley as "LC/Lieutenant Commander" even though per the first ME she'd just be referred to as "Commander Williams." Kaidan is also a Staff Commander in ME2. I'm thinking there was a retcon of the ranking system somewhere along the way.
I was familiar with army ranks, were a major would likely be a battalion Commander. I believe the same goes for US Marines. I guess the game use the Navy as a foundation, but doesn't necessarily follow the ranks exactly. Like when Shepherd refers to herself as a marine, when she is a Navy Commander. Similarly, when Bailey tell her that he is now a commander. It looks like in CSec a commander is above a captain, whereas in the Navy a captain is above a commander. Clear as mud, huh? It bugs me that Shepard was never promoted beyond Commander.
The intro of this game is so well done.. it hits you so hard... we are losing earth fall and theres nothing you can do as you see de reapers falling into earth and the debris of all the ships.... such a good game.
Kid: "You can't help me." Also kid: *Gets blown up on a different ship while Shepherd leaves safely on the Normandy.* Thats what the kid gets for doubting Commander Shephard.
For context, the Normandy's destruction back in ME2, was ONE month after Saren. You spend the next 2 years in a sci-fi coma, and spend till some time the year after in an Alliance prison for the events of Arrival. You're coming up to 3 years since Eden Prime. EDIT: And yes, the opening section takes place in Vancouver. EDIT 2: The thing with helmets off, it still forces helmets on contextually, if you're in an environment where the characters cannot breathe naturally, like the surface of Mars, or the vacuum of space, even with the helmets off in convos option picked, it keeps your helmet on, which, personally, is a nice detail. Not sacrificing believability for the sake of aesthetics.
@Basicwitgirl this is not a spoiler, just a vague piece of advice: Focus on your War Assets they DO Matter. That is all. My Kaiden count coming shortly, just needed to give that vague piece of advice lol
Hold A and press Spacebar to roll. "That's not working well for me" ~ Basic. MAYbe, if you could manage to pry your eyes off Kaidan, and keep the camera trained more on the perspective of that MASSIVE GUN SHOOTING AT YOU ALL...... "But, Shepard..........Cerberus." ~Kaidan Alenko, for approximately 65% of the trilogy.
I think maybe you have the advantage (or disadvantage, depending on your point of view) of playing a FemShep and having romanced him. As BroShep, all he seems to do is "But you're Cerberus, Shepard, because inonce saw you accidentally bump your right shoulder-piece of a non-N7 piece of armour into a post that a random NPC called Tim once pissed against while drunk, ergo, you're a Cer-bot!" for 2 and a fair chunk of 3. Normally, by the time he finally shuts up about it, I'm tired of him and do a different story thing I can't reveal yet. Ashley is almost no better, to be honest. She also Cereberuses us incessantly, but at least she does a Pressly and abandons much of her Space Racist mindset. Kaidan just gets the hump and makes you pay for his drink. 🙄
Funny story, ME3 was my first Mass Effect game, I saw it on clearance for $5 and decided that was cheap enough to try out. I got the worst version of everything because it defaulted all the choices of 1 and 2 to "you were an idiot for not playing" :P
The " worst version of everything " ? I don't see how some of those are that " bad " though... The final choice of ME1 for example, I had picked Udina to sit at the Council too on my first run. He made the most sense to me. I mean, when we think about it, Humanity is gonna sit with the Council. A guy who knows how politics works, who's good with all the political bs, sounds like a much better choice to me, than a military guy who don't know anything about all that. Anderson would get screwed by the other members of the Council all the time without even realizing it, as opposed to Udina who'd see right through it and can navigate those waters way more easily than Anderson would. Plus, it's a choice that don't really matter in the end, as ME3 completely ignores it by putting Udina in that place anyway, so... Might as well pick the one who makes the most sense from the start. The Council being wiped at the end of ME1, again, how is that a "worst" choice ? They had been warned from the start by Shep, they didn't believe her/him, that's on them... Can't expect Shep to throw thousands of Humans peoples lives to the trash bin, just to save their 3 bottoms. Not gonna send like 500 people to their death just to save 3 dummies who wouldn't listen. Yeah, nope, not doing that, thanks. Especially when knowing they STILL don't believe Shep in ME2 after seeing a reaper with their own eyes, and denying it. They also have Avina spreading fake news as they have her saying it was the Geth who attacked the Citadel when they know very well it's not the Geth who did it. So, I mean, letting these 3 dummies get wiped not only give them what they deserve for not believing the one who warned them about it, and also for spreading fake news and lies through official channels. But it also save thousands of lives by not sending these poor guys and gals to their death to save those 3... So, the way I see it, saving the Council is a much more "worst" choice than not saving them. It's causing thousands of peoples death, without getting anything at all in return. They literally died for no reason. In ME3's default choices, all these thousands of people are alive, they didn't waste their lives for no reason, how is that a bad thing ?... Then, Wrex on Virmire choice combined with the Maelon's data choice, which I obviously can't talk too much about to not spoil future events for Basic, so I need to walk on eggshells here. But umm... Having the "worst" choices of these two, not only allows us to save the life of one character in ME3 ( which I don't see as a bad thing, quite the opposite actually ) , and also, well... All I'll say is, the Krogan who replaces Wrex if he died on Virmire, he's too dumb to "figure it out" , allowing us to have support from both species, so hey, I see that as a very positive thing. Having the "good" choices in ME1 and ME2 causes us to lose support of one of the two sides, as opposed to the default choices of ME3 who allows us to get support from both, so, I don't see how that's the " worst version of everything " , hm. More like the "best version" to me. Not denying that some of those default choices are bad ( the dead crew members from ME2, for example, is bad, as well as the rachni queen being dead who is also bad, but considering how ME3 treats that choice, it doesn't actually matter if she's dead anyway, so... ) . But, all in all, the default choices are far from being that bad, and far from being the worst choices. Some are bad, yes. But, some are pretty good actually ( loosing 3 stubborn dummies to save hundreds of lives, that's a pretty good thing in my book ) , or at least not as bad as they seem.
I know it has been three months, but I just spent 20+ episodes of watching a lets play mainly for the face-timing of a picture, telling myself that this episode would be worth the wait... boy, was I ever right about that!
I started the three play from my two and while I'm playing through it all I can think is "how is basic going to react to this" and "she'll laugh so much at that"
Nice to see you having fun. 🙂 When you arrive on mars, just outside the shuttle, there’s an easter egg behind that array of solar collector panels. If you walk through them, following the right path, you’ll find a tiny version of the „Curiosity“ Mars Rover.
tip: literally investigate/scan everything in galaxies. you can get random war assets from just about every system. YOU NEED THIS FOR A PERFECT (ish) ENDING (up to you ofc)
They really wanted to hit you hard this first episode! I'm so excited to watch you experience this game! Just some friendly tips to help you. Missions marked "Priority" are story-related, so if you want to do literally anything else, do that first before a Priority mission. Also, your crew is a lot more dynamic this time around. While I can't guarantee they'll have new dialogue after every single mission, they will be much more chatty than in the past two games.
Note: Breakable glass tends to have faint, horizontal blue lines running across it. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Although I'm sure it must appear elsewhere, I can't think of any other missions where it's significant.
😂 I waited all these episodes and she accidentally skipped the most pivotal scene 😂 hands off the keyboard during cut scenes, just keep the mouse primed 😅
After a bit of research, I figured out that Shepard is Alliance NAVY and Kaiden/Ashley are Alliance Marines. Commander is Rank O-5 in The Alliance Navy and Major is O-4 in the Marines. Ashley actually is a bit weird, as she starts as a Gunnery Sergeant which is Alliance Marines, but then she gets promoted in Mass Effect 3 to Lieutenant Commander, which means she swapped from the Marines to the Navy.
Ashley's rank is based on "Enlisted" personnel, not officers. Her rank is of Gunnery Chief isn't equal to any US Marine rank, but might be similar to Gunnery Sergeant, E-7. Sometime after she was reassigned to the Normandy in ME1, she was likely given a switch from being an Enlisted Marine to an Officer in the Navy. We know the Alliance has Lieutenant Commander and Major before Commander, so it likely goes... Commander Lieutenant Commander Major Lieutenant This still makes my head spin a bit because the US Navy doesn't have a Major, but it is equal in rank to the Lieutenant Commander (both are O-4 designations).
@@MattRowland Well, I don't think the game ranks correspond to the US ranks though, that's why I think it confuses us who know the real life ranks. I went off the Mass Effect Wiki page, which is about as accurate as can be (in fact, the admins were quick to delete anything they viewed as speculation. Certain things said in Mass Effect 2 and understood by most of the playerbase was still deemed speculation until it was outright said in unmistakable terms in Mass Effect 3.) But yes, you are right she was Enlisted in Mass Effect 1, then must have become a Navy officer sometime between then and Mass Effect 3.

I was here for the premiere but still liking and leaving a comment to support my favorite streamer/youtuber 🩷 that reunion was everything! The tension.. the YEARNING.. tasty tasty stuff
Okay. This might be a hot take. But I feel like the Kaiden romance is the Femshep canon romance. Because come on. It adds so much more to the story if they are lovers. Period.
I love Kaidan, but if there is a Canon romance for either Shep it's gotta be Liara for both. It felt like she was pushed onto Shep the most. Especially with the Genesis comic before me2. Note how Shep describes Liara as opposed to literally the rest of the squad.
Debatable since Garrus romance tramps Kaidan in every aspect except interspecies relations and Liara makes truly special gestures. But to each their own
@@VladissimoTheMocker to each their own is right. That’s why I love this game. So many fun possibilities. Personally, I will always ship Garrus and Tali. 😁😁
@@willfanofmanyii3751 I personally love their friends relationship and I will always ship Garrus and Tali. 😁😁. But that’s the beauty of the game…so many options.
@@MsMythable I hooked up with Tali in ME2 while Liara was busy... uhh... flaying people alive and then promptly ran back to my blue ME1 cutie and never looked back) That being said, finding Tali and Garrus in gunnery made me feel sliiightly~ irritated😂
I noticed you really appreciate the chance to play through the trilogy in one go. I totally agree that it's something amazing and definitely an experience that many of us, including your viewers, didn't have. But it wasn't too bad back then! The seventh console generation brought a lot of great series, with new games coming out every two to three years, each with noticeably richer gameplay. I think you can see this clearly with Mass Effect :) It was also a great time for BioWare fans-not only did we not have to wait long for new releases, but after ME2, there were a series of post-launch DLCs (Kasumi, Firewalker, Overlord, and finally LotSB and Arrival-those last two planned as a narrative bridge between ME2 and ME3), so there was plenty to do even more than a year after the game's release. For the most dedicated fans, there was time to replay the titles multiple times and have lively discussions with the community, including theorizing about what was coming next without worrying about spoilers. And we also had Dragon Age released alternately with Mass Effect, which I highly recommend, especially since a new installment is finally coming out this year! Anyway, I'm really happy that you're enjoying the game, and watching this gameplay is extremely satisfying. It's the kind of game where making different choices, trying out a different class, and experimenting with mechanics can give a completely different experience, so I highly encourage you to revisit the Mass Effect universe sometime in the future.
Its so fun to watch a girl playing this series. My romance was Liara but Kaiden was my best buddy along with Garrus. Kaiden has such a big heart and is so loyal, like a golden retriever but hes also quite moody sometimes lol
not sure the game has made it super clear so just to clarify it has been six months since The arrival DLC Shepard turned herself, the Normandy and the remaining cerberus crew over to the alliance (not the squad though). This is why Kaiden is strugling to trust, you were dead for two years, showed up again had an argument took down the collectors with help from a terrorist organisation and then got arrested for warcrimes against the Batarians, while leaving him on read. Fortunatly the Batarians won't really care anymore as they got hit by the reapers first out of the gate, the "cannibals" you fought on earth or the Batarian equivilent of husks which the reapers are using as ground troops for the invasion of the other species now that the Batarians who had no allies in council space have fallen. James was the main character of short mass effect anime series called "Paragon lost" he'll sum up the plot for you when you talk he's basicly here to ask the questions people new to the series might ask as well as buff the squad numbers since you can potentially lose a lot of squad members at the end of Mass effect 2.
@@basicwitgirl That was an actual game journalist/reporter for xbox live/microsoft back in the day. The devs decided to add her to the game for some reason. She was considered stupid, annoying and unnecessary by the audience at the time.
@@benhmn Jessica Chobot. And of course the Gamergate incel crowd had something to say about it. Anyway, she's good for "Support points" that get you the best ending, so it's dumb to not take her.
This comment section… Yikes! 🤦🏾♀️ Between the hateful comments about Kaidan (hey guys, remember that saying? “To each, their own”? Ring any bells?), the comments that explain way too much (Guys! She’s never played Mass Effect before! Mind your spoilers!), the comments where people share their opinions (and bias) that nobody asked AND the comments that tell you what you did was wrong… Man, let the girl enjoy her very FIRST Mass Effect playthrough, let her play the way SHE wants it! Keep the tagline “Your Shepard. Your story", in mind!! Jeez!! Hopefully, when you read these comments, you’re far ahead enough in the story for your game not to be spoiled. Anyway, let’s forget the negativity and focus on the positivity. Basique, great video once again. I love watching you play, and RP as Shepard and your gushing over Kaidan.😁 I've played the trilogy 25+ times and when I launch ME3, I too marvel at the fact that I'm already starting the 3rd game. The story is so interesting, the storytelling is so compelling and the characters are so great that you have to play but on the other hand, you do not want to finish the trilogy. It happens to me every time!! I don't know about you but when the Reapers debark, for a few seconds there, I can't help but to be feel smug, yelling at my screen "See? I told you so!!". And then, Shepard puts their big hero pants on and goes save the galaxy but still... Shepard deserves that short moment of pettiness: they spend 3+ years warning them and nobody, except Anderson and Hackett would listen!! Ngl, I was looking forward to watching you react at the Cerberus synthetic beating Kaidan up live but alas ME3 glitched. It must have been super confusing to see Kaidan on the floor without proper explanation, no? 😅 Oh, and kudos to your editor, Taylor. I LOL's hard, when she removed the letter "d" from "loved" in Kaidan's quote. 🤣🤣 Buckle up, this is a wild ride, a true emotional roller coaster. This is the real deal: you’ll see the consequences of all your previous choices unfold. Are you ready? I’m glad to be part of your journey! This is going to be fun, and sad, and all the emotions in between. One last thing, how great is the prologue's music?🤩
Well that as quite the beginning. This whole episode can be called the "how to get Kaiden back" episode, 🤣🤣🤣 Sniping skills are on par. Seems like Kaiden was playing hard to get the whole time, just to end up in your arms!! It was a fun beginning to what is a very strong emotional game, so saddle up for the ride. Basicwitgirl get ready for one heck of a ride!!!
@@basicwitgirl I wont luv him or really like him but I will comprimise with you on that I like how you like him and its entertaining watching you ride the kadien emotionally rollercoaster 🤣🤣
Interesting tid bit about ammo. The guns have built in ammo which can't be removed or replaced without taking the gun apart. Each gun has enough for hundreds of thousands of shots, but the guns can over heat and break. A heat sync is needed to absorb the heat the gun produces so it won't break, melt and possibly explode after 1 shot. The ammo the game is referring to its the disposable heat syncs that can only absorb a set amount of heat per gun. The heat syncs I believe are made of diamond and the guns are designed to be unable to fire without a functioning heat sync installed so you don't kill yourself.
I am so looking forward to seeing how this plays out! ME3 is going to ask a lot of Basique Shepard. Can't wait to see how our girl handles herself in this rallying support role! Fun, frustration and tears incoming 🍿😆🤣 PS: Breakable glass will have the destroy markings the series used on other objects to alert you to shoot (a red square with dotted lines around it).
Out here in the real world, the rank of Major is equal to Lieutenant Commander. So Commander would be a step above a Major. But probably more relevant is that a Commander is the title of the commanding officer or a vessel. So even if a Major was on the same ship and technically outranked the Commander, the Commander would still be the one giving orders and the Major would be obligated to follow them, as the orders of his or her commanding officer. So nah, Basique Shepherd is absolutely in the right position to be giving Kaiden orders.
I wish I had watched this the same day you were playing. Glad you went with Infiltrator since that's my play style. Do you ever cloak before sniping? It makes the damage so much higher.
DUDE😲 you turned down Diana Allers request to come aboard?? Lmfao😂 in all my many play throughs, I never even thought to turn her down😂😂😂 must be a guy thang. Left me in stitches. Enjoyed💪✌
@basicwitgirl - one thing about ME3 that I know you'll enjoy. You can run w/o getting Fatigued. Also, thevTactical cloak comes in handy in ME3, especially in some later stages. When you can, spend time listening to the conversations going on, leave and come back, and see if they continue. Some will continue after missions. You'll see how everyone is being affected. Oh, and if I am correct... Dr. Michel. She is the one. You know what I mean lmao
In this game you need war assets to help you win the war, not to spoil anything but it's basically depending on the options you make. And Diana Allers is a valuable part for that, because you'll get a lot of war assets through her, because she will ask for interviews after important events, and depending on what you say, it will give you support, aka war assets, and getting a lot of war assets is affecting the end of the game😇
00:06:50 James is the person who asks all the questions new players need answered when they didn't play ME1 and ME2. I'm still slightly peed off they didn't make him a Batarian. Could have had some awesome dialogue tied into the Arrival DLC.
I am man enough to admit that the opening of this game broke me a little bit. 😂 EDIT: heres a bit of Trivia. IIRC, Vancouver is/was the Capital of either the United North American States (Canada, the US, and Mexico merged into one country) or the Earth Capitol of the Systems Alliance.
Both Ashley and Shepard are Systems Alliance Navy and both are Lt. Commanders in ME3. Kaidan is Alliance Military. I think the idea was to make the Virmire survivor and Shepard equal. And yes, Bailey does outrank both Kaidan and Shepard.
A little known detail about the rachnii, the reapers were controlling them in the Rachnii war. The queen in ME1 weren't under their control, also they are AMAZING workers and engineers
WHAT AN INCREDIBLE START OH MY GOSH... I am SO ready, but also NOT AT ALL ready!! This first playthrough of Mass Effect 3 is completely blind and unspoiled, so please let's keep it that way by keeping backseating to a minimum!
@basicwitgirl We should've prepared more 😃 it's about to get intense. I love the "Grenades don't refill my ammo.." bit 😆 Taylor getting cheeky 😜
I'm so glad you did it as a premiere because that was so fun. I'm now going to watch it a second time because I am sure I missed a lot by watching chat. This was great Basic!
You need to prep for stress, they ampt up the stakes in this one, good luck

Yeah, my personal distaste for Kaiden is because in my head he's Carth from KoToR, and my general relationship with him from that game is the same as Picard and Westley Crusher. My literal response to Kaiden in ME1 when i first heard him speak was "Shut up Carth". It was downhill from there for me. Its nice/refreshing seeing someone in the Kaiden love camp.
Kaiden and Ashley are super annoying when first going to Mars.

The problem with Kaiden is that his arc is pretty much complete when you meet him. You learn about brain camp and what he did Vernus but he's over it and moved on by the time of M.E 1. There's potential development for him. I always just found him a bit... Dull. My own opinion, of course

Shepard is a Commander of the Navy (O5) while Kaiden is a Major of the Marines (O4). You still outrank him.
Doesn't really matter since she only calls him "babe."
I'm glad someone else answered this, I was about to. Lol

What is this O5 and O4? Shepherd is a Lieutenant Commander and Kaiden being a Major is 2 ranks higher.

@@JediZelda1 hehehe literally figure it out next ep😂
Liara walked a long way from that young and naive scientist in the 1st part. But she is clearly terrible in hiding her identity.
@@MattRowland so confusing!! So you’re telling me that Commander Bailey is also now ahead of Kaidan?!😂

Whoa! A first player I've seen that rejected Diana Alers. I wonder how it will continue without her.

@@gillesibub I mean, Cerberus IS terrible…he makes an excellent point!! 🥰
They really should have subtitled this;
"Mass Effect 3: There Will be Tears"
Hope you brought tissues.
Funny story, ME3 was my first Mass Effect game, I saw it on clearance for $5 and decided that was cheap enough to try out. I got the worst version of everything because it defaulted all the choices of 1 and 2 to "you were an idiot for not playing" :P
Yeah default ME3 is playing a Shepard who speedruns the first 2 chapters with all the choices of a renegade. the absolute worst

Commander
Lieutenant Commander
Major
Lieutenant
This still makes my head spin a bit because the US Navy doesn't have a Major, but it is equal in rank to the Lieutenant Commander (both are O-4 designations).

I love Kaidan, but if there is a Canon romance for either Shep it's gotta be Liara for both. It felt like she was pushed onto Shep the most. Especially with the Genesis comic before me2. Note how Shep describes Liara as opposed to literally the rest of the squad.

I think you can see this clearly with Mass Effect :)
It was also a great time for BioWare fans-not only did we not have to wait long for new releases, but after ME2, there were a series of post-launch DLCs (Kasumi, Firewalker, Overlord, and finally LotSB and Arrival-those last two planned as a narrative bridge between ME2 and ME3), so there was plenty to do even more than a year after the game's release.
It's the kind of game where making different choices, trying out a different class, and experimenting with mechanics can give a completely different experience, so I highly encourage you to revisit the Mass Effect universe sometime in the future.

not sure the game has made it super clear so just to clarify it has been six months since The arrival DLC Shepard turned herself, the Normandy and the remaining cerberus crew over to the alliance (not the squad though).

I've played the trilogy 25+ times and when I launch ME3, I too marvel at the fact that I'm already starting the 3rd game. The story is so interesting, the storytelling is so compelling and the characters are so great that you have to play but on the other hand, you do not want to finish the trilogy. I don't know about you but when the Reapers debark, for a few seconds there, I can't help but to be feel smug, yelling at my screen "See? I told you so!!".
The beginning of ME3 is so fucking good... As long as you don't look down and don't see the cursed 2D models running in the street lmao

PS: Breakable glass will have the destroy markings the series used on other objects to alert you to shoot (a red square with dotted lines around it).
Enjoyed💪✌
I’m sure it’ll be fine 🤭
LMAO It will 👍 Keep doing your thing, enjoying u💪✌️🌻
12:14 and thats exactly. I am about to take tali and go hide in some place at the edge of the galaxy where reapers never foung us
Btw i spend 56 hours on firsr two games and nos started the 3. Is awesome games
You can drag and drop the power you want into any position. You can also drag and drop your squadmates' powers to quick use.
You know what I mean lmao
to buy whiskey in the hospital .. Kaidan "yea this is the future I like dude " .. cheers 01:38:46 🤣🙂✨
The Saga of Timothy and Babe continues.
Love that you told Allers to kick rocks lol. Get that IGN review bribe outta' here.
This is the perfect thumbnail 👌
So excited!
00:06:50 James is the person who asks all the questions new players need answered when they didn't play ME1 and ME2.
I'm still slightly peed off they didn't make him a Batarian. Could have had some awesome dialogue tied into the Arrival DLC.
Wasn't he introduced is some story between games, like Miranda and Jacob were?
(I've not seen those stories so don't know for certain)
Let's go Basicwitgirl!💪✌😄
I am man enough to admit that the opening of this game broke me a little bit. 😂
EDIT: heres a bit of Trivia. IIRC, Vancouver is/was the Capital of either the United North American States (Canada, the US, and Mexico merged into one country) or the Earth Capitol of the Systems Alliance.
1:38:05 Phew! Dogded a bullet right there. 👍
No one ever seems to notice that Shepard is being held in an Alliance detention center.
Season 3 lets gooo!! I cant wait
You're not on the Citadel in the opening.. you're on Earth.
Both Ashley and Shepard are Systems Alliance Navy and both are Lt. Commanders in ME3. Kaidan is Alliance Military. I think the idea was to make the Virmire survivor and Shepard equal. And yes, Bailey does outrank both Kaidan and Shepard.
I nominate this beginning sequence as one of the best in gaming. I personally rate ME2 above ME3 (just by a little), but this prologue is top-notch.
btw in ME3 make sure to look upwards often, the skybox is great
Killed the Rachni queen but saved the human hating council.... The exact opposite of all my playthroughs lol
I was kinda wanting to watch your reaction to Kaiden’s head getting smashed, and you DIDNT EVEN SEE IT 😭😭😭
@@bros1183 BioWare tried to save me!!
A little known detail about the rachnii, the reapers were controlling them in the Rachnii war. The queen in ME1 weren't under their control, also they are AMAZING workers and engineers
1:38:24 Fun fact, the authors of The Expanse are Mass Effect fans. Once you finish ME3, you just might see lots of parallels between the two series.
