Annelle Sheline, a former staffer with President Biden’s State Department, discusses the reasoning behind why she left her post, namely the Biden administration’s efforts to continue to supply military assistance to the Israeli military’s offensive in Gaza.

Anelle Sheline then joins, diving right into the context for her resignation in protest from Biden’s State Department, exploring her work on Yemen that preceded joining the government, and the continuing human rights work she participated in over the first year of her contract with the government. After parsing through the major factor - Biden’s continuing support for Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza - for her resignation, Sheline parses through some of the greater (albeit immaterial) dissent within the Biden government, including a State Department that is well-prepared to begin enforcing the human rights and arm-sales policies that the US is currently circumventing to support Israel’s war, also touching on why the electoral pressure of the “uncommitted” vote is having the biggest sway on Biden in terms of dissent. Next, Anelle walks Emma through the greater implications of Biden’s support for apartheid on a global scale, including how it plays into the US’ already degrading status on the international stage following the Iraq War and Donald Trump, and Israel’s continuing insistence on expanding the conflict throughout the Middle East, before wrapping up by touching on the role of the Abraham Accords in pushing this conflict, and the overwhelming domestic dissent facing Israel’s occupation (despite warming relations with some regimes). Emma also parses through the various “uncommitted” movements in today’s democratic primaries, and Wisconsin’s ballot initiatives.

Annelle is a true hero. Resigning in protest is very hard to do, especially knowing that her direct expertise set is only valued by capitalist hegemony. She made the stand for the right side of history.

If anyone had read the Department of State's 2022 Human Rights Report covering Israel, West Bank and the Gaza Strip; it clearly lays out the issues which existed prior to October 7th, 2023. The content of the prior year report explicitly laid out the violations of humanitarian law by participants in Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Point blank, the President is in violation of international and humanitarian law as we speak.
Along with the American Taxpayers and American voters down to the Cell level interesting times

I think biden is taking advantage of the presidency for agenda related to his religion. He has gone bloody mary while the catholic community is being surveillanced by FBI. Christian and Jewish channels are flooded with comments demanding jews to convert blindly. But the muslims are being skipped. Some Christians are trying to be fake jews (getting caught) claiming they wholeheartedly now accept the Christian version of Jesus but continue being in Judaism. Something isnt right here.

While true, people should not forget all the men and boys that have also been murdered during this ongoing genocide. We find the women & children being killed as particularly egregious because they are almost certainly not a part of any of the organized fighting, but that doesn't mean all of the men & young boys ARE. Extremely minor detail, but I'm a little surprised I haven't seen anybody comment on the optics of Biden saying he was going to have a "come to Jesus talk" with a Jew.

It’s tragic that I find comfort in others feeling deeply about these issues. The hawks get much more support than those of us who want peace, aka the doves. When our nation’s primary focus is on wealth and might rather on doing what’s right, our leaders’ hypocrisy is revealed. If there were a reasonable candidate running against Biden, I would vote for them based on our current foreign policy. But I have to place defeating fascism in our country over doing what is right in the world. It makes me feel sick to have no other choice. If Israel successfully starts another world war, it may not matter who is our president except for whose side we are on.

He says he was inspired by Bushnell & the fact that his death is virtually UN acknowledged. I’ve seen interviews on our local news & I think a couple podcasts.
