I think she also performed 'Mad About You' on Late Night with David Letterman that same year, 1986. I love Belinda, and the 1980's was the greatest decade in music.
The Gogos version sounded drastically different from this and I don't think it would've been a hit at all. The arrangement and production that they used on Belinda's solo album was much more fitting for the song than the original 1985 demo
OK, so Paul Reiser, who got bumped from the end of this show, was apparently in the greenroom as Belinda Carlisle sang "Mad About You." I wonder if he remembered this performance and tried to get the song to be the theme for the "Mad About You" show (which I think was a few years after this). I bet he tried, but perhaps it was just too expensive. Studios and producers are often cheap when it comes to music, and perhaps licensors are too demanding. In any case, the show wound up with a different theme but still had the same title as the song performed here. Interesting coincidence!
The Go Go's are the perfect example how drugs and band member disagreements can destroy careers and success. All they had to do was stay healthy and come together as a solid unit and they all would have been incredibly successful for LIFE. I've seen how first hand a group can destroy itself right in the beginning cause they're too ignorant to get over themselves.
each member of that band is worth millions still to this day. They just don't really get along that well when they are together. So they tour occasionally and then they go back to their own lives and careers. Belinda and Charlotte were the only two in the band they were never friends with each other. The rest of them it was just a job. and I think it's safe to say them breaking up was probably for the best because the solo work that Belinda went on to create was far superior to anything that the Gogos ever did as a unit. And she just now at 64 years old released some of her best work ever with her new release "Kismet".
@@taylorh4480 The "FANS" are what make a performer successful. IF you're not paying attention to them then failure is your future. Look at Tayor Swift, she knows how to schmooze her fans and keep them buying. The GO GO's and The Beatles, though still reasonably successful just didn't get it as far as fandom is concerned. You can still see it today in some of the actors who have turned their backs on the very people that go them all that money and fame. Yes, I get it that you can't live your life just for your fans as it takes management and timing. And maybe some psychological help to deal with it all. Just look at the famous people that have died too early cause they mentally could not deal with their own fame. So many just starting out trying to get someone to listen to them or like their talent or songs and then, BAM! They jump on a bobsled riding down a mountain right in front of an avalanche. So the rest of their lives, it's keeping that "avalanche" from devouring them with suffocating attention especially when they're not in the mood to accept it. And that's when they turn to alternative crutches like drugs or bizarre behavior due to their mental stress.
For the Go Go's, it was a when their new management took over, it became a business and money. Everything changed, Gina was jealous that Charlotte and Jane got more money because they wrote all their hits. Jane wanted to sing on the last album, she was told no because Belinda was voice and of the band. Ego's got too all of them and it was the band's downfall.

Seriously? Carson is regarded by a strong majority of the people as the GOAT of late night TV. He had a very quick wit and was extremely talented. He did slow down a bit in the years leading up to his retirement though.
She is stunningly beautiful.
I remember this album and this appearance. I have this album on cassette and still play it. It's wonderful. Thanks.😊
Always nice seeing Belinda and Charlotte together
belinda Carlisle has always been gorgeous and will be. You dont find them like her anymore.
Belinda's eyes are amazingly beautiful. Stop you right in your tracks.
Belinda is always a little shy during interviews and I find that so endearing.
When I think of sunny California, I think of 80's Belinda.
Mad About You is 100% California sunshine in musical form
I always think of the Go-Gos driving in a convertible! Kinda like the video for Head Over Heels!!!
Yeah.
Even at that young age, Belinda was poised and elegant. 💛
Our California sunshine!! Best time to be a kid. Life was peaceful

August 86' I was 21, loved Belinda, The GoGos and the 80's. 😀
I was in love with Belinda from age 13 in 1980. lol. This album was so awesome
I first was in love with Martha Quinn but I moved on to Belinda!!! LOL 51 years old and I’m still single LOVING Belinda!!!
Gotta Get To You should have been a single. Still puzzled why I Feel the Magic wasn't a huge hit.
When she still had her natural hair color. What a talent!
I miss Johnny, late night was never the same, love Conan and Letterman but Johnny was the G.O.A.T.
@SamanthaDear-mk4ms : Johnny Carson was the best, and Jay Leno.
Great hair metal backing band.
Fr. Guido Sarducci. wow!!
I Feel the Magic was an inexplicably overlooked single.
Girl can sing!!!
Dang it, I should’ve watched this, I just fell in love with her again 😊
Mad About You was written for the Go-Go's, it would have been another one of their hits... but it was meant for gorgeous Belinda in her solo career.

@@taylorh4480 wasnt she in the germs before that?
@@tomace194 Yes. She was one of the Germs...

Such a unique sounding singer
belinda ,charlotte 💚💎
Voice face and curves that make men stutter.
And sober
Belinda❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful woman.
so sweet
definitely charlotte caffey on keyboard
In the second tune. She played the black acoustic guitar in the first tune.
Yep. Charlotte has talked about how she was in a bad place when Go-Gos broke up, and Belinda asking to tour with her helped turn things around.
АЛИХАН. ✋️👍💯❤️🌹🇺🇲🇷🇺🇩🇪
❤️
Belinda was visionary. Her idea of raising pigs as household mascots was ahead of its time. 25 years later it would have been a really good business
Check out her earings, like pepples from flintstones all grown up❤
❤❤❤
Sigh.belinda heart
Shes so high.
She admitted that she and the GoGo's gave Hollywood the high they wanted. She gave it up in the mid 2010s.

charlotte caffey on guitar?
Yes. She played guitar and keyboards and did background vocals on Belinda's first solo record
She was so much prettier when she ditched the Go-Go's haircut a year later.
Gold! She craps all over Madonna or Beyonce all day
From the germs to this. Hollywood is fucked.
Mullet mania!
She ended up giving her pig away
