I'm a fan right since their start in the 80s but lost touch a bit around the time of this show, then I saw it live on MTV by chance and was - again - overwhelmed about their stage presence. Dave is such an awesome performer, and if there is one thing I regret in my life it's the fact I've never seen them live (but I hope I will during their next tour!)

The show I saw in Salt Lake was so amazing Alan WIlder mentioned it specifically over 15 years later as an awesome show. Let's you know of the 1000's of shows he's done how great that show was.

GODDAMN! See thats one good thing about awards shows like this....when a band is "on" they can pour all that energy into one song like that...even the background singers are giving 110%!!! Oh baby, everybody left EVERYTHING on stage that night! Made me want to crawl thru my computer screen and be a part of it.
I remember that day, that performance well and I never forget it... As you know this MTV Music Award was in Frankfurt and Germany crazily loves Depeche Mode. The band was on their top with a sold-out, successful tour then they were only nominated to a webpage award and they did not win... This was the weirdest MTV show I had ever seen. The whole crowd and the bands wanted they to perform. Before and after performances the crowd shouted "Depeche Mode" all along.They "barred" show from going on.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance so far, but I hope they will return to the Cologne arena one day and if they do, I will be there! I remember watching Martin on TV singing "Home" in Cologne in 1998, and even on TV it made me cry.
How does this track always make my eyes misty...crazy. DM live are not themselves at all but something cool different alltogether. The addition of Eigner makes them feel much like a rock band. Most of the sound intricacies are all gone but it still shakes the soul. NLMD definitely the highlight of every live show of theirs... This, Personal Jesus and Enjoy the Silence must not be absent from any of their concerts :) The new studio stuff just doesn't do it for me tho. New Album in 2013 :.|
