    For all the "wise guys".
This is not a real time recording, it is edited to create some tension so that you guys can guess the tracks too.
It doesn’t say anything about how fast any of the participants recognized a track. So stay cool and just have fun guessing the tracks as well.

That's the funny part of these blint test games for djs....when you have thousands of records you start remembering them by colours, packaging etc... but you always know the sounds on it ...and that's why this is so amazing to watch , how they identify tracks by sound 😍😍😍 I really enjoyed all the episodes so far. Mostly the techno one with Ellen Alien

My friend and I play a game... We choose 3 tracks and send them to each other. The other selects their favourite, then take their turn to recommend another 3. When we have enough records to make a 90 minute mix, we make a mix each and send the results to each other. We call them "collaborative" mixes. We've been doing this for 15 years. It's such a joy to share this music with each other.

I definitely have tunes that I rinse but never know the name of. Sometimes you just know what the sleeve looks like and it's position in the create or as the track after the other track in that folder. It's all good until you're trying to write a tracklist for a recorded mix and you have to get a tune id on a tune you presumably knew the name of when you bought it but is now lost due to labelling complacency on your part.

I recognized The Mole People track as I had a Strictly Rhythm compilation album. I also knew "My Feeling for You" from the Electric Daisy Festival album; I thought Avicci worked his magic on that one but this must've been the original. "Livin' for the Night" is wonderful but there must've been a dozen records that re-cycled that chord pattern, which I thought originated with either Inner City's "Good Life". or "Understand This Groove". House music used lots of minor chords and sometimes sounded spooky- nocturnal and dark, befitting an era that had its own pandemic that was even worse in outcome than the one we have now although not as easily contagious. People who weren't on the front lines or even yet born may not know AIDS started in 1980 and did not begin to abate until around 1997 when the first successful "drug cocktail"was discovered to treat it. House music helped me cope with it as I was a social worker in a big city hospital back then.. House music and Mr. Smirnoff helped a lot on the weekends.

I have thousands of 90s house, breaks and techno records and only a handful of them could I tell you the artist and song titles. However, if you play me a bar from any of the songs on my records and I could pick the dust jacket of that record out of a pile of thousands. Conversely, if you showed me the dust jacket I could hum the songs on that record. Again, zero idea who the artists or song titles are. I don’t know what it is that causes my brain to act like this but it’s really helpful when you’re trying to find that one record you want to play next in a dark DJ booth. Switching to digital really screwed my brain up and I had to set up my work flow to include thumbnails of the album covers. Props to anyone who can recall the artist and song title of these 25-30 year old tracks.
