I've found that some of the die cutting machines for card making, especially the ones with adjustable rollers, work really well imprinting in leather. (Ask before you borrow your Nana's cuttlebug!) Just be careful using bought dies/ embossing folders and selling the item in case it breaches copyright ☺️
    Happy crafting folks!

Ok, I love this channel. I just started in the leather working world and by do I have questions🤣 I thought I'd do something easy for a book cover but I'm having trouble trying to gage the depth of my lines. My design is a very simple Celtic knot. A buddy of mine suggested using a stylus or something to press in the edges instead of a bevel🤷🏽‍♂️ thoughts? Comments? I wish I could post a picture so someone could critique this😅😅

Just incase folks are curious, Diresta likes to use some things from woodworking that are not correct for leather. PVA glue is a HUGE no-no for leather as it is WAY too stiff and will crumble/flake over time as the leather flexes. If you're looking for glues, use any contact cement and you wont have to do any clamping and will have a much longer lasting product.
As well, you should ALWAYS add an oil onto the leather after dyeing and before your topcoat. Dyeing leather uses a solvent which sucks all of the natural oils out of the leather. Use something like a neatfoots oil (good penetrating liquid) to add all of that natural oil back into the piece. If you skip this step the pieces become hard like wood, and will crack very easily.

I too like the softer glues for most applications. How do you feel about bee's wax as a top coat? I have had very good results on several dyed, stitched and heat treated collars.

Carolina would be backwards in a footprint but not great for branding. Stamps came out great!
Do you prefer the topcoat you used to the weaver atom wax? Looking to get an order in once they can ship in spring.

Well, that's another technique to add to the "yard sale". 🤣

I dye my leather also. Putting a top coat on it will give it that shine? Is there any way to get close to like a finished leather?

Wet your leather before lasering as well to minimize thr charred edges.
