That corner/edge of the stock, where the lighting and reflections change dramatically in a small area, was the perfect place to hide your seam. Very nice use of the surface properties and the camera to create this.

I have seen a video a while back about reading something and (I am not sure exactly what it was because it was a while back) I think there were some missing words/letters or something and it was timed also I think. I remember reading it quickly and then the man asked if we had seen the mistakes. I didn’t remember seeing any. My brain had enough information that it filled in what was missing but I hadn’t realized it as I was reading. Anyways, it’s just interesting to see how your brain will work under certain conditions.

The illusion was drawn up by an artist many decades ago. I don't think it was "done" back then. It was purely imaginary.

Cold welds are OK for stuff like this but will break if you lean on 'em.
