    Thanks for this. To think my grannys family lived around the area at this time, and her dad was in the territorial army at this time too!

      @@alittlebitofhistory he was in the 2nd volunteer battery, the n the 4th suffolks. But I know nothing more, however, I've been trying for years to find stuff about him and the Parnell family. 👍

      @@mama_b_7525 Just had to ask the 5th Norfolk's to heavy losses at Gallipoli and later at Gaza. If you are looking for more about his war record have you tried contacting the Suffolk regiment museum they might be able to find something for you.

    I enjoy all your offerings, thank you. Just by the way Ypres is pronounced "Eepre" no s on the end... the old guys said it "wipers" and gaol is pronounced the same way as jail ... Friesland is pronounced "freeze-land" not "fries-land".

      Every British soldier called Ypres 'Wipers.' What anyone else called it didn't matter a damn to them.
