I think Sizhui represents the best parts of Wei Ying and Lan Zan. He has the cool level headed and calmness of the Lan clan that comes from him being raised by Lan Zan, but you can see that when he is around Wei Ying, and the more time he spends with Wei Ying, he becomes more outspoken, a little bit impulsive and more confident. He is the best combination of Lan Zan and Wei Ying, and to think he had only 1-2years with WY and still the time with him really shaped his character into a great person. Props to Lan Zan for helping raise such a great kid. He even said he is like a brother/father to him :)
I did not bawl my eyes out, but I sobbed! The actor who played Wen Ning did an excellent job carrying his emotions and trying to control it. I love this drama and have watched this ep several times.

In the book it makes more sense since the juniors were supposed to only be around 13. In the drama they're older than that so how they're treated seems a bit odd.

in addition to the age difference in the drama vs. the novel, lwj and wwx's gen were brought up in an era of worsening sect relations and eventually war, rather than peacetime, so i think there's a bit of that too. wwx mentions this in the novel.
I felt like a proud mother seeing Yuan growing up to be so humble, sweet and smart. Lan Zhan really raised him well. Literally couldn't stop my tears after Wen Ning reunited with Yuan
The scene at the dock is so profoundly emotional for me. Orphaned Jin Ling represents Wei Ying’s greatest mistake/guilt as he finally let out his grief about losing his parents. Sizhui, the sole living descendant of the hated Wen Sect, signifies Wei Ying’s immense kindness. Wei Ying’s internal struggle is manifested in the fight between these two, and their reconciliation later is Wei Ying coming to term with his mistake and moving forward with his clear conscience. I still can’t get over the parallels and MXTX is truly a brilliant writer.
I agree. The more I watch these episodes, the more I am amazed by the writer’s brilliance. He/She made all the incomprehensible pieces together to make sense in the end, and also, the way wwx argues and reasons with his opponents are also very intelligent and logical. Often in many dramas, I see lots of episodes are there just to drag the show, making the show extremely boring. In contrast, every time I rewatch this drama, I always find something new that I haven’t discovered before. It adds more meaning and ideas to me. This is what distinguishes the best from mediocre drama! 👍
Sizhui has been my favorite when I first read the novel, and the actor playing him is just so perfect. Sizhui is so sweet, and so pretty. How he is so caring towards Wen Ning when no one else wanted to even talk to him, I almost cried it's too cute. The casting director should get a raise, and the actors should win an oscar.

I love how the younger generation of cultivators is realizing that not everything their elders believe is necessarily right. You can just tell that most of them will be more discerning than their elders. This story teaches so much; one of the many reasons I love it.
honestly in every drama it's the GOSSIP and everything it causes that kills the main character. I'm glad for characters like the juniors that can see through the bs :)

I just love the little ducklings. They're so different from one another but you can see that they'll be the best leaders in the future, taught and respectful of the old ways but capable of forging their own paths and thinking for themselves. Sizhui is a fearless angel, JingYi has no filter for his mouth, Zizhen is the funny but good-natured ragamuffin, and then we have Jin Ling. He may be a brat but you really can't help feeling sorry for him. People are constantly telling him how ill-mannered he is and that it's because he has no mother and then he has to deal with the people who everyone *says* killed his parents getting a second chance at life while his parents remain dead. On top of that, Jiang Cheng is always berating him, like he can never do anything right, and now he's finding out that his supposedly good and perfect uncle is actually an evil genius. He just can't catch a break.

I actually feel really bad for Jin Ling, I mean he doesn't have anyone who can comfort him as in a parent figure. Jiang Cheng might be too busy with his position so Jin Ling doesn't have anyone who he can rely on so he just hugs his father's sword to get comfort and all
Not to mention his other father figure (Jin GuangYao) is currently being accused of being a despicable traitor while his older brother/cool uncle figure has been revealed as the guy who killed his parents. Poor Jin Ling has been through a lot because all of his uncles are idiots.
That's why I actually think the almost friendship he has with the Gusu's disciples is a good thing, because that may be the first friends he might have had in who knows how many years. It's a good thing for him to have people of his age around him who he can count on.

Sure Huaisang had his own selfish reasons but it this give Xian a second chance. And idk about trust or support but Huaisang did and does admire Wuxian. He believes in Xian's strength and intelligence that's why he chose to bring him back.
Love how everyone is having the most touching but also most tense family reunion out on the dock and wangxian is just chilling and doing some meditation

I feel so bad for Jin Ling, he is so confused, he knows that it was Ghost General who killed his father but he doesn't know how and why it happened, who actually did it and now everyone wants him to respect Wen Ning but he is just too confused and hurt, he doesn't know what really happened, he's just in pain beacuse he lost both of his parents :( he even cares about WWX despite of what others think about him, I mean- at some point he might be irritating but you can actually understand him so well, he resembles his mother a lot, you just have to notice how pure his heart is
Fun fact: in the novel, WWX pretended to still be faint so he could rest his head on LZ's lap the whole trip back to Lotus Cove. LZ affectionately held WWX's head steady so he wouldn't get a crook in his neck while all the juniors watched *blushing hard*. Our WWX is truly shameless 😈 and Hubby LZ is the sweetest 🥰
It actually gets to a point where the juniors leave kind of embarrassed and confused about the atmosphere between the two, Lan Zhan locks the cabin door and is holding Wei Ying in his arms. Wei Ying does lament waking up though

I don't think they explain it in the drama but these swordsman carry what are called Qiankun pouches (the thing that Sizhui pulls his guqin out of.) They are magical bags that can shrink many things down to fit in a single bag and they carry the pouches themselves in their giant sleeves. So it is very likely that they keep clothes, food, extra supplies, etc. in there 😂

Like, I don't think changing my clothes is a priority while trying to get to a safe place to rest as we have our energy sealed 😂 And if we ignored that detail of rush and injury.... They literally stopped to have a group outfit change... somewhere... 🤔 I guess if we consider a big time skip of a few hours, they could have stopped at Yiling or any other small village along the way to change and care for the injured. Basically we can make any amount of excuses for this to make sense 😂
@@Luzrian in the novel it's also kind of explained that the trip to Yunmeng takes quite a few hours, then they rested in Yunmeng and THEN the meeting started, so there was more than enough time to get presentable and treat the injured. In the live action, it's around mid-day when they leave the port and nighttime at the start of the meeting so the timelapse makes a bit more sense. In Chinese culture, respect, public image (a.k.a. face) and presentability are a huge deal, so for Chinese viewers it's probably not that rare that everyone would take time to look decent before discussing important stuff.

Because I do agree that logically when they are at Yunmeng, they would be able to take the time to do all that. But what I said originally was at the point when they were up at the Burial Mounds coming down to the dock/port before heading off on the boats to Yunmeng. Which all we saw was them saying they should go to Yunmeng since it was the closest, Wei Wuxian collapsing and then we jumped over to the dock scene. So that leads to my later comment on there could have been any amount of reasons/excuses that could be given on why they did have a change during that jump. Not saying that it wouldn't happen, just saying it wasn't shown/hinted so it is kind of funny/interesting to think about in that context. Regardless it doesn't change anything to the enjoyment, just an observation that got me.
Only Wei Wuxian would use himself as bait to protect everyone. I love that character. The reunion for Wen Ning was so sweet and I felt so bad for Jin Ling when he clutched his father's sword.

You won't find out even in the very last episode, so if you wanna know, the reason SiSi was saved, is because she once protected/stood up for JinGuangYao's mother when they worked in the same brothel. The maid was just paid off as Wei Wuxian suspected.

(Qin Su's mother) we never actually see Madam Qin only her daughter who of course is married to Jin Guang Yao. The maid reveals the huuuuge secret that Madam Qin was raped by Jin Guang Shan aka clan leader Jin (JGY and JZX biological father) Madam Qin was married to a trusted comrade of Jin Guang Shan, and one night while he was drunk, he took advantage of her and later forgot about it, but Madam Qin couldn't forget it because she became pregnant with Qin Su. This reveal basically shows that Jin Guang Yao and Qin Su are biological half-siblings, same father, different mothers. Before Madam Qin died she tried to secretly tell Jin Guang Yao that Qin Su is his sister and to please call off the wedding, but Jin Guang Yao after learning that, went ahead and married his half sister anyway (for currently unknown reason,) sorry it was 2 months later, but just in case no one ever explained it :) or if someone else is confused in the future~🌟

I just love the little ducklings. They're so different from one another but you can see that they'll be the best leaders in the future, taught and respectful of the old ways but capable of forging their own paths and thinking for themselves.

He may be a brat but you really can't help feeling sorry for him. People are constantly telling him how ill-mannered he is and that it's because he has no mother and then he has to deal with the people who everyone *says* killed his parents getting a second chance at life while his parents remain dead. On top of that, Jiang Cheng is always berating him, like he can never do anything right, and now he's finding out that his supposedly good and perfect uncle is actually an evil genius. He just can't catch a break.

I don't think they explain it in the drama but these swordsman carry what are called Qiankun pouches (the thing that Sizhui pulls his guqin out of.) They are magical bags that can shrink many things down to fit in a single bag and they carry the pouches themselves in their giant sleeves. So it is very likely that they keep clothes, food, extra supplies, etc. in there 😂

And if we ignored that detail of rush and injury.... They literally stopped to have a group outfit change... somewhere... 🤔 I guess if we consider a big time skip of a few hours, they could have stopped at Yiling or any other small village along the way to change and care for the injured.

@@Luzrian in the novel it's also kind of explained that the trip to Yunmeng takes quite a few hours, then they rested in Yunmeng and THEN the meeting started, so there was more than enough time to get presentable and treat the injured. In the live action, it's around mid-day when they leave the port and nighttime at the start of the meeting so the timelapse makes a bit more sense. In Chinese culture, respect, public image (a.k.a. face) and presentability are a huge deal, so for Chinese viewers it's probably not that rare that everyone would take time to look decent before discussing important stuff.

Because I do agree that logically when they are at Yunmeng, they would be able to take the time to do all that. But what I said originally was at the point when they were up at the Burial Mounds coming down to the dock/port before heading off on the boats to Yunmeng. Which all we saw was them saying they should go to Yunmeng since it was the closest, Wei Wuxian collapsing and then we jumped over to the dock scene. So that leads to my later comment on there could have been any amount of reasons/excuses that could be given on why they did have a change during that jump. Not saying that it wouldn't happen, just saying it wasn't shown/hinted so it is kind of funny/interesting to think about in that context. Regardless it doesn't change anything to the enjoyment, just an observation that got me.

You won't find out even in the very last episode, so if you wanna know, the reason SiSi was saved, is because she once protected/stood up for JinGuangYao's mother when they worked in the same brothel. The maid was just paid off as Wei Wuxian suspected.
No one is completely good in this story and I like that.

@@auroraj161 sure! In the last 5 minutes Bicao is telling the story of her mistress Madam Qin. (Qin Su's mother) we never actually see Madam Qin only her daughter who of course is married to Jin Guang Yao. The maid reveals the huuuuge secret that Madam Qin was raped by Jin Guang Shan aka clan leader Jin (JGY and JZX biological father) Madam Qin was married to a trusted comrade of Jin Guang Shan, and one night while he was drunk, he took advantage of her and later forgot about it, but Madam Qin couldn't forget it because she became pregnant with Qin Su. This reveal basically shows that Jin Guang Yao and Qin Su are biological half-siblings, same father, different mothers. Before Madam Qin died she tried to secretly tell Jin Guang Yao that Qin Su is his sister and to please call off the wedding, but Jin Guang Yao after learning that, went ahead and married his half sister anyway (for currently unknown reason,) sorry it was 2 months later, but just in case no one ever explained it :) or if someone else is confused in the future~🌟
