  • The Michelin CrossClimate2 has historically been strong in the Grand Touring All-Season category, a consistent, high-level tire that continues to impress. An excellent benchmark to test against, our team has seen significant improvement across the board by its rivals.
    Our evaluation used 2022 Subaru BRZ Limited test vehicles fitted with new, full tread depth 225/40R18 tires mounted on 18x8.0 wheels.

    We have Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires on both our Outback and Forester.
    We get 5-7 feet of snow every winter and live 5 miles from town on a private road, that we have to plow and maintain ourselves.
    We drive on the Cross Climate 2 tires year round.
    We’ve found them to be Awesome tires on dry, wet, slushy, snowy, logging and forest roads.
    We recommend them to everyone

    Own these on a GMC Yukon Denali in snowy New Hampshire. Best all season tire I've ever had. Great in all conditions, especially snow. Have about 30,000 miles on 'em with little apparent wear. Was initially concerned that they might be 'noisy' with the aggressive tread pattern. THEY'RE NOT! Don't think they have any significant effect on gas mileage, but if I were concerned with MPG, I wouldn't be driving a 6.2 liter 420 HP GMC Denali, now would I.

      I wonder the same, tried to get these installed on a customer's F150 only to realize there's no tire that meet's the manufacturer's load index, size, and speed rating for it. I do see that they offer Agilis CrossClimate for trucks/suvs though. It will probably just take time for these tires to come to those type of cars.

      They are designed specifically for lighter vehicles than trucks (cars and light SUVs). Truck tires are designed for...........trucks. Truck tires have much thicker sidewalls than car tires so they can carry heavy weight and tow heavy loads. Car tires have thinner sidewalls because they do not carry heavy loads and tow heavy loads.

    Here is a question . If you mount the cross climate on the left side with the arrow tread pointing forward , which looks normal . If you take that same tire and wheel to the right side , the tread is now what looks to be backward ! Does this affect them ? Is there an inside and outside of these tires ? Or just mount them all facing forward and never change sides ?

    • @miguelbaeza65
      @miguelbaeza65 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      They're directional tires. The only way you can rotate them is front to back and vice versa.

    • @miguelbaeza65
      @miguelbaeza65 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It does affect the tire especially when it's rain or snow. You want the direction of the tire to swoop away the rain or snow from the tire in order to prevent hydroplaning

    I have the Cross Climate 2 tires on my Kona N and they’re great tires. Car is still nimble. Grip in the snow is top notch. The FWD Kona drove through 2.5ft of snow like it was nothing. They’re comfortable and don’t make any noise or vibration. I thought they would but don’t. 40psi seems to be the sweet spot for these on the Kona N.
    However… These tires can kill you as their limits can be met very fast. If you’re the type who likes to race other cars on the highway from time to time and weave through traffic at 70 or even 100+ mph these WILL put you into a wall if you aren’t careful . They don’t grip well when there’s horizontal load on them (left to right or right to left). Like dashing across 2-4 lanes and then abruptly holding the car straight, this puts horizontal load on the tires and basically pushes the car left or right. You’ll feel it sloshing around. IT’s controllable but not safe for this type of driving.
    I got these up to 151mph and it quite literally feels like you’re driving on marshmallows. Very dangerous I do not recommend. Get the all season pilot sports instead if you like to push your car to the limits. For you RWD boys, DONT get these tires and think you can drive “ spirited “ in them, you’ll kill yourself.
    I won’t be buying these tires again purely because of my driving style and type of car. I want to make it clear though these tires are AMAZING and honestly are probably the BEST TIRES YOU CAN BUY RIGHT NOW FOR ANY NORMAL PERSON WITH A NORMAL CAR AND NORMAL HABITS. It’s a “do it all tire”. And it goes everything well. Just don’t put these on a performance car. That’s all I’m saying.

      I with you for the most part. The issue I always had with these tires is the tread design. The treads are too close together and they design makes the tire literally “scoop up” any debris (including screws and nails) that might be in the road. Ask me how I know lol. Cool concept by Michelin, but far from the best.

    • @lifeofmike556

      @@derekjlightThis is so true. They pickup damn near everything on the road from rocks, pebbles, gummy worms, gum, screws, screw nuts, gummy twizzlers. I’ve picked all these things mentioned out of the groves on these tires.

      300 to the wheels might be enough for traction control to kick in with Crossclimate2 (depending on how the car is launched). Gearing is a much bigger factor here, ie, whether the car can hit 60 in 2nd gear. That's why 0-60 is not the only thing to consider when measuring a car's acceleration. For what it's worth, if you're looking at a more performance oriented all weather tire you can look at the DWS-06+. I ran those things through everything: rainy canyon runs, track days, and a west texas ice storm. Great tires.
