Femicides: the mechanism | FULL DOCUMENTARY

Out of the 87,000 women killed in 2017, 58% were murdered by an intimate partner or family member. Facing this scourge, a French daily newspaper has created an investigation unit within its editorial team to decrypt the mechanism of femicide, in the hope of bringing it to an end.
How can we effectively prevent these crimes? Are the current systems sufficient? How involved are we? And above all, how can we prevent this pattern from repeating?
Through the testimonies of the victims' relatives, but also of the institutions, this film looks back at five emblematic cases of femicides by retracing the evolution of the love relationship, from the first encounter to the murder. A will: to alert on the collective blindness of our society and to provoke a global awareness. Because femicide is everyone's concern.

That was a great piece. It took away my breath and words while reminding me of how close one can come to such an end.
And it's not enough that family annihilators kill their wives, they also kill families or sometimes just their precious children just to make the point they belong to him. There was such a case here in Australia; a man brained his son with a cricket bat at the park, just to make the point to his former partner that he was reassuming control over the family.

For God's sake, everyone has known for YEARS that when the woman leaves she's in the greatest danger, so it's not enough to lay charges or issue protective orders. Why aren't the mother and children IMMEDIATELY moved to a safe house far away with 24/7 protection? The perpetrator jailed for a lengthy period as well
