I loved the 2000x so much I bought two. I also bought an Eight that I got fully restored. They have a slightly different sound. I was thinking the Eight would blow it away but not the case. I think I slightly prefer the 2000x both in sound and looks.
This entire line, I have the 2000 and 4000... Find a pair of Zu speakers to pair with your 2000, find a 4000 and look out... You will be blown away. The knobs, they look fine on there. The quality of these units and the sound they put out... It trounced all of my modern gear, Denafrips, Parasound, Schiit, etc... I sold it all, including my Venus II 12th and Athena, that I swore I would never sell, along with the KLH Model 5's... Sansui, Zu, WiiM, $1300 all in. The SQ and the phono stage in these units is simply AMAZING, as you stated. A little elbow grease and you have a winner there! On edit: The SQ... The Bass these 2000 and 4000 units put out blew my mind. I have two SVS SB-3000 subs here. I do have them hoked up to my Sansui 4000, along with the Zu's, which I did upgrade to the new DW6 with Supreme package, I sold the Venus... I do not need these subs with this Zu Sansui combo. The midrange of the Sansui is extremely airy and very tube like, especially with vinyl. The phono stage in the 4000 is unlike any modern phono preamp that I own. And the highs, the Sansui/Zu combo just nails it. No fatigue, it just sounds right... Well, that is all I've got... Do not discount what these old school stereo units can do.
The Sounds Quality Is Amazing Very Nice Unit,I’m Really Impressed Woth This Sansui 2000 Thanks for The knowledge of yours about The Sansui’s 2000 & 4000 and they are expensive speacially in eBay.Good Score For the price that I pay and this unit is heavy.Good receiver I would say but I will never ever pay more than a thousand dollars for stereos.
@@VintageStereoCollector I hear you there... Especially after wasting tens of thousands of dollars to wind up with two $200 Sansui units. FB Marketplace, found them both local, the 4000 I bought from the original owner. Sounds incredible. The phono stage is simply delicious on this baby.
Do you use a DAC? I hear Denafrips Ares/Enyo is amongst the very best. I was thinking it would be a good addition to my old Pioneer/Sansui receivers when playing from my phone or laptop.
@@stpierreorama Yes, I use a DAC. The best one I have found for our vintage gear is the PS Audio Stellar Gaincell. That is, at least to my ear. I found the Denafrips DACs (Ares II and Venus II 12th) to be a bit to warm sounding with the Sansui's I own. I also tried Bel Canto and Cambridge with the same result. The PS Audio just nailed it. I am currently using a ToneWinner AD-1PRE+ DAC/Preamp, and that walks all over all of them, even the PS Audio DirectStream MKI, a $6000 DAC. I had that in house too. Myself, I would either go with the ToneWinner or the PS Audio Gaincell. I will not part with either. The ToneWinner in black looks incredible. You can find them at Summit HiFi USA. The Gaincells are on the used market, anything around $800 is a good price.
🎉Congratulations!🎉
You've discovered the "Sansui Sound".
Enjoy!
