Thanks so much for doing a comprehensive measurement and review of the Sansui 7000. I think it would be very interesting to have the same unit refurbished, with replacement Capacitors, some of the old noisy transistors etc... and then another measurement. I did this with mine and the sound is very, very good. I only compared it to Non-refurbished units of this era and for some reason, with my listening setup, it has remained as my main receiver. If you were close, I would definitely give you mine. Have you ever done a review and measurement of before and after?

Funny that you should ask that. I am planning on doing just that, and thought I had a Candidate for it- an HK430 receiver, but it is performing very well and there are too many caps to replace for what I want (there will be a review of it at some point). But it will happen, and I will measure the caps that I pull out. Haven't experienced noisy transistors yet, though I have had some that were temp sensitive.

Thank you for this. Pretty comprehensive review as usual. If I may make a request, if you ever come across a nad 7155, can you give it a look over? You know the nad stories of course, but this particular model is an old fav of mine.
    Cheers
    Alistair

Perfect, professional detail review. I am wondering if you came across model six, seven, eight (and deluxe) and why in same era they manufactured 7000. Which one of these five are the best? Thanks for videos.

I appreciate your taking the time to comment! I am not sure of the other models you mentioned by 6, 7, 8 and deluxe. Sometimes they were marketed for different markets- like European and possibly American military personnel. As far as I can recall, all of the Sansui's have sounded good so it would just be what features you needed to have and the more the merrier for me.

I had my 7000 repaired and upgraded with other amps amongst which was a Trio / Kenwood KR-5200. When I bought the Sansui 7000 had some problems so I can't compare but after refurb the Sansui 7000 seems to be lacking bass. I've put the KR-5200 and the bass is nice and warm but not so much on the 7000 which is lacking.
I've asked my repair man and he said the work he's done was according to the parameters in the schematic and I know for a fact that's the way he works. Does anyone know a specialist around London (preferably west / Heathrow area)?

Thanks for the question. I would think that if you just boosted the bass control and/or applied the loudness control there would be plenty of bass...
