Put the speed at 2x in every single genocide theme that wasn't supposed to sound like this one, and you'll get the pacifist version, but with an empty feel that is accompanied with distorted instruments.
+OJ GOD- Hajime Hinata I thought that the second it started. But once it hits the drop it sounds like someone using the track 'in my way' in combination with it.
The pacifist/neutral song sounds so upbeat. Like, you're going on a journey and no matter what happens, you're determined to reach your destination. But, this just sounds downright depressing. All the monsters are hiding from you and are powerless to stop you. This isn't about reaching the surface and going back home anymore. This is about killing all those monsters just because you can and you're bored.
To me killing them all was to free them by letting chara destroy it all and never touching the game again thus freeing everyone I stopped their suffering even if I did true pacifist the game is still there they aren't free
You know the really funny thing? Noone in this game is truly psychotic. Not Chara, and not Flowey, and not even You. We all (this definitely includes Chara) know that everyone killed is going to come back to life. For us, its because its the game and we know how Save Files works, and for Chara its because s/he knows that time is going to be reversed. We all kill because...there's nothing else to do. We've saved them and felt good, now what would happen if they die? This style of thinking, as weird as it sounds, is completely normal.
Actually I'm not sure Chara remember a true reset. They just follow your steps, and if you teach them that killing is necessary and that the world is actually "kill or be killed", they will be corrupted, and they will find fun in killing people. "You just remebered something funny"
+Magic Sounds like you've taken the Red Pill. You are beginning to realise the Truth: THERE IS NO SPOON! Sans understood it long ago, hence why he was apathetic towards everything in the game (even during Megalovania battle).
Bitches, I killed everyone because I wanted to listen to Megalovania, don't make excuses for "it's okay and normal doing genocide because game", I did it for the music and challenge
I love the Pacifist/Neutral version of this song, so I knew right away that I was going to love the Genocide version as well. Oh man, I love the darker undertones that were drawn out. It turns a very happy-go-lucky song into, well, this.
Now that the track is slowed down, I can identify the similarities it shares with the track "waterfall." I learn new things about the soundtrack everyday :| Really, the entire soundtrack is just a couple of songs remixed over and over.
What i find really smart is how all the characters that are related share themes, most of sans' themes have a bit of papyrus' themes in them, toriel and asgore share themes.. Idk i just find it so cute and cool
It's a leitmotif :P Ruins -> Waterfall -> Quiet Water -> NGAHH -> Spear of Justice -> Battle Against a True Hero -> But The Earth Refused to Die - Bring It In Guys! -> An Ending -> Respite Now let's all agree that there are a lot of leitmotifs
Really feel like Another Medium's 50% speed captivates the entirety of the game at that point : You just killed Undyne, you read that you gotta kill 40 whole monsters in this level of the game ; you know at this point going back would be stupid cause you just beat your first challenge... so stomping all over that triumph at this point would just mean you wasted your time grinding and fighting Undyne for nothing. So this song accompanies you in your final slaughter.
I feel like if there was and actual battle with Alphys, she'd be able to hold her ground for a while, but when she starts to get tired from attacking and at low hp, the monsters she evacuated start jumping in to take hits for her, and that buys her time to make a final stand and try to defeat you. (Like a sudden barrage of attacks, but they're somewhat difficult to dodge.)
After you sell your SOUL to Chara, they kill the entire game, killing the world, and everything that ever existed. When you load the game you are presented with 10 minutes of the void and wind noises (somehow). After 10 minutes, Chara remarks how you’re waiting for something to happen but you’ve killed everything. There’s nothing left. You monster.
Most of the Genocide OST is basically normal music but slowed down by either x0.5 speed or slowed by x1 speed. For example: if you put the Playback speed to x2, it’s normal but lower pitched.
I really love both versions of Another Medium, they're my favorites out of the whole soundtrack... But I always want to cry while listening to them, especially this one. I don't know... It's hard to explain, but it's songs like these that remind me of my mortality. It makes me wish I could live forever, just so I can listen to more beautiful songs like this.
I love how Toby Fox made songs deeper, showing how sad was your behaviour. I love that this game allows you to choose being a murderer, but really shows a deep message about peace and love to the others. This is one of the most reasons this game is one of my favourite games... And a piece of art.
10 UNDERTALE Genocide differences: 1.)The most of the puzzles are solved by Flowey 2.)Some monsters are dissapeared, including Shopkeepers. 3.)Alphys is gone, so you can't use yellow soul or phone dimensional box. 4.)New battles with Undyne the Undying, Monster Kid, Mettaton NEO and Sans are available. 5.)New weapons as Real Knife and The Locket are available in New Home. 6.)Floor 2 in Hotland is closed so the Apron and the Burnt Pan cannot be obtained. 7.)Music is slowed down. 8.)You kill all monsters at once except Undyne and Sans. 9.)Kill counter appears in Stats after Ruins. 10.)Royal Guards appear even earlier.
That bridge near the entrance to Mettaton has the highest spawn rate, and if you have more than 10 monsters remaining you cannot cross it and cross it back without having at least one encounter.
When i saw the puzzles all solved in this location... I wondered why? One could argue that alphys and every other monster that you haven't killed, solved them... but I believe that the genocide route is more of a play on games nowadays, the tutorial (toriel) helping you... then you just beat (kill) it and never return... anyone and anything that stands in your way will be destroyed, friendly or not (papyrus and undyne) and puzzles don't matter, the boss fight is pathetic, you destroy all story and characters... just because you can. At the end... you get a choice, kill the world or spare it, this is a play on you beating the game... and never returning, i mean, you killed everything why would you want to go back? The only difference between the genocide route and other games... is that undertale makes you feel like crap for killing.
Yeah, it was actually Alphys/Mettaton who reactivated the puzzles so Alphys could gain your affection. Since that is no longer... desired, theres no need to use dem puzzles.
Flowey is the one solving the puzzles. In Snowdin (the region) you can find vines having depressed that one button that normally you have to uncover the map to find. And many other places have vines.
All these years later, this song is still my #1 depression song. I wonder if it’ll ever not be. It’s crazy, whenever I reach a rock bottom in my life, I come back, and hopefully, leave feeling more determined than ever.
People focus on the true evil of yourself in the genocide run, but people forget the war of humans and monsters during it. Humans hated monsters, and we can think of it like a human sent down there to get rid of them for good.
this has the surreal vibe akin to those kinds of dreams/nightmares where you wake up and everything seems normal at first but as you get up you realize theres something off about your surroundings, like the people in the city are gone or something
I think that's a sign that you have a big heart, you care about all these characters despite being fictional. The choice to not do a genocide run is very difficult for some, but as for me, I'd never want to kill a single monster. I don't care what Flowey thinks of me. A pacifist I am and till the end, and although I won't reply Undertale, Mainly due to the meta 4th wall breaks, I just don't want these characters to suffer whatsoever, god forbid it be by my hands.
+Alphipie i´m in!!! love it! i strangely enjoy CORE and bonetrousle on genocide too.... even though i´ve never played the genocide run and never will..
The first minute or so of this song really hits different when you’re walking around the hotlands, going past all the deactivated puzzles and inactive machinery, without a single living thing in sight. It’s like a constant reminder of all the fun that could’ve been had if you just hadn’t gone down this path. Instead now there’s nothing but a desolate wasteland where all these things used to be.
**You can't turn back now. 40 left...* You murded her. You slayed the brother. You also slayed the gaurdian. Can't really turn back now...DETERMINATION
Uhh, let’s just do this real quick... *turns playback speed to x2* there we go! In all seriousness, this has got to be my favorite genocide songs in the game, and in the whole game period.
this song is really incredible,it says so many things, to me,it sounds like the theme that would play on an old battle ground with half buried weird destroyed machine , dead body and random little hill of mud caused by shell explosion, a bit like hotland is the last area where frisk hunt monsters.
I love how the normal version is so upbeat, but when it's slowed down it makes you want to curl into a ball and decay away, when it's sped up it makes you want to dance, any way you put it, this song is still amazing.
yknow if you think about it. Genocide is probably the most hopeful “neutral” ending. In an aborted a normal aborted Genocide, Sans’s phone call will be Alphys and how she became the ruler. she, other than Asgore or Toriel, is probably the best fit for a leader. she’s not as hotheaded and anger driven as Undyne, nor as clueless and naive as Papyrus. Since the human souls do not get shown or used in Genocide, all 6 are where they normally are. I like to think after you kill Flowey, Chara ends the world for the player, but the timeline itself is isolated and continues. maybe she’d develop some sort of synthetic Determination through the amalgamates and free the monsters that way. who knows…. Nobody’ll probably see this, but it’s a neat thought.
oof, yeah. the neutral endings in this game have always been my favorite. this is a really interesting take on what could happen outside of the player's influence. this ending would probably lead alphys onto becoming the ruler instead of committing suicide after undyne's death- she has to be the hero now, doesn't she? even mettaton states that alphys really is the only person who didn't attempt to fight the player cause she knew she would lose. it's odd, though, to think that sans would be dead- maybe the simplest reason that a genocide run couldn't end with a phone call is that sans was the only one who ever wanted to talk to you again. that makes chara's actions more heroic than ever, though. stopping the player at the very end to save the rest of the monsters they loved and the humans they hated in equal measure, since mettaton implies that genocide doesn't just end at the barrier. super interesting concept, thank you for commenting this.
@@cecarnation Sans being dead does change a whole lot from the Aborted Genocide Alphys ending as well. In that ending, Sans and Alphys work together and Alphys enjoys having Sans for support. But in this supposed ending, the closest support she would have would probably be Bratty and Catty, and below that everyone else. I think this would probably effect the way she would rule.
Another Medium in the Genocide route truly encapsulates the feeling of pure hopelessness and despair. By this point, the player is near the end of the game, which means there's no reason to waste all the effort and abort the genocide run. The game realises this, and the music seems to stop caring about persuading you. It sounds almost defeated in a way, like it's mourning the loss of all the innocent lives lost by your hands. but it still seems to hold a small piece of desperation as it almost feels like it's crying, pleading for you to stop, knowing you won't listen. but it tries nontheless. It really produces a feeling of utter dread, knowing this is the underground's final moments.
I like how Alphys evacuates everyone then 40 mfs are just like “nah we can take the human. How bad could they be?”
It’s cause not everyone could get out in time. Not because they felt like they could defeat the human
Seems like what real life humans would do, ngl.

Idk, this sounds upbeat too! Though to be fair, the player just killed everyone soooo

Does the game really says that at a save point?

Sounds like you've taken the Red Pill. You are beginning to realise the Truth: THERE IS NO SPOON! Sans understood it long ago, hence why he was apathetic towards everything in the game (even during Megalovania battle).

Really, the entire soundtrack is just a couple of songs remixed over and over.
What i find really smart is how all the characters that are related share themes, most of sans' themes have a bit of papyrus' themes in them, toriel and asgore share themes.. Idk i just find it so cute and cool
Yeah, all these leitmotifs being used over and over are actually being used in a really clever way to me though.
It's a leitmotif :P

I feel like if there was and actual battle with Alphys, she'd be able to hold her ground for a while, but when she starts to get tired from attacking and at low hp, the monsters she evacuated start jumping in to take hits for her, and that buys her time to make a final stand and try to defeat you.
10 UNDERTALE Genocide differences:
1.)The most of the puzzles are solved by Flowey
2.)Some monsters are dissapeared, including Shopkeepers.
In water fall, the music is so slow down that you can't hear the original one
The burnt pan is in level 1 right outside the bottom right corner of the Magma chamber save point so you can still get it

This one is alright in any version.
I don't know if it's just me, but it definitely has a very _Metroid Prime_-esque feel to it, especially toward the beginning.
+no thank you Truuuuu
Alphys forgot to reactivate the puzzles while she evacuated everyone.I mean, you only a few room away form her when she started to save everyone.
This is the best non-mainstream song in the game. It even sounds tragic when slowed down.
All these years later, this song is still my #1 depression song. I wonder if it’ll ever not be. It’s crazy, whenever I reach a rock bottom in my life, I come back, and hopefully, leave feeling more determined than ever.

this will forever be my favorite genocide ost.
I actually love what this does to the intro, what was originally more of a melody of curiosity is now echoing and haunting.
I know, it’s amazing
People focus on the true evil of yourself in the genocide run, but people forget the war of humans and monsters during it. Humans hated monsters, and we can think of it like a human sent down there to get rid of them for good.
That actually kinda works
"40 left"
Damn, you aren't even filled with anything anymore, just pure hatred
this has the surreal vibe akin to those kinds of dreams/nightmares where you wake up and everything seems normal at first but as you get up you realize theres something off about your surroundings, like the people in the city are gone or something
I don't think I could finish a genocide run with these songs... I couldn't even get past a few seconds into this video. Creepy
Waterfall's soundtrack was my biggest run ender in all my attempts
I think that's a sign that you have a big heart, you care about all these characters despite being fictional. The choice to not do a genocide run is very difficult for some, but as for me, I'd never want to kill a single monster. I don't care what Flowey thinks of me. A pacifist I am and till the end, and although I won't reply Undertale, Mainly due to the meta 4th wall breaks, I just don't want these characters to suffer whatsoever, god forbid it be by my hands.

This song just says: You've killed Undyne, it's gonna get serious from here. This is the end.
am i the only one who finds this to be utterly calming and just a really nice low energy vibe?
The first minute or so of this song really hits different when you’re walking around the hotlands, going past all the deactivated puzzles and inactive machinery, without a single living thing in sight. It’s like a constant reminder of all the fun that could’ve been had if you just hadn’t gone down this path. Instead now there’s nothing but a desolate wasteland where all these things used to be.
This is really good studying background music!
B-but I didn't get to-

Can't really turn back now...DETERMINATION
Uhh, let’s just do this real quick... *turns playback speed to x2* there we go!
In all seriousness, this has got to be my favorite genocide songs in the game, and in the whole game period.
this song is really incredible,it says so many things, to me,it sounds like the theme that would play on an old battle ground with half buried weird destroyed machine , dead body and random little hill of mud caused by shell explosion, a bit like hotland is the last area where frisk hunt monsters.
This kinda sounds like a large machine being put under intense stress.
Which, in a way, is true.
*Determination.
I don't know, but for me it's very relaxing.
Still playing. Not sure what now is but one day we shall go back to play this. Never will I forget. Determination and chill
I love how the normal version is so upbeat, but when it's slowed down it makes you want to curl into a ball and decay away, when it's sped up it makes you want to dance, any way you put it, this song is still amazing.
Instead of being somber and dark, the song just took an intense take.
yknow if you think about it.
I think this would probably effect the way she would rule.
huh, dunno why but this gives me some serious Portal vibes...
Somehow this soundtrack matches well with Lycoris when they do their mission.
This sounds tranquil and mysterious, yet depressed at the same time.
It kinda sounds cool actually.
