I was in 10th when my earlier byjus course had ended. They came to my house even though I already said no on the call. They said they just wanted to talk to my parents and started asking me some oral questions and some on the tablet in which I couldn't score well. My parents were constantly looking at me and this made me nervous and I messed up almost every question. I was embarrassed a lot. This "counseling session" did not motivate me to study but rather broke my self confidence and I was ridiculed for my way of studying. Still I managed to get 93% in 10th by studying everything on my own and convienced my parents about not purchasing these costly courses again.

I experienced the same thing, and it's not only byjus but TOPPR PLUS as well, that person came when I asked him not to because we were having a big meeting at home for education of backward class people. He came and asked me questions I could not answer it and then he embarrassed me in front of all the guest and one of the guests advised my father to take it, again because of the insecurities. whatever i regretted it because the mentor literally tortured me because i did not use it, I was sick man I had a surgery, and then the mentor blocked me and my mom scolded me thinking she was my teacher but then I EXPLAINED her that she was just a person asking me to study and update her what i did. just to keep a track and then i was clustered it missed classes and boring teachers who can't explain things properly. believe me my school teacher is better, they kept me out of the group of student in my batch and despite asking them again and again, he did not take me in the group where they shared notes. I still have it. and the reason my parents bought it for me because he claimed to solve my doubts 24*7 and it was true but recently i found the tutor who solves the doubts takes forever to reply or even days that session gets expired. total waste its not enough the person from toppr kept threatening my father that if he did not pay they would send police. we were struggling financially during pandemic could not even eat properly but had to pay them. the sales man ran away , all the good teachers no where to be found, those iitian and iim doubt solvers gone and i have 80+k worth useless tablet left that hardly works. I regretted only two things in life till now.
      1. not meeting my kindergarten teacher a night before like my classmates and she died the next day.
      2.getting toppr plus

Happened with me last year after I passed 10th.. A consultant came to my house even after I declined to take course for 11th JEE. They somehow got my father's number and reached my home and started to ask me some questions..
I answered some of them then He said now solve these questions pointing some JEE adv PYQs which I obviously couldn't... I was embarassed at that moment..
He tried everything to sell his course but Thanks to my father who said "Chay khatam karke nikal jaiye aapse padhne ka mood nhi hai mere bete ka" 😂
And I was like Thank god finally... 😌
Now I'm doing my 11th with 4000 rupee course and I'm fully satisfied with it..

I was a BDA in BYJUS, everything is 1000% correct.
Not a single word is incorrect. I planned to stay in the company for a year and then go to the USA for my further education. But I left the company approximately 5 months after I figured out the real agenda of the company. Of course, I figured out the same during my training period and therefore I have never done any unethical sales .... If I went to see a lower middle class parents they I always suggested that they study from TH-cam. That's more than enough.

Last year when I was in 6th a Byjus employee came to our school and handed us a worksheet of about 50 mcqs. The questions were given from all subjects. Out of the fifty questions I was doubtful of 99% of my answers because they were so hard and we hadn't been taught those. The math mcqs were not even of 6th standard. The test made me very unconfident of my self and I thought my friends were doing better than me. But after the test my topper friends told me that the questions are not of our standard. She said that her brother who is currently in class 8 has those topics. I told my mom about the test when I got home. She never liked Byjus and said that they just want to lure us to buy their courses. After the results came the BYJUS employee called my mother and said I scored below 50 % and were convincing my mother to buy the course. But she was smart and she found it odd because I always get above 80% so she said no. Thank god she did that.

The work culture was super toxic and they ask us to make sales unethically targeting daily wage earners and forcing them to buy the package. Dear Bhayya, nobody is 100% perfect in this world. Everything has both some positive and some negative sides (just like two sides of a coin). Think of positive sides also (while you have mentioned negative sides in this video) - (i) many persons are still getting employment/jobs in Byju's, earning money, supporting family/children, sending to schools,.... (ii) many persons earning from supplying study materials to Byju's, and so on. I am neither supporting Byju's nor against it. My child also started learning from Byju's from class 9. I must say that study materials (both hard copy and soft copy in Tablets) are excellent. It is worth paying for a Tablet and study materials along with online classes to clear doubts. My child learnt smoothly from these study materials. May be someone should think of making another video, highlighting their positive points. In the meantime, enjoy my bathrooms.......

I agree with u, back in class 9 they were able to convince my parents to buy Byjus course for classes 9th,10th,11th and 12th. I was a very indecisive child and had difficult time saying no to things. So I took up the course. Over 75,000 rupees was wasted. I'm just a girl from middle class family and that 75,000 really meant a lot to us. I still blame myself to this day because I did this to my parents and made them pay so much believing it would help me. I was an ICSE student and all the cirriculum was overteaching and mostly CBSC back then (2018). I got so bad in math and science that I did not take them in 11th and 12th, I wish nothing but bankruptcy over this company, it sure knows how to break dreams more than making one. Now I'm in college studying animation and vfx gotta make the most of what I have and give back my parents the good time and life they deserve.

As a parent I don't hesitate to say that until we stop putting pressure on our kids to score 100s, 95s.... we will continue to feed people and companies like this. Every child is unique, we just have to recognize that fact and support them but not put our own children down like this. The day, we as parents, stop losing sleep over marks, that day our children will flourish naturally, we will stop feeding these kind of fraud companies and also the education business in the form of hi fi schools and colleges.

3:52 to 4:18, I am a 15 year old student, and the process mentioned here by you is totally identical to what I had experienced, that too twice. My parents fell in these traps twice, with me disagreeing both times. But in May 2022, my parents ended up making a decision to test the 15 days free trial. During those salesmen take our interviews, they intentionally make us feel behind other students or inferior to them. They ask us those questions which are of higher classes and our parents, eventually fall in those traps! If you try to disagree to buy or opt for their device or whatever, they will humiliate you. Just like what happened with me, after doing that 15 days trail, when we were trying to return that tab, we faced much humiliation from the salesman. He constantly kept calling us and moreoever forcing us to continue that. After a humiliation of I guess 20-25 days, we managed somehow to return that.

2020 ,I was studying in class 10 then. The lockdown was going on. My father came and said there would be a free counseling from byzus. When the Counselor came to know that I was a neet aspirant, he insisted on getting admission in byzus course of 85 thousands! My Dad said to give us a little time to think. But they did not even give us one day! The counselor said that the scholarship was available until that day other wise we had to pay 1.5 lakh for the course. Then I got admission in the course of neet 2023.(85 k in EMI process) This course is totally a scam and a waste of money because I am not satisfied with the recorded classes . This year I have passed higher secondary .The free classes on TH-cam have helped me a lot for preparing HS as well as neet.

The teaching quality was the worst, teachers were not well educated, they couldn't even speak English properly. After all this, i decieded not to study from this institute, I told everything to my parents, there was a return policy in the company, we went to the nearest brancha and enquired about the refund, they started to vonfuse us by saying go here, go there, they were just wasting our time, after calling them for so many times and after infinite number of struggles, i got around 85k back, I'm glad i got this amount at least 😭😭, i would never ever recommend byjus to any of my junior, Boycott Byjus 😭😭

As my marks were not soo good my parents decided to try it and they did exactly what u said.. they came to my place and asked me those questions which were from class 9-10 and completely out of my syllabus. And then said that I'm completely weak in studies this will affect my future even asked me dumb question that why do we use ball pen in exams like JEET & NEET like wtf is wrong with you.. how the tf will 8th std kid know about this! And the course and study material is complete shit. It is soo complicated and uncleared, one can understand better from TH-cam then Byju's. Also, parents can be just plain lazy. Whether they can afford the courses is another pressing matter.
A lack of willingness to try and work with the child to resolve the issue or communicate openly about poor study habits, etc is a major contributor.
India and some developing Asian countries don't have the best track record in this aspect, irrespective of socio-economic class.

This same thing happened to my class X students also...a Byju's guy came to their house..asked them questions of Class XI chemistry...offered their parents a tablet ..and the very next day those students came to me ..told me the whole story...then I called their parents..first I tried to be humble and convinced them that this is all crap..these scammers are all over the country.. selling expensive courses to middle class people who can't even afford..then I asked them.."How can a guy come to your house, tells your child he is not capable enough within 30 minutes and you would agree just because he is professional and using jargons in front of you?? Don't you know your child enough?"
This is just one story...a student of mine in class 12th this year made the same mistake...poor kid
Even teachers like me have to face such problems..
There are many stories but one conclusion - BYJUs is a CRAP!!

    • @pronoydutta614
      @pronoydutta614 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

That's part of the issue. Parents aren't always the most astute people when it comes to being responsible for their child. They don't have to sit with a kid extensively to help them study, but they have to understand who their children are and where the issue's originating. I don't like to blame parents, since everyone doesn't have the time or ability to assess situations; but they'd know better if they took their child more seriously.

When i checked my results in the app, i had scored 40%. My parents recieved a call from byjus saying they wanted to do a counselling session and idk why my mom agreed. A byjus employer came to my house and did a "counselling session". They asked some ridiculous questions in their tab and i didnt score well because i was nervous. Some questions were even out of syllabus. My parents looked very disappointed in me and i felt the anticipation rising within me. The employers then asked us about our study routine and said it isnt profesional. he then offered my parents the course and said it will cost almost 1.5 lakh. Thank god my parents were smart and they rejected the offer. I came 3rd in my class. It was a pretty weirdconselling session. I felt demotivated, and he even took 2 hours to ask stupid questions.

My friends joined. And were pretty happy till the training period got over. At this time the 10L package became 7L+3L and the "business development" job became "tele calling" .

So I clearly mentioned this that we can't afford to pay 5600 in every month but later on they said once u buy this sell we will extend ur EMI duration from 12 to 24 months.
I never knew that they are lying to me. I paid 8k as down payment and 72k were pending that I have to pay via EMI I bought that course in the month of March and course was about to start from June. And u know what?? In the month of June I'm getting msg that I have to pay 5600 Rs. I tried to connect that salesman but he wasn't responding later on I came.to know that he left the job then I try to connect other person but no one listened me... Here my niece were also not able to attend her class...
After so many tries finally one person I got and he said that u pay this month EMI, we will extend ur duration, that was also a fake promise. But believing on him I paid 5600 Rs but nothing happened... neither my EMI duration extended nor my niece attended the course not even a single day lecture she attended. Couldn't even got the study material in the form of books. I paid 13000 without getting anything. Ultimately I sent the mail to cancel the course but they say that u can't cancel it, u have to say within 15 days of buying course but I bought thatin the month of March and it started in the month of June, without using how would we know that the course is faulty??
They only trapped us. We can't forget this tragedy. This byjus is bogus institution that must be exposed and shut down. I'll pray for that..May this Company shut down

I once had taken Vedantu subscription, when I did the trial they asked me questions like 12 standards when I was in 6th and then they made my parents concerned that they should take the subscription we only took for 8 months and nothing changed my result because in the classes there only were mcq questions and it wasn't that hard at all like in the trial. These big companies are just scamming. If a student has the passion to learn something he can learn from where ever he wants

Furthermore the concepts remain unclear for me
Now,I am in 10th grade.. I'll suggest to better self study..And TH-cam is the best platform where you can clear all your doubts and Eventually this had helped me more than what byjus did in the past 4-5 years...

Its not easy even for an adult to learn coding in such a short duration, let alone a kid of that age. I have a degree in CS, and yet it took me a good 6 months to get my bearings right in real life. While they were asking me questions my parents were also present their i was really nervous and i lost my confidence their itself by this they took opportunity and told my parents that i am week . a 25yo neet aspirant here, honestly the scam going around competitive exams is scary. I don't fall for them as I am starting to hit an age where I analysis everything I get into - from the ingredients in the shampoo I use to courses I take. I don't fall for them. But the students, their parents are not to blamed at all. 16-21yo kids, their parents - most of them are a part of very toxic race. Quora even got questions like ' my child is in 7th grade, how do I prepare them for iit ?' - bruh !. It's all these coaching industries and their toxic marketing strategies that's dragging down the quality of life of these families , putting them through loans and EMIs. Education from learning has turn into a fierce competition and business. And business is all about profit and loss.
I remember watching it in a video in TH-cam which was exposing Kota, one of the director said - ' we are trying to extract the butter from milk. Rest is garbage ' - imagine you keep advertising to parents that if they enroll their child in your institute , they will crack neet or JEE but then the horror unfolds - most of it which only the child faces. Creating special batch after 4-5 units tests - hence, playing with self esteem with the other kids - fixing it in their mind see these students are better than you, messing up their potential by teaching them unnecessary stuffs just to show you cover out of NCERT and most importantly, showing the parents how they got five thousands students to a mbbs or iit seat but not showing them those 5000 was out of lakhs of students. They keep using their 1% success to hide the 99% failure. The marketing strategy that unfold after results of jee and neet using the toppers is so funny and scary to me. Idc about this tbh, what I actually care about is the mental health of the students which is being played with 24*7 by the coaching business. The government keeps boasting about India being youth power, but they are not looking at one of sharpest dragger that's hanging over the youth - mental health. And to pull out this dragger , they need to address the education system and coaching business in a very serious and thorough way.
I am appearing in neet at twenty five because I am in love with medical science , I want to LEARN it. I want my life to revolve around it - studying and healing human body. But I can't say the same for 18 lakhs candidates of neet. Who is at fault ? The kids ? No. The ones who looks down on the 17,10,000 students who didn't get the MBBS seats. And the coaching business use the success of top 5k students to play with these 17 lacs+. Competition has always been healthy, but they are using the failure of students to turn them over competitive. This is where it backfires. Sometimes I really want to sit down with these kids and tell them - it's okay, they can breathe but ik they won't listen to me because they are in a race. And no one likes to fall behind in the race. I did and I think that's the best thing which has happened to me but the 18-21yo overachiever me hated it back in past. I don't like the kids and their learning being used to earn money turning all of it to toxic. I hate it, I so freaking hate it.

But they became more focused on branding and aggressive marketing strategies instead ... Sad to See them going down this path as they had potential when it began...
P.S : Maybe their base price of courses were too costly (but maybe they wanted enough returns for the amount they spent to create the courses )

Once brother of my roommate came to our room for a month of training as BDA in Byju's. Some days he used to got to office but some days he used to work from home. Once I had listerned his conversations with students and their parents.
He asked a question about materials. He has given options. 1.Transparent, 2.Transent, 3.Opaque. The child answered it wrong.I know the answer, it is Translucent. But child didn't answered it. I am thinking why he has spelled correct option differently. After conversation had completed, I asked him why he spelled second option wrong, then he said that if I say correct spelling child can answer it. So I spelled wrong to confuse child.
Imagine when you are with your parents and some random person asking questions, how tense it would be, these people are using these tense situations for their course selling.
The parents of that conversation has payed money and buyed Byju's course with cost of 45,000 rupees. He is saying that he will get 10,000 rupees for selling a course.
I have seen him selling courses by showing that children are poor in studies in front of parents and showing big dreams to parents.
Once he sold course to a poor family, they are sending child to government school, he proven that child is very poor and sold course for 38,000 rupees. That parents asked 1 week time to pay that money.
That time i came to know how Byju's works. I lost positive opinion on Byju's.

Sadly I fell into this sinkhole in my 8th standard. I'm in a middle class family and one day my father told me those "guidance counselors" will be coming to my house and they made me do that 50 questions in 10 minutes mcqs on their tablet and I got the score below 60% most of those questions were meant for 10th grade level and they made an 8th grader solve them. They told the "benefits" of buying the courses and my father rejected them and they went away. Next week later a call came from my mother's phone and it was byjus they highlighted all the "insecurities" and forced my father to buy the course for my 8th, 9th and 10th worth 50K. I got their products but it was the worst quality ever, the battery would drain from 100% to 0% within an hour, no memory space in that tablet and zero improvement on my studies. Yes I did watch those videos but in all honesty it felt like they created their own syllabus instead of following the ICSE updated syllabus really outdated and overall rly bad. I didn't use byjus for my 9th and 10th. I passed from 10th and currently in 11th and TO THIS DAY I still get calls from them and they even have the audacity to ask why I'm not using the "lessons provided" and even asked which institute I have joined for my PUC! Very disappointing 😕

In my opinion parents ko apne baccho ko sabse pehle studies ke sath sath sports me enroll karwana chaiyee because physical activities helps to boost brain, builds a base for self esteem , confidence and team work, coordination and belief. The problem is koi bhi bacha atleast for now time sabke pass tablets, smartphones easily accessible hain aur screen se bahar duniya dekh hi nhi rhe hai the effect is their brain gets simulated in that way and they only get addictive to digital media, parents need to manage this issuewith screen time kitna dena hai aur dena hai bhi yah nhi because in early age till 7-8 years its better to invest in outdoor activities, social and impart them studies even if using digital media in a regulated manner!! Personally speaking as an observation ditial access and too much screen time affects behavior and lessen their confidence, self esteem or esliye ed-tech eska fayeda tha rhey hai

I tried Byjus in my drop year, and I'm glad i came out of it on time. The first meeting was similar they gave ne a test to solve and I scored average and even identified an error in one question, but still since their content felt good to me we agreed to buy it. After some time i realized that it all felt like a recording without any personal touch the question solving session wasn't proper and it was far away from JEE level preparation. I asked my mentor on call that I'm not getting any proper doubt clearing session so she replied their videos are enough and you shouldn't be having any doubt otherwise you haven't watched the videos properly. At that time I decided not to continue the course and my parents were supportive so they agreed too, i called the mentor or customer service they tried to convince me not to do it but we cancelled it anyhow and luckily i got the money. After that i joined an offline growing local coaching and since they wanted to grow from results not by just gimmicks so they gave literally every ounce of their energy. You can imagine it by knowing that the owner of that coaching used to take 2-3 hours of extra classes. And i scored decent and got into an NIT.

Then instead of motivating me they destroyed my self confidence as much they can. I still said no but my parents were so insecure that they purchased that course which worth 1.5lakh . They said that this course will provide me 2YEARS OF LIVE CLASSES but after a year my classes stopped and they said the live course was only for 1 year for 2nd year I will have videos only . Isn't it FRAUD . I wish to report but we don't have proper evidences .

Now cleverly using the WFH option they said employees will fall under inside sales package which is 5.5 lpa. and actual promised salary would be come in force once the covid situation is settled down.
