Even Aerith tries to understand where Sephiroth is coming from. They were both held captive by Shinra as children. They felt isolated from others because they were special. But luckily, Aerith had the love and support she needed from both her biological mother and adoptive mother. Sephiroth had no mother figure in his entire life, which meant that he felt unloved and unsupported. 😢
They basically just made Cloud crazier.
Considering what might happen in the beginning of the next game, it's kind of expected.

oh boy, Part 3 will focus really in the 5 Stages of Grief for Cloud where he has to overcome that tragedy and accept Aerith is gone for good to defeat Sephiroth once and for all, thus it may be something closer to his arc from Advent Children, heck, I can say her final spell against Meteor at the end of it will be the most significant way for him to finally see that her death wasn't for nothing
also, Square Enix, you're diabolical, you made us look that Cloud would save her for good, only to remind us this is nothing but a Canon Event for Part 3 to exist

So somehow she survived in some form that is only seen by him. Hopefully they come up with some logical explanation in part 3.

The Flowers in the church is blooming when Zack waking up, that s definitely means that comatose aerith already woke up, seems like Zack and Aerith will interacting and Possibly fighting together in part 3 and somehow helping cloud defeat sephiroth.

zack part is to remove jenova cells from cloud so he can save aerith without seph influence in the doomed world that acepted its fate.
The multiverse theory is pretty much confirmed - Sephy himself does that, explaining, how the defeat of the Arbiter of Fate allowed to spawn new realities.
Zack should not be written down as being dead for sure. He is active, and will seek ways to "unpart" the realities.
My personal impression is that it's possible, that Cloud was genuinely able to fully block Sephiroth's strike (he sees the attack coming, unlike the OG), but the corrupted whispers (notice, how they coalesce around Sephy's sword, and how sword slightly changes it position) "retconned" this, moving everyone to the original outcome.
Cloud being in denial can explain SOME interactions with Aerith after her death, but not all of them. Sephiroth acknowleges her presence (and Zack's as well). Cloud sees Aerith comforting Red XIII, and Red immediately feels her presence. Cloud sees the tear in the sky - no particular reason to see it just because Aerith died, but can signify that he indeed exists within two realities somehow. His denial does not keep Aerith in the party, they actually part ways, and the choice of words is interesting. She does not disappear, when camera perspective is changed to her. Her presence in the field seems to be independent of Cloud's mind being present.
All speculations about what we see should naturally be made with caution, and it's not entirely impossible, that even if we are right now, the devs won't change their vision as they develop the third part.
PS. Aerith gave me that: "If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine" vibe.
I also really got the vibe that there’s another reality split going on. Like Sephiroth did just say “when fate is challenged new worlds are born,” so with all the flashing between the position of the sword, Aerith’s body being bloody then not bloody, Cloud switching between being silent and then saying something, it feels like we were seeing both the original Aerith’s death scene spliced together with a scene where she lived. And it’s like everyone else is in the reality where she died, but Cloud is somehow stuck in between two realities?
Yeah, I was relieved that Cloud finally decided to block off Sephiroth’s attack, only to see Aerith still died regardless

Like the original, like the remake. Aerith dies AGAIN but she is on par with Sephiroth,like showing his/her manifestation in front of people like Cloud or Rufus for example.
I honestly don't know why anyone expected a different end. The compilation made it excessively clear that she needed to die in order to stop Sephiroth. Ironically though by selfishly wanting to spend more time with Cloud she wound up hurting him even more.

Adding the multiple timelines/worlds allows the devs to find a way to bring Aerith to life (she's not dead in Zack's world) while honoring her fate in the OG by having 'our' Aerith in the new series die. Perhaps her soul will fill the hollow body left in Zack's world? Or she will simply wake up in the other world as she is there. However way it may happen-- Cloud and Aerith will reunite in the final game. And this time, I pray for their happy ending.

I like how this time round Ckoud actually attempts to block Sephiroth instead of standing there and watch him kill Aerith like in the OG.
But canon-event, Aerith still dies even after he successfully blocks off Sephiroth
I think the blocking only happened in his mind. If you notice, the screen constantly shifts between clean and bloody versions of Aerith. Same with Sephiroth's sword.
Cloud sees the clean one, but everyone else sees the blood on him and Aerith. It's all part of Sephiroth's illusions to make Cloud further doubt everything and everyone around him.
@@MrReubenTishkoff I don’t think it’s Sephiroth’s illusions per se. Each time he comes to mess Cloud up, the events happening around them are still very real. Whatever Cloud did under Sephiroth’s influence or not, the actions did happen, like when he was temporarily brainwashed to believe Tifa was a disguised Jenova and he did hit her into the mako spring.
I think this is more a case of the whispers’ intervention. Cloud may have successfully blocked of Sephiroth, but the Whispers’ corrected that event, making it such that Aerith did remain stabbed.
Can't believe they did the thing again where Jenova's music starts kinda meh but gradually becomes a banger throughout the fight.

It makes sense. Marlene explains everything in the other timeline that Cloud couldnt save her. Aerith will wake up in the other timeline. The real Cloud is sleeping in the alternate timeline and he will wake up once Tifa helps him find himself in the lifestream. More than likely when the real Cloud wakes up, Aerith will send him back to the og timeline...I could be wrong.

Unlike some other people I like the changes. Aerith dying with Cloud seeing her reminds me of grieving and how Death for the remaining people is about accepting and acknowledging the passing of a beloved one. Cloud who himself has his share of problems falls into a state of denial, seeing her. There is a reason why people in grief often talk about how it feels like the person is still alive and could almost expect them to show up again or, in severe cases, completely ignore and deny the fact that the person died. Our brains can be very creative about these things.

I prefer Aerith's death in the OG. It's more impactful despite being a low polygon model with boxy hands, legs and body, two dots for eyes, no mouth and unrealistic hair.

The entire ending is Cloud being in denial that Aerith is dead. In his mind, he saved her, but in reality she died like in the original. When we see him "glitching" after it happens we are seeing what happened in reality with blood on the sword and Aerith. He is just refusing to accept that she's dead, which will set up his mind breaking in the third part even more, like in the og

there are 2 possibilities. possibility 1. Sephiroth has many abilities, one of which is creating hallucinations. as cloud withstands sephiroth's attack and manages to repel it. it was a hallucination created by sephiroth to trick cloud for a moment, so he could kill aerith. 2nd possibility Sephiroth can manipulate whispers so that fate continues to run as it should so that Aerith remains dead. ff7 rebirth has a story that still has many mysteries. because there will still be a sequel. If everything is explained in this part, it will likely interfere with the climax in the last part

To summarize it. Aerith is dead like in the original game, but Cloud can't accept it and his fractured mind is making him believe that he saved her, consequently causing him to see Aerith as a ghost while everyone else knows that she is dead.

well Cloud can only see her as his mind is broken, so he thinks she's alive, but now, this is where Part 3 comes, especially in the part where he gets crippled, so we have to rebuild his mind and finally realize his memories, including the death of Aerith, so he gets the acceptance he needs to stop Sephiroth once and for all, expect Advent Children references in that part

alright it's quite vague what implication for part 3 would be but here's my personal recap: 1. A Sephiroth (either a future version or a ghost) who knows everything that happened in the OG game, came back to the past to fuck with Cloud's mind once again because he just enjoys it, as well as fuck all timelines; 2. An Aerith (either a future version or a ghost) who knows everything that happened in the OG game, came back to the past to help Cloud's gang deal with this stronger Sephiroth; 3. Zack (either an alternate version or a ghost) who doesn't know shit, experienced an alternate timeline where he ended up helping Cloud's gang deal with the stronger Sephiroth. I'm having high hope that these 3 ghosts end up coming back and confront each other in the final game. I also really enjoy the theory that Aerith and Zack have always been ghosts who interfere with events to help Cloud's gang, and Cloud subconsciously knows about their existence, eventually they came to Cloud's subconscious many times to help him in Advent Children too.

With all the changes they made so far, I hope they can deliver a happy alternative ending. For example, I’d love to see Lucrecia Crescent wake up and get back with Vincent. Then she tells Sephiroth she’s his biological mum. Then they can be a happy family. The secret ending being Vincent using his step dad powers to tell Sephiroth that he’s grounded and go to his room. Sephiroth then smiles because a loving family was all he wanted all along… He looks into the distance and sees mako ghost Angeal smiling at him. The end :-)

I knew for decades that Sephiroth in his base form is a little stronger than Sephiroth Reborn. If the player did fight Sephiroth's base form first in the original game, it would be like fighting a more difficult Bizarro Sephiroth. Also keep in mind that Sephiroth's HP is 19,000 in the first battle and then roughly 56,000 during the last fight, which is more than Sephiroth Reborn if you combine the amounts together.
It not even his real body, according to the original game his real body is crystalize the whole time in Northren Crater until you fight Safer Sephiroth.
@van8671 Yeah, I knew that since I was 9 years old when the game came out. Sephiroth became one with Jenova in the lifestream and changed his appearance to look like his original self. Both Jenova Sephiroth and the original are just as strong in battle. It's just that the former can take different forms that make him a more worthy adversary than the original that Cloud launched into the Mount Nibel reactor. When I talk about Sephiroth's base form, I am talking about the human form that is part of the final boss in Rebirth.✌

she did dissolved into the lifestream LOL, they didn't show it but basically after Aerith and cloud fought Sephiroth she went away in green, that's basically the indication
@@stickyrice2141 Nope, she didn't. Advent Children proves it. Even children see her. She can't. She is what makes Sephiroth be in check. And Sephiroth too can't be absorved completely because of his Jenova nature. Its explained in the movie.

@@destinyawakened1268 they lost the purpose of this scene and her death. Even if they show it properly as a ‘flash back’ in Game 3, it’s not as hard hitting as the way it happened in the OG and all the reactions and then putting her body in the water.
