Confused but happy I think. When I stated out in 1986, it was black shoes and dare your wear anything else other than white ankle socks :) Thanks for the good tips. Will just go with the flow and keep those in mind and look cool as hell :) ;)

Ive started to be a fan of the overly coloured shoe over the past few years. A Rapha white classic lace up is a great go to for day to day but sometimes you want to just go all out and on those days the Red Shimano RP901s make an appearance. Super hard to match to anything but that's the price you pay for "fashion" :)
Finally a blog of substance ;-) actually this is an important topic as so many get black shoes wrong. For me its black rapha socks and plain black knicks all the way. Such a cool look, never white socks it just screams nerd/schoolboy. And plus one for #fashionfriday, make a thing Miller!!
Chris, at 05:21 I think you are missing a trick there. It’s those hideous black and white Sidi shoes which are spoiling the look, not the bright blue socks. The same socks but with a totally black stealth shoe like you describe would actually work well. These same two colours in fact formed the basis for Team Sky’s kit from a number of years ago you may recall, and it didn’t look half bad as a combination.
The thing I like about my 3 pairs of black shoes is I havent had to clean them once over the four years I've owned them. I do more ks than most pros to, at least 3 rides a week minimum 15km long, so the colour has been tested and proven. I've also found dried snot or road grime just flakes off after a few weeks. It's basically a self cleaning colour.
@@The1mars1 on a big week yes. If I'm building up for a big event I'll sometimes exceed 45km by a few km. Thankfully I have several pairs of black shoes, otherwise this wouldn't be possible to sustain.

Hi! Just the person to answer my delima. I have a black bike, I wear full leg sleeves black bike pants( I live in a very hot country), what colour shoes will suit more, black or white. Will black just blend in with the bike or would white be too much showing off? I also wear a black and grey helmet that coincidentally matches my bike as it is also black and grey design.
Black shoes with light to mouse grey socks are good. I’m talking about RAL 6035, maybe 7047 - no darker. You can have a narrow white or salmon pink stripe on them, as long as it’s not black. You’re welcome.
Get fi’zi:k shoes. They have the most stylish collection, even on partial black color. I like their black Vento Powerstrap Aeroweave. The pitfall is the price, but then, why pay slightly less and look fugly
I found socks @ in & out hamburgers styled like their drink cups with the red palm trees. Then i saw a bib with the california state flag. The top was white like the state flag and the bottom was red, with white palm trees in the lower red portion. Would look awesome with white bibs and shoes.

All the group rides I do everybody, and I mean everybody, uses black shoes. Not me anymore. I gave this some thought and I think white shoes add a level of high viz and I have really come to like that. People in the group may think I'm trying to be a Poser but that is not it at all. I don't wear much high viz kit but I feel that pedaling my bike with white shoes and socks helps drivers see me as a person riding a bike.
When i started cycling black shoes were the absolute standard compared with standard white socks. As far as i know Angel Arroyo in 1984 tdf was (one of ) the first cyclist to have white cyclingshoes. Later on Andy Hampsten wearing white Lakes in 1987-1988.
I can't make black shoes work for me. It just makes me feel like I am wearing a pair of loafers, the kind I wear for work in the office. The only ones I wear regularly are Mavic Comete because their carbon shell doesn't make them look like like that. Hurts my eyes when I see guys wearing black shoes with tall white socks, ugh... or pink. If anything black shoes can only be tolerable coupled with black socks. It's all white for me for every day, even in shit weather.
Black is the new black. I'm not a baseball fan, but I live in ATL (2k from the braves stadium) so gotta praise the shirt! I only wear black shoes, so this was great. I might have to do the opposite of your advice sometimes because I'm a tall guy, and sometimes breaking up the leg makes me look less like a chicken in bike kit :)
I wish that Specialized would make their wide fit S- Works 7 and their new S- Works Torch wide fit cycling shoes available in some fun bright and snazzy colourways.. Just like their normal with versions..
