You always explain things with such a calm voice Michael compared to some other Pokémon TH-camrs that scream or shout etc. That's one of the reasons I like coming back to your video's. So keep on going mate.
Honestly I gave up on dating and just focusing on what makes me happy now. Card collecting brings me joy the cards dont nag me and I might be left over with some money
If you started Pokemon investing in 2019 and put in $5k on Sun and Moon booster boxes. $1k in each of Team Up, Unbroken Bonds, Unified minds, hidden fates and Cosmic eclipse...Team up would be $35k profit and the rest $10k-$12k profit each. So over $75k in just 5 years. For reference you could have EASILY bought team up in early 2020 for $70-$80 on sale at most places
Please don't mention the set ill never have in the biggest bubble known since the tulip bubble of Holland I want to open all the team up. Just got a bb of cosmic for 850 usd
Your $1,000 in Hidden Fates booster boxes would have been a loss because as a specialty set, Hidden Fates didn't have genuine booster boxes so they would have all been counterfeit.
The thing is, if there are people gaining that much money, that means that there should be some people losing value out there. Either now, in a week or in a year that's difficult to predict
At the moment I’m working out the grading game. Buying singels that flip x3 at least in a psa10. Started at €200 with €250 grading costs. The net worth is now €1000, so I 2x my money. Sold all the cards, bought 20 new cards, grading costs now €500, if the return is solid, the net worth will be 3k+. Trying to go to 10k in a year time.
Good video mate! That old adage, "gotta have money to make money!" it translates to Pokemon too. I often refer to it (and it's very similar) as the Snowball Affect, the bigger the ball the more snow it picks up, in other words, the more cash you invest the more cash you make!
Love the video mate. One thing I try to remember, and it’s something that has been mentioned in your previous videos, is that Pokemon investing for me will only make up a small percentage ( 5-10%) of my total investment portfolio. I only started collecting and investing in sealed product earlier this year so I’m not actually at 5% yet but that is my intention. In this context, getting to a value of $100,000 is an amount which, if I do reach it, will take a long time and will come from the growth of the value of the product rather than my limited investment which I try to put in each month. Another point to mention is that I try not to get too hung up on comparing to other investors / collectors. The typical ‘comparison is the thief of joy’ sentiment applies here as there will always be someone with a bigger investment position or a better collection. Particularly compared to my position as I’ve only been at this for 8 months or so.
Jeez, I have a long way to go, only just started collecting a couple of months back. (‘It’s gone up $20 this week”- that’s me now 😂) thanks for the info 🥃
Good point but that's for all collectibles. 13% for eBay plus shipping (though not always), Facebook market place is possible but could be sketchy, card shows are a good idea but then you're likely bargaining and getting 80-90% Fair market value. Point being there are always some type of "fee" to experience.
I love all the numbers. The risk is that scaling can also spin down. Invest 40k you haven’t got - hit a dip - can’t pay your rent - eviction and a cold winter pushing a shopping cart round the streets with what used to be 40k of product 😂😂😂
Like any market, it has peaks and valleys. Sell high, buy low. You need to study the market and understand when to sell and when to buy. Timing is everything. If you're in it for the long haul, you'll do just fine. If you're trying to cut corners and flip quick for profit, you're more likely to take an L. Slow and steady wins the race.
Well there are 2 TYPES of seller you can be. 1) you can sell as you go. So eventually it becomes a daily/weekly thing to list on eBay, list on TCG, package boxes and visit the post office, but you will also need to be good and replenishing your inventory or 2) you just keep buying and buying and one day, cash everything out to one entity and BE OK with taking 65-70% if it means you get to dump 100K worth of products to someone with no work, and still make enough gains to where you’re happy, and I can almost guarantee you there is a big whale or shop that can easily do that for you since they have the volume to turn that over quicker than you can.
Well, if you're smart, you'd sell some. Keep some. Consignment services, Facebook, ebay, tcgplayer. Maybe sell a few cheap cards under market price for the 5 stars. If you can figure out sells then maybe don't invest.
Pokemon exploding, Hurricanes imploding 🏏 Since using the Shiny app a few months ago I’ve noticed gains of around 2K to 3K per month, it’s preforming better than my precious metals. Top video mate👍
Haha, this is the pokenomics version of those finance videos I’ve seen. Well done! I thought it was entertaining to contextualize this in Pokémon boxes 😊
@pokeoz91 Price is moving, but Paradox Rift was never a set that moved quickly in our area. Even our LGS always has it stocked in excess. All other boxes sell within a week, but Paradox sits for a month(+). It's everywhere, and honestly, the set is boring (especially compared to Temporal Forces, which has exactly the same gimmicks, but better chase cards). IMO: I'd much rather have the ancient Legendary Beasts over Roaring Moon and iron Valiant. The only thing that can redeem PR in my eyes is if they make a matching kyogre card for a future set to pair with the groudon.
I feel like when you get into the hundreds of thousands of dollars for modern product, storage starts to become a serious concern. On top of that insurance for theft/fire/flood. Unless you are stupid rich, that amount of money/volume becomes way too much risk for growing serious retirement wealth. My honest opinion is invest in Pokémon if you enjoy it, but if you find yourself starting to have life changing money tied up in sealed product, move that money over to another investment that can’t literally go up in flames. Rudy is also an anomaly. He hoards sealed TCGs as leverage against his current business model (he can continue his patreon if his distribution decided to get rid of him). The dude is also stupid rich.
couldnt agree more, took me 2-3 years to 0-100k my collection, this summer i was at 110k, and not even 5 months later, im at 170k, insanely easy, still getting crushed by my cryptos tho XD
Well.. my only concern is the demand.. hopefully Pokémon as a company continues to brainwash wash them kids so.. in the future they become adult like us with bad addiction and ripping packs. Hoarding and collecting.. So then we can sell our bags at a 1000x to them before we die. cough cough
They been at it almost 3 decades , thats almost 3 generations keep coming back every now and then. Not to mention, Japan is very keen at seeding anime and its lifestyle into a young mind and continues to do so in various forms of marketing and products plugging to trail that lifestyle throughout your lifetime. Be it games, foods, cultures,…
There is no risk to modern with xray machines. There is almost no risk from xray machines in vintage. If you dont have 1st edition base set or ex era packs, you should never even think about an xray machine risk.
@TheTpips what do you mean there is no risk? Like they can't see the cards? Or they can't damage the cards? I'm not worried about card damage. I'm thinking they look in the booster box, see no chase cards and then your package is worthless
@axelhoogland9442 the only way kt makes sense to do this is with vintage packs with significant value. I mean there is no risk that any pack worth under 300 dollars will have an cray machine used. No modern packs, ever. Also just ask yourself how many xray machines are gonna be doing this, and how many people are gonna have access. Don't believe what you see on TH-cam or media. Its all just hype. Xraying packs is not a real issue.
@axelhoogland9442 there are plenty of scams out there. Xraying packs is not one that will ever effect you unless you're buying packs worth over a significant amount of money, and those guys won't xray the packs. They would just weigh them. Weighable packs are everything up to breakpoint.

Michael brings a level of maturity and logic to a market that is kinda batshit crazy. Rock on, Michael! 🤙🏻
Thanks legends!
Honestly I gave up on dating and just focusing on what makes me happy now. Card collecting brings me joy the cards dont nag me and I might be left over with some money
So to make money you already need to be rich. Its the same in all fields

How the heck did you embed that Greninja

Nice synopsis of how money grows money. Thanks Michael and Merry Christmas!
Thanks heaps! Merry Christmas to you too!

Very well said mate!
The kind of guy who loves moving the decimal point one place to the right.
😂
🤣
Love the video. If I could suggest in the nicest way possible, Higher quality audio would be awesome!
Such a good video. Rly brought a new perspective to me
Thanks for tuning in!
Jeez, I have a long way to go, only just started collecting a couple of months back. (‘It’s gone up $20 this week”- that’s me now 😂) thanks for the info 🥃
You can do it!
Do not forget the costs of storing 400 boxes of each set, shipping fees and commissions.
Good point but that's for all collectibles. 13% for eBay plus shipping (though not always), Facebook market place is possible but could be sketchy, card shows are a good idea but then you're likely bargaining and getting 80-90% Fair market value. Most investors own a home and dont need to pay for additional storage.
That would be millions of dollars. Where did you learn to math
Well fusion is up to 300 so that will take care of those fees your talking about
i just started adding sealed to my stuffed like 1 mo th ago and it’s going up a few $ and it’s nice gonna keep going
I love all the numbers.

Invest 40k you haven’t got - hit a dip - can’t pay your rent - eviction and a cold winter pushing a shopping cart round the streets with what used to be 40k of product 😂😂😂
The only problem is how can you sell all of them without a good seller profile, or consistent market.
Like any market, it has peaks and valleys. Sell high, buy low. You need to study the market and understand when to sell and when to buy. Timing is everything. Sell through consignment services like Ketchumallcollecibles or Z&G. That’s one of your best & easiest options.

I love your chill vibes.
Thanks heaps!
We will appreciate the exponential growth once we offload our 5 boxes of Paradox Rift 😂
Appreciate your hard work!
Surely paradox must be close to making a small move!

Cool bro even PPL now are fighting in the isles
I’m pretty sure Rudy owns CGC.
100k is sick, but I get the idea. Hopefully we get 100k+ pokemon portfolio one day :P
For sure!
Aye aye! First for once 😅
Love the videos man!
Aye!

Oh mate, he must be crazy rich!
With the market we’re in right now, everyone should have experienced some gains over the past few years
For sure!
Spot on 🐶 👍
Hope so
Damn how you got over $100k in Pokemon cards! I'd insure that shit over $100k
You don’t realize how quickly it adds up
$5k in late 2019/early 2020 on just team up booster boxes (could easily be bought for $70-$80 on sale in Feb 2020) would be $150k today.
@@stevegaspar Insane! Good point... Out of curiosity, would you insure it?
@@danield707 depends on what insurance you have for say your home and contents already. But generally anything over $40k IMO is worth insuring
@@danield707 Absolutely
Do you have 100k invested in Pokemon?

People who have made a lot of money in anything most likely had big capital to begin with.

Shiny is cool!
Good app!
Hit 200k today. I'm really grateful for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months. Started with 14k in March 2024
😂
brother?
The first part was believable. You shouldn’t have added the second part.

Dont count unrealized gains brother. Sell your shit then tell us you have 200k in cash
