I am a professional MUA and have worked for several top brands. Powders don't expire as in go bad. They do lose pigment due to age. Creams definitely do expire, but powders are not like a gallon of milk. 99% of the time, if you store your items properly (cool, dry, no direct sunlight), you will be fine. Not long ago, there were no expiration dates on cosmetics, but be warned that the companies use it as a tactic to get you to keep buying. ❤
I have heard many dermatologists and chemists (formulators) say powders also expire. I personally had a pink eye due to powder eyeshadow (not older than 3 years and I tried to keep them clean and stored cool and dry) my eyes started to get better when I stop to use those shadows. Maybe I did something wrong or my eyes are very sensitive ... I still think it is not a bad idea to buy new powder products after some time😊
@@soniasobaro9127do you know for sure it was the powder? Its hard for bacteria to grow in a powder environment due to lack of moisture. There's too many factors that could have caused your pink eye, and it could have been the powder. There could have also been a cross contamination issue where you had it and infected the powder. It's hard to say because the vector could have several different origins that are more likely. It's just highly unlikely the powder spawned something on its own.
@@yourfuturewaifu9061It is difficult to be completely sure, it could have been cross contamination as I sometimes have watery eyes. I just prefer not to keep my products very long, specially the ones that go close to my eyes. An eye infection is not something I want to have again. Maybe I'm obsessed, sorry. I just appreciated to hear about expired makeup in a declutter 🙃
Thank you! That was just the entertainment I needed today!! Your commentary was hilarious. My family doesn’t understand how I can watch an hour of blush decluttering but truly what I needed. You are my people!!
I just got a label maker, and I'm adding the date when I'm purchasing/opening my products. And next year, if anything doesn't have a label, I will know that it is from before 2024. That will make me aware of how old things are in my collection.
I absolutely have to label my products because i just can’t remember anything lol. I just had a shampoo that was 1/4 of the way left, 2 actually that smelled off. And i was thinking oh no how long have i had that. So thats now added to my list. I don’t bother to do it for powder products though like blush and bronzer because i just go by texture on those. But i have for loose powder just out of curiosity of how long it takes to finish
Im with Kackie. No labels. I dot a tiny bump of pretty nail polish on the bases, if I remember as I get stuff through the year. No buy this year tho so it'll be a while.
Thanks for introducing me to both RMS blushes (Hanky Panky and Crystal Slipper) and Phytosurgence Condensate. Condensate topped with a little Hanky Panky is perfect for my super dry, pale, cool skin!
I thought you were going to pitch the Melt powder because it is so bad, so I laughed when you said, "pass that along to somebody else who wants to be miserable."
I’m on my second tube of the peach c primer. I loathe the peach scent but it goes away quickly. I know it was made to play nicely with sunscreen, and that had been true for me. I mix one or two drops of foundation in with it and wear it on top of my sunscreen and it stays all day.
Lol stickers?! For dates? Nah i use a precision Sharpe point to write a tiny date month, 2 or 3 digits, ON EXISTING STICKERS, & It cannot be noticeable. Periodddd!
Obviously I don't have as many blushes as you (LOL) but probably have more than the average person. But with all of my makeup, as soon as I open it, I date it on the back so I know exactly how old it is. It really helps. It is too hard to remember when everything was purchased. Sharpie's work the best.
I don’t know about the orange hero sunscreen but they make a green one that helps with redness and I love it. It’s my daily sunscreen because it is mineral doesn’t bother my skin and it’s decently cheap
I finally “understand” the nars light reflecting powder! For me it’s all in the brush that I use. I like it because it’s not a powdery powder if that makes sense - it matifies without making things flat or cakey. For me a lot of powders look cakey! For example, the Kosas powder that everyone loves I do not. I thought I did, but for me it doesn’t play well with a lot of my foundation preferences.
The can is emptied and I look up, "Good... God." 🤣(loud cackling laughter from me.) I was honestly wondering if you were going to clean that sheet below or make it into a fun canvas later. I have been on quite the cleaning streak and a gift in line with my mission arrived at my door as if to say, "Great work." I hope this has given you that positive resetting energy for a fantastic New Year. ✨
armani balm blushes are still on their site and some department stores! i REALLY recommend the neutral pink. fave blush of all time and if a bunch of people buy it maybe they won’t discontinue it (also sorry if i already commented this. i thought i did but i don’t think it posted but who knows)
I love the Mac glow play or go play, whatever they’re called blushes. I only have two, but I freaking love them. My cheek structure is different from yours though.
The most ruthless declutter I’ve seen from you! Your imitation of dupe-obsessed elf people sent me! Unhinged!! 😂 Also, I think 2024 is going to be the year that I try Surrat - you have influenced me.
I also disliked the Face Glaze from InnBeauty. It does not play well with any of my other products and I always regret it when I wear it. I finally got rid of it earlier this week!
I’m going to do my mom’s makeup for my sister’s wedding. Do you think the BB vitamin enriched face base is the best primer for mature skin? She’s almost 70 and she’s very worried about wedding style makeup making her look older / severe (hence me doing it instead of a MUA).
Hi. I'm 47. Not 70 but yes BB is good. But the Phillip Thomas Roth one is better (do a couple of practices first because you can't move your face when it sets 😂) check out Angie hot and flashy review. Also definitely look at some hooded eye tutorials. You probably know this already but the shadow goes in a totally different spot, even slightly winged shadow can drag the face down. Xx have fun xx
@@beatdizzy thank you, that’s super helpful! Definitely going to do a couple trial runs - that’s part of why she wanted me to do it too, so we could experiment with different looks beforehand and it wouldn’t feel so high risk on the day haha. I’ve been watching a bunch of tutorials from this TH-camr “The Hooded Lid” which is helping a lot. Just want to do right by her!!
"Oh yeah there's more, hold please!" 😂 My thoughts on some of the products...I hate the VB primer. It's awful under my makeup...it just pills up horribly. I do love the Ciaté primer, though. I'm a huge fan of the Westman Atelier blush sticks. I also absolutely love my Givenchy blush. ❤ I'm looking forward to more decluttering videos! Thanks Kackie!
wait a video idea could be what products did you like/recommend previously that you decided you don't like (because of issues with long term use, other formulas being better, etc) also... my soul just needs a simihaze pt 2 video. not that specific brand but just destroy a bs brand 😂
Completely random but do you have any thoughts on Wonder Valley - it’s an olive oil based beauty brand? I think you said a few months ago that you had bought some items and wondered if they were any good 😊
USE THE JONES ROAD BALM for if you get flaking or rashes around your eyes. I use it whenever my autoimmune disorder acts up and causes the skin around my eyes and lips to swell and flake off. Keeps me from looking like a lizard shading its skin and the smoothness and hydration by far makes up for the downside of the stickiness. Also works wonders as an overnight mask for your under eyes.

Love this declutter series, its refreshing to watch someone just go by gut feeling and not agonise over every single decision ❤

My motto is "if it looks fine, smells fine, and works fine... I'm gonna use it"
Me too.👍
Take a shot every time Kackie says "Tom." . . . Glug glug. 😆

could you swatch all the make blushes? confused about the colors for my skin (pale cool toned olive)

Congrats! A declutter taking into consideration expiration dates 😊🎉 . Also awsome coming from a beuty content creator to keep only 10 wow❤
Better solution for marking your makeup age, I bought black and white acrylic pens, then just write the month and year directly on whatever it is.
Well done! 🙌🙌🙌
Based on shelf life alone, powdered blushes for me all the way.
