Over 2023, I indulged and expanded my collection by quite a bit (in terms of makeup, my skincare is a tight-knit collection). 2024 is gonna be filled with me loving on the beautiful collection I built last year. I have some makeup play time after I finish work most days even though I'm not going anywhere. That's how my decently large eyeshadow collection gets a lot of use. I get to experiment a lot with color and placement.

I'm definitely in my luxury beauty era and tired of dupes and drugstore. I've mentioned on other luxury creators' channels, I want a best of brand video or a buy this from each category. Like I want to try Valentino, Dior, and Surratt concealors, and I'm not sure which one to buy. I want Chanel and Gucci bronzers, which is the best? I need help making the most educated and wise luxury purchase since I SHOULDN'T buy them all 😅 I know there's different reasons to buy different brands but I enjoy recommendations.
FYI. I've had Chanel Dragee in my cart forever...still holding out on pulling the trigger for some reason 🙃

Having looked at that brand's website (yikes!), that "balm" shouldn't be used on anyone's skin, least of all any that's upset: that stuff is nothing but a shortcut to irritation.
'Natural' isn't always best when it comes to skin care, friends.

I had horrific perioral dermatits for 3 years. After trying all the things that didn't work (I kept up with the fragrance free laundry detergent, no SLS, no flouride) but what really changed is that I went on an 85/15 animal based diet (85% animal products (eggs, beef, kefir/probiotic green yogurt, lamb, wild caught salmon) 15% squash, sweet potatos, carrots, saurkraut, grapefruit, blueberries & avocado). I can't recommend it enough, heal your gut.
I am 1 1/2 years out of a flare up and eat about an 80/20 diet with the occasional treat but I had to be super strict for 3 months, I also took a few supplements and switched to orangic mold free coffee.

Oh man I feel you Kackie, I struggled with perioral dermatitis for 2 years. A course of isotretinoin has kept it away for now. I'm still so wary of trying new skincare or makeup, so I've been trying to find the joy in a more pared back collection. Which, turns out, is actually quite enjoyable! And saves me quite a lot of money!

I have been struggling with dermatitis and eczema and psoriasis and just flipping everything for like 3 years. And told being a woman over 40 was to blame. I’ve even had staph infections I needed medication for due to itching in my sleep. Turns out I have a fungal infection! It seems to have started in my gut and is now everywhere. Now that I’m getting it under control my skin problems are decreasing so much I think they’re going to go all the way away. And enjoy symptom free over 40hood a little longer. And oh my gosh I sleep all night just being more comfortable in my skin.

If anyone has the Jones road face pencil, could you give your two cents?
I’m imagining that it would be a more ‘budge proof’ formula for spot concealing (compared to a liquid or pot concealer) due to the stiffness and waxiness required to be shaped as a pencil. Yes or no?
I’m just sick and tired of my tedious spot concealing work lifting as soon as I apply blush, bronzer, foundation, or whatever over top. I’ve tried all the hacks… and I just don’t want to work that hard. I just want a formula that seals itself down until I wash it off 😅 (jk, my expectations aren’t that unrealistic)
so, is this pencil what I’m looking for?

So I must admit I have been influenced by you to get the Chanel Baume Essential and the YSL Candy Gloss. I will report on if they work for me or not. My under eyes/cheeks are always so dry and textured whenever I put makeup on. The simple fact is that my lips are chapped 24/7 no matter what products i have ever used. Would love to see anything resolve these situations! I really appreciate how you revel in your authentic self. Keep it up!

If you’re game, at some point, I highly recommend trying May Lindstrom skincare, specifically the Blue Cocoon. It’s a solid oil balm that she developed to help support her skin barrier because she personally suffered from skin issues. It’s really pricey but lasts a long time (you don’t need to use much for it to be effective), and it smells incredible just from the ingredients, no added fragrance. It’s luxury meets clean, but without the judgement. Especially since you’re currently loving a more simple routine. I wonder if your skin’s micro biome has lost some fauna and needs a prebiotic type thing to help it heal. Wishing you luck and a speedy return to the pleasures of your vast archive!

Hi Kackie! I just wanted to throw out there that sometimes Perioral Derm can be caused by hormones! Some doctors have a theory that’s why it’s more common in women overall. Might be worth looking into! Also high stress sometimes can trigger it potentially I think 🤔
When I was struggling with mine only a few things helped:
    - No sunscreen or makeup on the area I had it
    - Calendula cream 2 times a day
    - No actives (you know this already though haha)
    - Time and patience

I'm on the same journey as you. I don't know if I can indulge or hold back so, I have to introduce my makeup back to my daily routine. I need to see what is working for me and what is not so, someone else can enjoy. Thank God I have a Sister and three grown Nieces. I had total hair loss and my hair is growing back but is just sticking up. I don't see my curls. My eyebrows are not growing at the end so I am looking like an angry bird. 🙃My skin is dark and scarred in too many areas, my nails still grayish black. My feet are so dry and sensitive. I went through two different kind of chemotherapy for onstage 4 cancer for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. I had a huge lymphoma growing onto my ear, neck, skull, throat, mouth, shoulder and the cancer was in my face, neck, stomach, kidneys, liver, spleen, one lung, and bone marrow. everything with my body is different. It's taking time but, I am not in a rush. I am just thankful for God's grace and mercy over my life. Right after dealing with chemo, my body was shutting down. I experienced hearing loss first then vomiting then my body went to into total sepsis mode. I was incubated into a medical coma. Once they found out what was the cause, I had emergency surgery to remove my port implant. The whole experience was overwhelming and I am still recovering but, I am getting better day by day. God restored my health, I am cancer free, my hearing is back to normal. I don't know why I am sharing all this but, I know all of it is to get someone to hold on to HOPE for God's glory and praise. Prayers work, I had an army of prayer warriors and we claim Jesus's promises. I continue to pray for others because I know they work. I am a testament to God's love for us all. I cannot stop giving God enough praise. Never lose your hope and joy! Kackie, I love you but please don't change. If you do, just do so to become more of you! 💯🙏🏽💖🤗🦋🤣🙌🏽🐶✌🏽

Glad I'm not the only one that itches once it gets below 50 and scratches with an old boar bristle hairbrush lol. I got the gleanser and moisturizer the last time you talked about it and I enjoy both! The gleanser takens some getting used to, I don't quite feel like it rinses well so I only use it in the shower.

My makeup collection im trying to really do a ton of research [ like this or that] of similar products with the end look- maybe not formulation- and seeing what is best. I don't go through a ton of makeup so I want to be sure what I get is A++++++. I don't particularly care if the maje up is high end or drugstore but rather just which looks and performs better and the amount if that counts.
I'm concentrating on skincare right now and even will be making my own serums and lotions soon etc. I've been ready/ studying formulating those for many years and have a great science chemist resource that teaches beginners at home how to properly do it safely with preservatives etc. That way I can avoid fragrances and add actives etc other ingredients that I know my skin likes and at a cheaper price often.

Entering my mid 30s and similarly experiencing a version of the whole sensitive, itchy skin thing UGH! My lips have also taken on a new Sahara Desert vibe and I’ve found my saving grace is EOS The Hero Lip repair. Possibly an unpopular opinion, but I find it to be magic. I went from using it just at night to it being my go-to during the day. It does have a strawberry-ish scent. Not strong though. If you haven’t already, it’s worth a try. :)

I have been wondering about Prequel! As soon as I finish all my stash of Beauty of Joseon cleanser and moisturizer that I bought I'll probably switch. I'm also a fan of MOB foundation but there isn't a pale enough cool-toned one for me for winter. The YSL Candy Glaze is NOT for me, but that's because I am "aging" and my mouth is drooping and I have some wrinkles at the sides, and that Candy Glaze migrates right into those wrinkles (no matter what I do) and looks terrible, so warning to "aging" folk.

You may find a clear lipliner helpful for halting the migration of slippy products: they're available at different price points & are basically invisible on the lips. Truly a game-changer in the fight of makeup vs ageing.

My makeup game is really looking like just sticking to things I know. Which for the bit of me who loves trying the next thing after using up something complexion based kinda bums me out. But! If it works- why not be a legacy buyer of certain products??

I put a Japanese or Korean moisturizing toner in a spray bottle and keep it in my shower to spray my body and face. I sometimes still need a regular lotion or oil, but most days this is all I need and usually in winter my skin is so dry it cracks.
