    I was really skeptical of how transformational this would be; the infamous slack in the throttle is really very tiny. But everyone seemed enthusiastic about this modification and it isn't that expensive, so I bought and installed the spacers. The difference is subtle and mostly I don't notice it, but then there are times when I get on the gas mid-corner and it feels SO MUCH better than it did before. I recommend it.

    I can't imagine there is any intentional design to this free-play/slop. I came from a Triumph Trident 660 which had zerø. Throttle was either on, or off. No vague in between space. Throttle control was exact and perfect. A month ago I traded to a ST900 and I've been telling myself I could live this for the past 1900 miles. I could but, no I'd rather not, it's a PITA. Slow speed maneuvers, corners etc....is a bit herky-jerky. Salesperson put these on her Scam 900 and said it's a must do mod. I'm going to get these. Thanks for this install vid👌

    Great tutorial, I have already sent off for one of these kits, so should be here soon, I watched the Missenden Flier channel and got the same info, and I see that the idling speed on your bike is not effected, so that was my only concern. Can't wait to fit mine, anyway, keep the vids comin' it's a great channel! cheers, Dave

    I watched the Missenden Flyer's video about this and remembered it while on a ride -- honestly while on the bike and wearing gloves, I really couldn't determine whether I had the dreaded 1/32 of an inch of throttle slop. I think if this is the best thing you can do to a motorcycle, that the bike must be essentially perfect.

      I only noticed the throttle acting snatchy at low speed making low speed town riding more difficult. Just less control at stop lights etc. Afterward it's like getting a remapped well behaved throttle.

      @@johnpoon8 I installed Rox 2" risers on my Speedtwin. Clutch cable ends up to short. Had to reroute the stock clutch cable on the back side of the forks between the tank and the fork. Put some Gorrilla tape on the tank so it does not scratch it. Will use this until I get a longer Triumph clutch cable.

    I know about the throttle slop along with the rest of the motorbike fraternity, the marketing on this bike is all about the detailing, Triumph has an R&D department that obviously missed this problem or decided to let the customer fix it.
    Four other issues, very limited turning circle, Tank with a seam? non-adjustable suspension & the underslung rear brake calliper. Again it's all in the detail. It's not a budget bike but it has some budget parts.

    Good job on the throttle. Personally I never felt an issue on my speed twin. I have only have one issue with the speed twin, that is it sprays a lot of muck when riding on a rainy day. Know of any after market mud flaps or scrapers which will prevent this ? Anyway thanks a ton for the good content you keep uploading......👍🏻

      Very few modern bikes have even half decent mudguards. Perhaps the designers all live in your State! Seriously though it is a dumb fashion, because that is all it is to have these mini mudguards.

    Hello Adam . I finally got a speed Twin !! I have noticed that when you accelerate the throttle is a bit sharp. Are those pieces to soften that feeling? Thank you!!

    • @AdamCroll
      @AdamCroll  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah with these shims it removes the slop therefore making your twist motion of the wrist more precise. And less jarring resulting in a better feel.

  • @cmartin2932

    I added these to my speed twin yesterday. I noticed that I have to sometimes manually close the throttle, meaning that if I just let go of the throttle it does not always completely return to closed. Instead, it may return to a position where the idle is about 2000 RPMs instead of 1000. Has anyone else had this issue? Will it break in?

    No explanation of why there are 2 pieces (wouldn't just one be enough?) or a shot of it working, even though you had the whole thing wide open. All I learned is that it's easy to install.

    I would be careful, or actually I wouldn't add this on my bike. Tried the spacer on my Ducati and guess what? One spacer popped off after 900miles, got stuck in the throttle house and blocked the throttle...basically it was stuck and the bike started reving. Thank fully the clutch saved me! Never adding this aftermarket stuff, its literally unsafe. Be careful!

    I reversed it on my bike. Useless mod. You need it. Maybe On a Ducati track bike.
    There Is a reason for this, it's called safety. Slack is needed for regular road riding.
