    Your video is 100% dead on correct; well done. We owned a ‘19 Limited Sequoia (until an accident this summer) and currently have a ‘21 Platinum Tundra. They are both excellent vehicles. You couldn’t pay me enough to own anything else. They’re both built to last. I would buy either of these before even considering buying the current new versions of both.

    I love the look of the double cab tundra. I've got a black 21 sr5 double car. I love it. It is simple, but will last forever.

    We have a white Sequoia as well and I’m in the hunt for a 2018 inferno orange limited Tundra myself.

    We have both. I have a 2014 Tundra Crewmax Limited I bought in 2015. 194k miles now. Great Truck. Love it. It's my 2nd gen 2 Tundra. Had a 2013 Double cab for about 18 months until we had our first kid then realized the DC backseat SUCKS for rear facing car seats and long trips. Traded it for my current crewmax We also have a 2018 Sequoia Platinum we bought in Jan 2024 to replace my wife's 2012 4Runner Limited. Hated to get rid of the 4runner because we LOVED it, but Needed a bigger vehicle bc we were about to have our 3rd child. Actually looked at buying a new Sequoia, Looked at the new LC's/ GX, and looked at a few different 200 Series (LC's & LX570's). After consideration, I decided against the new Sequoia because of issues they're having with the new engines. Nixed out the new LC or GX because it wasn't really any larger inside than our 4runner. Nixed out the 200 series because the interior of the Sequoia was roomier and the 3rd row seat was weird in the 200's. Then proceeded to look for a clean well maintained 2018-2021 Sequoia. Other than a few 2021 TRD Pros, there wasn't a ton available for sale. Looked at a few of them over a few months. Looked at some limiteds with the bench middle.. nah. Definitely wanted captains chairs. Looked at a few that were clearly northern vehicles with rust.. NOPE. Ultimately landed on the 2018 Platinum we have now. It was well maintained one owner from NC and clearly garage kept its whole life. Mileage was a little higher than I intially wanted but honestly with the 5.7 it doesn't really matter that much. These motors will go for a loooong time. However, I did have to replace the drive side catalytic converter on the Sequoia a few months after we bought it, so that was kinda a bummer. Those aren't cheap...

      Good stuff! My Tundra pops up a Cat code every few hundred miles. May have to get that replaced. I like the look of the new Sequoias but the cargo area is unusable w that shelf and third row seat…

    Do you know what setting you have the 5100s on the tundra?

    • @backyarddadKL
      @backyarddadKL  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, it’s on the top setting. A little too stiff riding in my opinion, the middle setting would be better.

    I would also say, from someone who’s in the market for possibly both vehicles; the tundra is cheaper and definitely more widely available with more options due to huge production numbers versus the sequoia. Because I wouldn’t buy a new one of either if my life depended on it!

      @backyarddadKL  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m with you! The used prices are so high though, better financing and deals on new these days. We plan on keeping the Sequoia until it blows up, so worth it to buy new. Well, that and the 5.7 V8 vs the new turbos.

    Exact same power trains. There are several million mile Tundras out there. Haven't seen any Sequoia with million miles. Both are excellent vehicles though.

    • @backyarddadKL
      @backyarddadKL  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, I’ll have to look it up. Perhaps they aren’t exactly the same. Though, far fewer Sequoias are made annually than Tundras, and no doubt Tundras get more “press”. Maybe mine will be the first though :)

    Do you get about 400 miles per fill up on gas in the Tundra with that huge 38 gallon fuel tank?

    • @backyarddadKL
      @backyarddadKL  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m usually around 350 per tank…

    I really wish Toyota would have given us a lockable AWD transfer case in the Tundra. Even my mother-in-law's '13 stripped down Silverado has that. It's great for snowy roads and even helps in torrential rain. Honestly, the Tundra's 4WD system will work fine on snowy roads except for all the pushing it wants to do while making a turn.

    211k miles on our 2nd gen platinum sequoia, runs like new still. Looking at getting a tundra, my Tacoma has 302k miles now 😅

    Sequoia is really good utility wise because the seats fold completely flat.
