      You said basically you have to do 3 things
      Cross hammers ⚒️
      Bed 🛏
      Cross hammers ⚒️
      But I've watched some other videos and the guy just done two things
      Rest 🛌
      Cross hammers ⚒️
      So I'm confused 😕

    I'm a newbie (at the tender age of 47) and would say that if you were able to program the timer of a VHS video recorder back in the day, you'll have no problems with this😂

    Another tip, BEFORE you put your card in, select other work on the tacho, that way when you finish your manual entry it will be on other work rather than rest

  • @johnmayberry7669
    @johnmayberry7669 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When l pull my card at the end of my shift it goes on rest until it goes back in the machine as long as there is no missing time and you can account for what activity you have been doing 24 hrs in the day .it's quite simple

  • @nigelcharles5824
    @nigelcharles5824 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does it record it either way

  • @spudtrainspotting9149
    @spudtrainspotting9149 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Surely it does it all for you? It knows when the vehicle is moving, and when your stopped in traffic it goes back onto crossed hammers.

    • @TruckerJohno
      @TruckerJohno  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you don't do a manual entry it leaves a question mark between when you last took your card out and put it back in, they use to interpret that as rest but now they actually want to see it on rest so you have to do a manual entry to show you was on rest

    • @pauldeal68

      @TruckerJohno so if I take my card out on a Friday at 4pm and put it back in at 6 am on the Monday morning I have to then put a manual entry for the rest over the weekend??

    What will the first line of the tacho display read if your using a new tacho card and haven't driven/used a tacho card for years?

    • @TruckerJohno
      @TruckerJohno  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you haven't used 1 for years I'm sure it will still show the last time is was used, and as for a new card I'm not too sure

  • @collinparker7219
    @collinparker7219 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Once the first 'other work' is done and you push ok, the next line has a flashing 'rest' icon. MUST you OK this icon to tell the tacho to record rest?

    Great video mate. When has it become law to do manual entries? Im new to hgv driving and working for my 2nd company both conpanies never shown me to do manual entries they just put the tacho on rest before removing then insert it the next day. Im guessing this is wrong?

    • @TruckerJohno
      @TruckerJohno  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it's been law a couple of years now they pretty much want your card everything you have done as when you just pop thr card in and leave it it shows a question mark, this use to be accepted as a rest period but now they now want it to show rest

    Below is the extract from the DVSA website regarding needing to action manual entries . It was updated in August 2020.
    "ensure that all duties conducted since the driver card was last removed from a tachograph are manually entered onto the card record, using the manual entry facility on the tachograph "
