Not to confuse the issue about working 7 days a week but actually on domestic rules you can work it round to working 7 days a week, and over 55 hours per week, which is perfectly legal if its done correctly, please mention this in your next stream as some drivers get confused between the difference of domestic and EEC , and don't forget to mention about defect checking beginning and end of every shift, noticed a new driver the other day whom totally didn't do either hence he got his first earful.
Excellent simple video mate. If you're paid by the hour, these 20 minutes here and there soon add up over the week. Vosa like to see a manual entry, shows you know what you are doing 👍

It's a bloody nightmare, started my first job this week and still can't get my head round it. I do think they should teach you how to use them when your learning to drive the Hgv good luck.
If anyone ever sees DRIVING WITHOUT CARD 28 on their Tacho, it's there cos someone's driven the lorry without a card. Chances are it's the shunter who's moved the lorry round in the yard as he doesn't need a card for shunting in the yard. Simply press OK prior to putting your card in, will resolve the issue.
Recording of other work is a legal requirement. Drivers most record all other work and periods of availability - including work for other employers - on all driving and NON-DRIVING days within a week where they have undertaken driving that comes within the scope of the EU rules on drivers’ hours since their last weekly rest. For example, a driver works in a warehouse, a shop or on a ship on a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and wishes to drive a vehicle within the scope of the EU rules on a Thursday of the same week, fixed week or rolling week, must complete records for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Weather the work is for the same or a different employer. Connected or not connected. The records must be either. • Be written manually on a chart. • Be written manually on a printout from a digital tachograph • Made by using the manual input facility of a digital tachograph.
Evening Deady. Well put and yes your right record all your time at work 👍🏻 Do some as it’s always useful for new and old drivers 😊 Keep safe buddy 👍🏻 Cheers Stevie 😎
Hi Deady, thanks so much for this really clear explanation. One question ... if you are entering the 3.5T van as 'other work' and a start and end time, does that get you in breach of the WTD rules? ie do you have to register a 15 min break before the 6 hour point? Thanks James
Haha I shouldn laugh but this video alone explains "Bob on" why my boss is pulling his hair out with my infringements not knowing what I'm doing wrong with the drivers ball n' chain lol. When I was working, I had a sign written firms van to go home in, I was told that should be included in my driving hours. Most of the time it wasn't relevant, but on the odd occasion it would have taken me over my hours. Depends how picky VOSA want to be I suppose.
I think they are on the ball with Drivers hours, it's a fine unless you have a good reason. I don't think they care too much about working time infringements.
Great video buddy quick question .If you are waiting to load work so put it on break ? Will that break be than counted as my break of 45 mins which is what I get daily . Diss that mean I can only get 35 mins break or can I still get a whole 45 mins break as that 10 min I was waiting for work ?
I have followed all your video's and I am sure that they will have helped many a potential new driver to the industry. Nice step by step of manual entries, very clear and helpful. So glad you made the point of recording all your duty hours to comply with the law. The only point you might reconsider (IMHO) is the use of POA, a waiting time that the driver knows about before it starts, i.e the shovel driver is just finishing a brew - he will be with you in 10 minutes, would be POA. POA does not count as duty time for the 6 hour rule, your 48 hours average or your 60 hours maximum working time so can help avoid "running over" the WTD rules, especially when you go back to doing longer hours as a tramper. (most WTD infringements are in the second six hours of a duty) Look forward to the next installment, keep safe and well.
I understand this mate, but POA makes everything really confusing and in 99% of cases, it's unnecessary After being on POA for just say 47 minutes, you now have to have a hand written time to the minute of when you stopped driving because it'll reset your driving hours on tacho but not actually count as a break... it'll pause your working time etc etc. It's far easier to either leave on Other Work for 10-20-30 mins whilst you wait to be tipped or whatever, then put it on break when you actually know what's happening. But every truck driver has their own way of doing things, if you are comfortable with POA then crack on matey.
I hope that people realise The requirement for drivers to keep records for 28 days is changing to 56 days as of 31st December 2024. and The requirement to have a tachograph fitted is being extended to include goods vehicles of 2.5t - 3.5t gvw on international hire & reward from July 2026. But as far as I am aware, no 'O' license or international CPC or driver's CPC is required.
Will come in handy when I can finally get my class one done.cheers covid 19 for putting that on hold currently identify as a road sweeper so exempt from taco 👍love the vlogs
Excellent video. Thank you. So, say you've been in a small van Monday to Thursday, then Friday you're in the truck, you can't put the previous 4 days start and finish times on the tacho, you can only put the previous day's hours on it, like you did here? Do I get that right?

(most WTD infringements are in the second six hours of a duty)
Look forward to the next installment, keep safe and well.
Good luck for the future, Regards, Chris.
I hope that people realise
The requirement for drivers to keep records for 28 days is changing to 56 days as of 31st December 2024.
and
The requirement to have a tachograph fitted is being extended to include goods vehicles of 2.5t - 3.5t gvw on international hire & reward from July 2026. But as far as I am aware, no 'O' license or international CPC or driver's CPC is required.
Will come in handy when I can finally get my class one done.cheers covid 19 for putting that on hold currently identify as a road sweeper so exempt from taco 👍love the vlogs
Hope you get it through fast mate! Good luck!
Brilliant explanation 😎
Thank you, only today I understood how to do this...
Excellent video. Thank you.
So, say you've been in a small van Monday to Thursday, then Friday you're in the truck, you can't put the previous 4 days start and finish times on the tacho, you can only put the previous day's hours on it, like you did here? Do I get that right?
No, you can go back ages. Just keep going back and back in days. No one would do this though, you need regular breaks and all that shit
@@Deady2012 So you can put in multiple days leading up to a day when you're actually in a truck?
The agency’s can pay you over 15 hours if you’ve been on poa. So you can do 15+ days of you admit to poa
I wish I saw this video when I started, made it sound so easy and I've been screwing my card up by doing manual entries wrong so much recently. Got a bag full of manual printouts now 🙄
Hahaha! It’s a pain at first. My mate did other work in a manual entry for a full weekend hahahahaha!
