- Hi All! In todays session of mixed media art journaling we are creating a variety of collage bundles. I thought it would be fun to sit down and create a bunch of elements from gelli printed, eco printed and scrap papers that we can use in our art journal when we are in need of or lacking inspiration!

Robyn, your collages are beautiful and watching you place the various pieces together is mesmerising. Each piece you finish just sings.
I love the idea of pre-making collaged elements for art journaling in all sizes-- large, medium and small! Also the idea of storing things in envelopes and when you get a certain number filled up, then sitting down and emptying them into these pre-made collages. It is such a wonderful way to have a continuous art practice, where you just sit down and if you don't feel inspired working one way--like making wall art or even art journaling, you can do something else like making these smaller collaged elements or making new collage elements with intuitive scripting/drawing, gelli printing, or eco-staining or -printing papers. There is so much to do and explore in all these modes on the way to discovering one's own unique style. Robyn, this is why you are one of my absolute favorite teachers! I know someone is a great teacher when their art makes me want to run over, sit down, and start making art myself.

I loved hearing you say NOT to glue the collage pieces all the way down at that stage. I do the same cuz you never know what might come into view and want to go there! I have received all my supplies now to get going with gelli printing, stenciling, all kinds of paints and inks and papers. You have really influenced to try this out!

I have been mentally working on a spread that in the back of my mind is about “beginning “. You provided me with the very best prompt, “Let the right brain have her way.” I can’t wait to letter that phrase and reflect on it in writing and every other art form I can think of. Gonna put on music, dance my way to the kitchen to start avocado dying over some architectural and survey renderings from the 1960’s, play with calligraphy, and dig through my scraps. Have a brilliant day-PAX.

I always like creating intuitive collages with scraps, I guess because I have so many! I started doing these after watching Cori Dahmen on her channel Creating with scraps. I also started my whole creative journey with miniature watercolours, so making small artworks is in my blood.
And lord knows with the amount of Gel prints we create and accumulate we need to find many purposes for them!! :)

Hi Robyn, I loved watching this 'Intuitive Collage' process! I'm fired to make more papers! And thinking this I'm laughing. When staying at my mother-in-law's and doing daily postcard collages, I said 'I really want to make more collage papers. Her immediate comment was, 'You've got more than enough papers already!' She's lovely, but not creative and thinks anything that's not realism in art is pretty much a waste of time. Oh well. Onward and upward!

Hi Robyn! I'm still out here! I owe you a letter explaining my absence soon, but Steve and I are both fine. I really enjoyed today's class! Last summer I took classes from Louise Fletcher in Intuitive Abstract painting. My goal is to combine it with the Intuitive Collage I've studied with you! Today Louise posted a newsletter about her exploring gelli printing, making her own papers to combine with collage into her paintings! I'm sending her your info. She will love your work! I'm out here lurking when I can.
INTUITIVE COLLAGE was so hard when I started due to not wanting to tear things up. This was a big beginner hurtle to overcome.
I like this concept, although my palette is way different from yours. It's funny that a lot of your decisions are opposite from mine, but since there are no wrong answers, it's OK.
