  • GARDEN VLOG #5 | On this episode I go to Northern California to tour (2) awesome 10 acre homesteads in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. You will see what is like to live in this area. I encounter bears, deer, indians, biochar and more. Many people want to escape the city life and have some open space to Grow food, enjoy outdoors and nature, generate their own electricity, have clean well water to drink and water garden with. In the Sierra Nevada mountains and foothills is a great place to set up an off grid lifestyle. I will show you what is like to live here from the lower elevation to highest elevation of the Sierra Nevada mountains. From the foothills of Folsom lake to Lake Tahoe Squaw Valley ski resort. I discover Indian grindstones carved into the granite rocks where they would grind acorns into a meal to make bread and make tea from wild flowers. This trip was eye opening to see how diverse California can be and the history behind it. I also visit the iconic spot Anderson's restaurant to get there famous split pea soup they are known for. Healthy and vegan soup you should get if you are driving either North or South on Hwy 5.

The first one looked like it was in Cool, Ca. Or lower Nevada county area. Second was definitely up in the TNF area. Both beautiful places but the foothills are a lot easier to homestead in.

I love both areas! Hoping to buy some land in one of these areas this year to start my homestead 🙂

I was once in a garden on an island.
On poles along the herb garden hung fabric bags of human hair collected at the local hairdresser.
The smell from the hairs was said to keep the deer away.
The hairs were replaced at regular intervals.

I can't imagine any hairdresser is willing to give someone human hair harvested from their customers.

Those blackberry are actually very invasive. They are Himalayan blackberries, and not native. The local tribes, assuming you were around folsom, are Maidu and Nissanan

Oh really, that is interesting I did not know they were non native. Although the berries are very tasty. Yes the do spread and can take over an area over some years.

Life would be so much better for everyone if we left cities and "society" behind permanently and all started living on our own homesteads. Too bad people aren't smart enough to figure this out and would rather be slaves to an uncaring and evil system that keeps them subjugated by pleasure.
