  • Tools for boat repair and how we avoided a disaster on the water when our impeller became plugged with mud and dirt.
    Most boaters carry a spare prop, but do you have a spare prop nut, washers and cotter pins?
    Do you have the essential tools to repair issues with your boat on the water?
    Every boat is different and every motor requires different tools, get to know what you might need for your rig and be prepared on the water.
    Planning a trip to Canada? Many lakes in Northwestern Ontario are remote, and cell coverage can be spotty. Plan ahead by bringing some spare items with you.
    Spare prop and hardware.
    Fuel filters for your application.
    Fuses and connectors to fix wiring issues.
    Tools to cover the most common sizes you need on your boat.
    Unsure how to change a prop? Stop at your local marine shop and ask the tech to show you. Get to know how to change the fuel filter, if applicable. All valuable things to know.
    Knowing how to repair an impeller was invaluable for us on this particular Musky opener.
    Don't get caught on the water without a simple tool kit.

    Great info. I probably take to much. I got it if I need it!
    It's all fun and games until!
    Memories of being 15 miles from camp. With a broken prop shaft. Not fun.

    Do you find the need to go up to a 1/2" dr for your ratchet and socket tools, or is 3/8" fine enough?

      Thanks for watching Jaymes, I have 3/8 drive for the boat. For the most part you shouldn't need anything bigger. I think we will revisit this one in the near future.
