Power BI is a tool by Microsoft that let's you connect to various data sources (Excel files, xml/json, databases, webservices,...) and use that data to create interactive dashboards in just a few clicks. It cannot, out of the box, visualize 3D models. That is the part we added, with 3DBI you are able to bring in any SketchUp model (or Revit) into Power BI and use the data that is there to colorize and filter objects in that 3D model. In this video it is a warehouse, but it could also have been a collection of rooms in a building where you use IoT sensor data to colorize and filter rooms, or parts of a machine that are highlighted based on when they require maintenance, ... The goal is to add spatial insight to data, so you can see what is where.
Hi, if you can bring your 3D model into SketchUp, you could then use our custom 3DBI for SketchUp extension to bring it from there into Power BI: kg-dev.be/project/3dbi-for-sketchup/
You could use conditional formatting to achieve that. More information can be obtained here: kg-dev.be/2022/11/17/new-feature-conditional-formatting-in-3dbi/
Hi, thank you for your message. The following tutorial handles in depth about this type of workflow: kg-dev.be/2021/08/16/how-to-custom-3d-power-bi-visual-of-a-warehouse/
Hi, thank you for your message. The steps needed to get this visual in Power BI are described in the following tutorial: kg-dev.be/2021/08/16/how-to-custom-3d-power-bi-visual-of-a-warehouse/
You get the best performance when you keep geometry as abstract as possible. For example, the following report contains roughly 30.000 objects while still performing well: app.powerbi.com/view?r=eyJrIjoiZDcwZjg0NmUtY2EyMS00OGQ3LWJjYjAtYWQ3ZTY2YWM5YmUzIiwidCI6ImFlYzBjYTkzLTc5MGEtNDU0MC05NjY3LWI2ODdmNjViNGNkZCIsImMiOjl9
Hi, yes, you can follow the steps from the following tutorial to create a custom model suitable for your needs; kg-dev.be/2021/08/16/how-to-custom-3d-power-bi-visual-of-a-warehouse/ Or, we can also create the model for you and help you getting started with Power BI. Please feel free to reach out if you want us to create the model and dashboard for you.
Hi, Always start right to left. If the last character of your location is 1, 2, 3 then first make 3 pallets (or other objects) and assign a 1, 2 and 3 as their ID. Then group them en duplicate them as per the second set of characters (1...12 for example) and assign those IDs to each group of pallets. You can learn more about it here: kg-dev.be/2021/08/16/how-to-custom-3d-power-bi-visual-of-a-warehouse/
Please find a step-by-step tutorial as well as related data on the following page: kg-dev.be/2021/08/16/how-to-custom-3d-power-bi-visual-of-a-warehouse/
I know nothing about Power BI, but this looks pretty cool!

Great video, inspired me! Which SketchUp license did you used for this?
Only SketchUp Pro is capable of loading extensions, which 3DBI for SketchUp is.
I have idea to import 3D solids from mining planning software and import them in Power Bi with production data, but I don't know how to do this

That might be possible. The benefit of 3DBI is that it runs in Power BI, which gives you the possibility to load and display any data you have.
