  • Picked up another 5.3 from local classifieds. I definitely want to start keeping a lot of different stuff in stock. Feel free to reach out with whatever LS platform you’re looking for. Chances are I’ll either have it or can get it very quickly.

    Its honestly a piss off that you work soooo hard and not get the recognition you truly deserve. While others can be fake and get everything. Keep it up man! Keep up the updates more frequently 🏁🏁🏁

      No kidding! The wealth of Knowledge that Travis has is awe inspiring! I know A LOT! People are ALWAYS coming to me for advice and answers to questions, especially car related questions, but this dude is on a wholly different level!!! He’s definitely helped me up my junkyard game by 200% or more! I’m making more money, and faster, using the tips and tricks he has shown us in his badass videos! Thank you, Brother! Truly!

    You should mount some factory coil pack “rails” to your stand. Then you can mount your choice of coils to them. Make a pair of “extension harnesses to supply power/signal to the packs. Use longer plug wires (such a the wire sets that are intended for relocating your coil packs in an engine bay). Good to go! That’ll save you some time!

      The coil pack brackets hold on with a single bolt. They’re very fast to take on and off. Longer wires would just be a pain.

    Same as me... 5.3s aren't worth it haha. But if I found one pulled and cheap I might lol. Local you pull yard has an LY6 sitting there for a month now and nobody has touched it short of the throttle body. I don't want it but if it's there still this weekend I don't think I can walk past it anymore lol. One caveat... I guarantee it's no good. Still... it's like 300 bucks complete lol

    • @travisblack417
      @travisblack417  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      As long as there’s not a hole in the block it’s worth it for $300. I actually just looked at an ls3 a guy was selling oddly cheap. I get down there and flip the motor over, there’s a rod going straight through the water jacket. Both valve faces and the piston were straight up missing.

    • @LSswapGarage1
      @LSswapGarage1 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@travisblack417Yeah if the 823s are okay I might get 300 back from the heads. Since it's an old construction company truck that appears to have sat for a good deal of time prior to hitting the yard my guess is a rod bearing lol. No collision damage or anything on the truck obviously. Could be like another LY6 I got where the guy drove it a couple hundred miles knocking and wore about an eighth inch step in the crank on number one rod bearing lol. I just find it odd that all the other gen iv stuff that came in with this truck is either missing the engine or at least the 243/799 heads but this one just sits there haha.

      @travisblack417  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you pull the valve covers it should be readily apparent if a valve or seat dropped and took out either the block or the head.

      @@travisblack417Naw. I pull the drain plug and shove a pen magnet in it. If it comes out metal soup it's fairly definitive. Got an LQ4 a while ago that was stupid clean on the top end and still had done a number one rod bearing delete. I quit buying LS's because the market here is non existent but sometimes I like hoarding more stuff lol

    I’m trying to build a run stand similar to your setup. The engine is a L59 from a 02 Suburban. Can you help me out with the wiring. I don’t know if you have a video of your run stand, but I really could use help with this project, thanks for your videos.
