Ironically, this strategy would not work on a sociopath who knows no horror or remorse. In fact, it would make things worse by having the enemy go from objective neutrality to giddy ecstasy.
Cybermen need leaders. With leaders they will be upgraded more and more. Without one cybermen would be a hive without a queen. Looking for another leader.
Nope, these were the lumic cybermen that were sucked into the void in Doomsday, then spit back out during The Stolen Earth when the walls between universes broke down.
Never got how Miss Hartigan could destroy the Cybermen like that since the Doctor SEVERED THE CONNECTION THAT ALLOWED HER TO DO THAT!!! Also, he said it opened her mind but she was disturbed even BEFORE the Cybermen. I think it was indicated she suffered some kind of abuse that led to that.
He severed the connection that allowed the Cyberman to have brainwashed her originally. She was still harnessed into the Cyberking though, and was therefore still linked to the Cybermen themselves, allowing her to destroy them
It is hinted often throughout this episode that she may have been sexually abused in the past. A lot of her comments to men and even the Cybermen is almost sexual in nature. She even as I recall says to the doctor "another man who forces himself against me in the night" when the doctor faces her.
anyone else think the cybermen were better and more scary in the tenth doctor age, than they end up being with the new design for the 11th and 12th doctors
They were good again in World Enough and Time, probably better than they had been since the revival started but the Doctor Falls swapped out the scary ones for the generic 11 ones. Pity.
That wouldn't make sense, the episode explains he thought he was the doctor because of a backfired information thingy, Steven Moffat would never allow it
Well, it can all be explained it's like saying Capaldi couldn't become doctor because he was already in Fire's of Pompeii or Amy couldn't be a companion unless she was another impossible girl because she was in the same episode as capaldi.... and not only that but remember just because David Morrissey was a pretend doctor doesn't mean the Doctor couldn't use that face as an incarnation.. Tom Baker did say You'd be visiting familiar faces not just the favorites of course thatbeing paraphrased.
***** You make some great points. I would personally have a probably seeing the man who played, "The Governor," from TWD as an iconic sci-fi hero. I guess that's why they call it acting.
Always thought it was strange to end it with a fight with a giant Cyberbot in the middle of the city in the 19th century. Wouldn't that kind of thing make the papers? Could I go to the library and find an old issue of the London Times where a giant robot rampaged through London on Christmas eve that one time? They do explain that later on, of course. So glad that the Doctor stayed for Christmas dinner.
On the plus side, it could explain where a certain science-fiction author got part of his inspiration for a similar (fictional) extraterrestrial invasion of 19th century Great Britain. :D
Ah yes :great moment from a time when the revival was at its peak( well, apart from the convenient wiping out of the cybermen by high emotions-next stop killing them all with a daddy's love).
I mean, emotional inhibitor chip breaking has consistently been the weakness of the rebooted cybermen, when exposed to their full human emotions they are driven to electronic suicide quickly & consistently
During the battle of Trenzalore in the 50th special I would have loved to see some CyberKing's getting dropped into the battle from orbit. That would have been so cool to me.
Antony D'Andrea if i understand, i believe its when she realized what she done and who she is, she had a mental break down. in a future episode when the robots get their souls back, they too have that break down. she controlled them. so they all sort of blew up. just a guess though.
"What do you make of ME, sir? An IDIOT??!!" "No....the question is 'What do You make of ME'?" "DESTROY HIM!!" "You made me into this." God I love this dialogue.
Jackson Lake: He's killed it! Whatever he's did HE'S KILLED IT!! Rosita: But it's gonna fall!! Everyone: AARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!! *Everyone starts running as fast as they could.*
Miss Hartigan‘s family would‘ be so ashamed of her for selling out the Earth to the Cybermen, though she helped destroy them after the Doctor freed her mind from their control and destroyed herself in the process.
Does anyone else recognize Miss Hartigan from a different Doctor Who episode or is it just me? I tried looking elsewhere and as far as I can see the actress only appeared on the show once. Please tell me there's someone out there who is as crazy as I am and remembers her.
This is the same man who keeps trying to wipe out the Daleks. Besides, the Cybermen are unique in that they will be reborn somewhere. Parallel evolution baby
2:14 That's a pretty novel way to defeat someone. Blasting them with the opening credits.
Lol
Haha
The doctor, apologizing to people professionally since lord knows
Time Lord knows*
Tumbleflop was literally about to comment the same thing😂😂😂
Same
He may be quintessentially British, but the Doctor must be part Canadian.
'He killed it! But it's gonna fall!'
No, it's going to sit down, eat a snickers and then fly away on a unicorn.
A potato lol I was thinking just that
A potato HE KILLED IT, AND THEN HES GONNA KILL ME! OH MY GOOOOOOOOD!
A potato XD
Dude.....
Or it could drink a red bull and fly away
1:15 miss hartigan sounds like my kettle.
Lol! her crown looks like my Kettle handle
RandomGaming o
Not my name lol
Your kettle can destroy Cybermen?
this made me laugh so much omg lmao
I think this is the first time in tv history I've seen the people scared of falling robots. (I.e., Power Rangers)
They fight in the abandoned cardboard-warehouse district.
Are the warehouses MADE of cardboard, or FULL of it?
Yes.
Ironically, this strategy would not work on a sociopath who knows no horror or remorse. In fact, it would make things worse by having the enemy go from objective neutrality to giddy ecstasy.
Has someone just learned something at school?
CrusaderZav Not really. It's pure common sense.
booklover Considering the nature of your response, I'm going to take that as a yes.
CrusaderZav
What's the nature of my response, then? It's elementary knowledge.
I like term giddy ectasy :D
0:11 *hair trembles with emotion*
Awwww your avatar is cute ^^
So she killed the Cybermen by screaming.
Achievement unlocked (20G)
Trouble with her is the noise
Ad Shield made my day 😆😆😆
The scream killed cybermen while bass boosted music killed the big one
It was lucky that she'd seen the "Hush" episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Lol Xbox jokes 👍❤️😀🤣🤣🤣
I burst out laughing when that happened.
So much for John lumic (converted) saying "we will remove class" when all these cyberman say all hail the cyber king ?
Different Cybermen
Nope they are the same ones
Cybermen need leaders. With leaders they will be upgraded more and more. Without one cybermen would be a hive without a queen. Looking for another leader.
Van Oscuro They even have the logo on the chest
Nope, these were the lumic cybermen that were sucked into the void in Doomsday, then spit back out during The Stolen Earth when the walls between universes broke down.
Dunno why, but it made me super happy to see people cheer for the doctor and for him to be a little surprised/ very slightly awkward about it
2:54 This was a wonderful moment. It made me tear up. "Bravo Sir! Bravo!"

He severed the connection to the emotional inhibitor, and her clear of emotions mind destroyed the cybermen through a cascading failure
@@robland3253 A "resonance cascade" eh? Yeah, I don't have good experiences with those.
*Black Mesa Flashbacks*
In today's world people would take selfies with the Cybermen.
...pretty sure they'd be too busy running away in terror as they're killing people through electric shocks.
+SuperVoltProductions
No, Sky Jr.'s right. Just look at some of the newer episodes with Capaldi.
+Joshua Fogg Oh, wow... sorry.
I still think the idea's pretty dumb.
Bronze Panda So true
Bronze Panda they did. and the cybermen attack
It's weird now looking at David Morrissey being a heroic character after he played The Governor haha
Glad you pointed that out. Now I will never unsee it.
Don’t forget David Tennant played the manipulative rapist Killgrave in Jessica Jones.
anyone else think the cybermen were better and more scary in the tenth doctor age, than they end up being with the new design for the 11th and 12th doctors
In 11 and 12 they look like they're smiling
The Tenth Planet's Cybermen is more scarier.
And they are returning for Series 10
They were good again in World Enough and Time, probably better than they had been since the revival started but the Doctor Falls swapped out the scary ones for the generic 11 ones. Pity.
If they swapped out the asylum of the Daleks to the asylum of the cyberman, then we might have had that fear still in play.
Is anyone else in love with Jackson Lake's outfit?
*"reEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"*
-Miss Hartigan, 2009
David Morrissey should become the next Doctor after Capaldi come on people lets get a petition going!
Skylar Lee You make total sense and you are totally right!.
***** You make some great points. I would personally have a probably seeing the man who played, "The Governor," from TWD as an iconic sci-fi hero. I guess that's why they call it acting.
actorben I agree.
Always thought it was strange to end it with a fight with a giant Cyberbot in the middle of the city in the 19th century. Wouldn't that kind of thing make the papers? Previous Cybermen forms detected. Cybermen will be upgraded.
Upgrade in progress
+Cyberman Hey suckaz I'm not uprgaded! Nya! =P
Tech-heresy detected. Suspected men of iron manufacture in progress. Standard heretek response protocols in effect. Praise the Omnissiah.
I absolutely love this scene! Bravo sir! Bravo!!
I love the Russel T Davis era running around screaming
Probably my favorite scene in the entire show's history.
Ah yes :great moment from a time when the revival was at its peak( well, apart from the convenient wiping out of the cybermen by high emotions-next stop killing them all with a daddy's love).
Hari Seldon oy. Don't offend Stormageddon
I mean, emotional inhibitor chip breaking has consistently been the weakness of the rebooted cybermen, when exposed to their full human emotions they are driven to electronic suicide quickly & consistently
Still better than Love And Monsters.
not by much
Everything's better than Love And Monsters
I like that episode honestly
Ending made me tear up... Bravo, Doctor. Bravo.
The Doctor left with his Tardis after defeating the Cybermen, and soon the people looked up to the "Doctor" as the new town Governor....
Stephen Yang And later lead the resistance against the machines under the name "John Conner."
This is now cannon in my mind. XD
1:28 Looks like the special effects budget ran out - that was just really awful looking.
+Giovanni Magnus It was for TV, Their budgets are not as high as most movies nowadays.
+LeanneVlogzFilmz
Yet they can still afford some pretty impressive practical effects and sets for a TV show like this.
"Has he ever been thanked?" whelp, now he has :D
Still love popping back to see this again.
Imagine this scene with Peter Capaldi...
The Noobtuber
Nothing but attack eyebrows
+The Noobtuber He would not be sorry.
The Noobtuber now that would be CLASS
He would attack eyebrow dat bitch.
Theyneverknow what are you on about?
Something to wet your whistle for the coming 2 shows? Nicely done!
Never get tired of watching that scene from the Christmas Special
During the battle of Trenzalore in the 50th special I would have loved to see some CyberKing's getting dropped into the battle from orbit. That would have been so cool to me.
He just said he broke the cyber connection, so why do they all blow up when she start screaming....
Antony D'Andrea if i understand, i believe its when she realized what she done and who she is, she had a mental break down. in a future episode when the robots get their souls back, they too have that break down. she controlled them. so they all sort of blew up. just a guess though.
+GreenyTheGamer But she did not connect to them
Antony D'Andrea She is still connected to the Cyberking which means she was still connected to the Cybermen.
They couldn't cyber anymore. They had to be blown, she thought she could do it by screaming, and she was right, kinda!
even though the connection was broken, she was still transmitting to the collective that had placed her at its forefront; at its "heart".
The music in this scene is phenomenal
where was jenny, vastra and strax?
it took place in the 1850s
They Not Created Yet By Steven Moffat!
In the show he means. In Deep Breath, they are around the same timeline.
This one time they let Strax choose the destination of their vacation, and it was the Moon.
Ábel Farkas
Sounds like one heck of a Friday Night.
i watched that scream over and over and its in my bloody head
One of the coolest dr who scenes ever
Oops! I's not Christmas, classic classic.
2:41
Thank you Captain Exposition!
"What do you make of ME, sir? An IDIOT??!!"
"No....the question is 'What do You make of ME'?"
"DESTROY HIM!!"
"You made me into this."
God I love this dialogue.
1:00 look at the Cyberman just turning and 20 seconds they look at nothing lol
Bravo, Doctor... Bravo.
The Doctor: Hates killing, but passively kills people through his actions
Jackson Lake: He's killed it! Whatever he's did HE'S KILLED IT!!
Rosita: But it's gonna fall!!
Everyone: AARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
*Everyone starts running as fast as they could.*
"BRAVO SIR BRAVO SIR" -city still burning
The cyberking spends a lot of time having spasms before falling. Convenient.
see the appearance of the time vortex
yes!
+JUSTIN “JUSTINtheTRAIN” O.K. well yes
JUSTIN O.K. Yes!
finally the Doctah gets some well deserved gratitude.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Scream and you explode? DW LOGIC
xXDreamWithAnimeXx * She was connected to the Cyberking so she was connected to the Cybermen.
Looks like the Doctor got his Christmas wish after all.
God this was over a decade ago now, makes you feel old, doesn't it?
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
Miss Hartigan‘s family would‘ be so ashamed of her for selling out the Earth to the Cybermen, though she helped destroy them after the Doctor freed her mind from their control and destroyed herself in the process.
ayone notice how the cybermen and daleks insist to have emotions in that season and the next...
1:23 oh hey rebecca parham singing
Amazing plot!
and so the legend of father Christmas was born, all in the same night!
Classics are still the best ;)
1:22 girls when it's that time of the month
oh yes!
when they applauded him i cried
1:22 WARNING HEADPHONE USERS WITH FULL VOLUME
bravo doctor, bravo
that face at 3:27 it's like he''s saying "What the heck is that noise?"
the music playing from the beginning of this scene until the Cyberking disappears, where can I find it?
When you have to be strapped into your own 'throne', I think that's a warning sign to say that you're not gonna want the job after a while :P
Anybody know the name of the track that plays from 0:08 to 0:042? Or is it one of those unreleased tracks?
At 1:30 the dress explodes and... MAGIC ! It vanishes...
the cyberking is 160 meters, if you didn't know... the biggest robot to ever exist!
If Moffat had written this episode then he would have made it so that the Cyber thing would never had existed... Oh wait.
Only the Doctor can create what is, in all intents and purposes, a shotgun that literally fires time at things.
Does anyone else recognize Miss Hartigan from a different Doctor Who episode or is it just me? I tried looking elsewhere and as far as I can see the actress only appeared on the show once. Please tell me there's someone out there who is as crazy as I am and remembers her.
U.N.D.Y.S. Productions I remember her too. I think she was an extra in season 1, not quite sure though!
[hair trembles with emotion]
This is the first time ever that David Morrissy has been a good guy
Jeff The Killer after this, the next Doctor built Woodbury, got his eye damaged by a certain someone, and became a psycho. He became the Govenor.
I can imagine before this ecene ending the doctor saying hye like the attention in a sweet voice
So the cyber connection was broken, but she still manages to dispatch all the cybermen... somehow.
bravo sir
December 14th... That's Ciel Phantomhive's birthday
He's never flown a hot air balloon before... Shouldn't he be wondering how to get back down?
If he didn’t destroy it, could you imagine the British empire with hundreds of giant robots?
Can I get a BRAVO, SIR!!!
1:23 ...will always love you
1:07-1:14 ryhmes
It's a Cyberman Megazord
These google ads are just SOOO annoying.
Merry Christmas from the BBC, your favorite Doctor is dead!
It wasn't disintegrated, it was sent into the time vortex to get torn apart by its energies
finally! Jackson's right. All most no one thanks the doctor.
1:31 when I hear people being really loud.
Ahhh, back when Doctor Who was actually good.
you wot
I mean, its definitely different, but that doesnt mean its bad
***** Alright, keep your hair on. It's just my opinion.
+Randen Sim no the terrible writing does that
This is 20 years after Doctor Who was actually good.
but the armour does have robotic parts that would be disbled, leaving the dalek immobile
2:13 Behind the scenes of the Doctor Who intro
2:15
DOCTOR WHO THEME!
The Doctor rants on so much about how wrong genocide is.
What the hell is this then?
MinecraftPro15 This is like 5 months old...
In the words of the cult of scaro... Pest control
This is the same man who keeps trying to wipe out the Daleks. Besides, the Cybermen are unique in that they will be reborn somewhere. Parallel evolution baby
I was gonna say pest control but someone else got there before me. At least a lot of us were thinking this is pest control though.
Wait, did they rescue all the Children from the Cyber Factory, or did he just banish a few hundred children to die?
1:28 earrape
1:10 You are not
Oh, he is. He always is.
What's the soundtrack used at 0:17 ?
oh he explained it
I don't get why she freaked out and self destructed
