Nice fish!! The shallows are working here as well this time of year. I'm starting to like these havens from the go fast boats. I can get my 1654 Tracker up into the skinny water without a problem. I watched a bass boat fly across a bar the other day and scrape his outdrive across the mud. He almost went over his console. The bar was clearly visible. You can't fix stupid. Maybe next time he'll pay attention. Back in my Navy days I learned that you never go faster than you are willing to hit an unseen object in the water. Some have to learn the hard way.
Hello Dave. great fish. I had a couple of things I wanted to mention. Might make things easier for you or save you some cash in the future. When you get a fish in the net, click that release button so you don'r put a lot of stress on your rod tip. Second and maybe more important. In the hot summer, that boat paint gets really hot. It will screw up a cell phone if left laying in the open on it. I had one that got so hot it caused the battery to swell and pushed the screen away from the case. I noticed you are always fighting with your landing net. Since you are landing your fish on that same side each time, you ought to mount yourself some of those $5 pole mount clips under the top rail of the boat. You can clip your net into it that way it is easily accessible, secure, and out of the way. Great video! Thanks

Good video....i notice you fish Melton hill.....I love Melton Hill simply because that were I was raised up fishing and I know the coves and the waters pretty well but I was also told that it is not a catfish lake so now trying to find the catfish lakes
What do you use for a boat Dave? I've always fished from the bank, but now that I have a little money coming in I'd like to get one without breaking the bank. Hooked onto my biggest blue cat ever today in a feeder creek to the main lake, 30 pounds at least and broke off right when I got it to the bank. Never thought to catch a fish that big need to get a net!

One of these days you are going to lose your net holding it by the chin. Look up carp fishing supplies for a net float you can attach to the handle to keep it floating if it falls into the river.

Melton Hill is a make you or break you lake. The best video I ever made was on Melton Hill Lake. Look up my video called "Thankful For Catfish".
