Dellortos are great; I’ve had a set since 2005 and they are almost plug and play. Also having a nice vacuum advance distributor makes a difference in the smoothness.
For sure! The carbs I was pulling off were definitely more of an off/on feeling the ripped but never calmed down.... the fact that I've had this fuel tank issue for who knows how long hasn't helped keep anything in tune at all....
I searched everywhere for the 56' style hump tank and seems like everyone makes the earlier style and the later style tanks but no one makes the 56' style..... This one got sent out twice 2 the rad shop 2 be cleaned and it looks pretty good but I'm still questioning it.....
Glad you found the need to clean the tank before putting those beauties on there. Side note. Is that clamp on the alternator an original type? It looks more modern to me, and I have very little T1 experience.
Yeah this one got cleaned by a rad shop like 5-6 times and no liner on it back in...... I found a tag on the tank from when it was done probably 30+ years ago so that liner was done! And the ethanol was just eating it up....

Definitely need to replace the tank, not sure if it’s worth the effort to clean the existing tank and deal with this again down the road.
