That bridge at 2:40 is genuinely one of my favorite sequences in music ever. I remember the first time I ever heard this song I replayed the bridge, as well as the bit where it leads back into the main riff, so many times.
I'm convinced Andrew York is the only person alive who could write such a perfectly self contained and realized piece for the guitar. Even among his output which I have loved for nearly 30 years this piece is a high point.
This composition almost sounds like this weird dance between you and the guitar. It's almost like this composition is an extension of your personality. It's kind of meditative. I can listen to it over and over and I never get bored. It's like you're expressing yourself and it's beautiful. It's kind of like the guitar is part of who you are and you're just trying to share that with everyone.
I love almost everything from Andrew York, but Yamour is a special thing for me, played on Antonio de Torres "La Italica" with its dry sound is amazing.
listening this brings me fond memories of a master class I took with you almost 8 years ago now in baja. you were kind enough to spend almost an hour and a half going through the entirety of woven harmony with me for my upcoming graduation recital. truly an unforgettable learning experience for me. thank you for all this wonderful music.
I don't even know how to express myself to tell you how much I appreciate and love this song. I know you have decades worth of experience behind you but this song shows your God given talent.❤ 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Andrew York's music is so peaceful, sweet, spiritual, and absolutely gorgeous. I love all of his compositions, especially Yamour. His music reminds me of driving up to Vermont in the Summer. Great guitarist too!
Ah, the man with many hats! Your music is an absolute joy and fills my home daily and the disc Yamour is truly something - Albaycín means much to my ears. Thank you Mr. York for your lifelong givings and all are truly loved. Now, for my likings, can you send me one of your great hats, and send a guitar too, and that shirt. 😁 Thank you so much for your amazing work., much gratitude.
Freddy, your message made me laugh, and thanks for your nice words. Hats are handmade by my wife, so can't help you there! And I think I'll keep my shirt on.
The clarity of your playing is fantastic. Every single note is articulated well and heard clearly, with almost zero squeaks when you shift and slide. That is absolute mastery of technique.
It is always an event for me to hear you play and I really appreciate you posting these videos for us all to appreciate your artistry. Thank you Andrew, you offer real comfort in strange times.
Andrew, you're already a part of my "island list." That is, if ever I get stranded on an island and can only bring my favorite composers to listen to, your name will be there along with Bach and Paco de Lucía. Sincerely, Carlo.
Im an acoustic fingerstyle player and I play the electric guitar. Listening to you play makes me wanna go and buy me a classical guitar. Your fingers and guitars produce a lovely tone. Very soothing Andrew
No matter how bad I am feeling about things, this song always lifts. Thank you so much for sharing this gift with the world, and all your other music! It means so much.
Watching this for probably the 20th time or something like that, and wow! You are so good! I bought a Cordoba C5 Cedar Top, and I've started learning this song by slowing down the video to half speed (cause I can't read sheet music). I respect and admire your skills on the guitar which are honed into something nearing complete perfection. But I also really respect and admire your skills in songwriting. I'd love to be able to write something so beautiful and poignant one day. I looked up the definition of poignant to make sure it was the right word, and it says, "evoking a keen sense of sadness or regret," which I feel this song really does! I'm 24 years old and I'm super inspired by you as an artist and musician. I would say that I wish you were more famous, just because I think more people could benefit from your beautiful songs, and also because I think you deserve a high level of recognition and success. But also, there's something nice about the fact that this video doesn't have millions of views. Usually, what appeals to most people does not appeal to me. And I think it feels good to find a person like you, so skilled, so practiced, so dedicated to the songs you create, making beautiful music and responding to so many of our comments (which I highly appreciate), and not doing it for fame or recognition or any of those meaningless things, but I can see that you're doing it because you love doing it, and I can relate to that motivation, and you're doing it so genuinely and purely. Usually, when I watch musicians whose skills are so much more refined than my own, I feel discouraged and like I'll never be able to do anything like that. But when I watch you play, I don't have that feeling as much. Instead, I feel more like I should enjoy the music as I listen and practice, being in the present moment. It feels like your youtube channel is a window that we can look into and see you playing music in a place in which you've obviously worked very diligently and patiently to create an atmosphere of calmness and peace. Thank you very much for creating this music and sharing it with us. I'm grateful to experience it.
that was pretty good. I was just before being so impressed with my elementary effort at playing a beginner song,,, but then I listened to this instead. very humbling. The song is very well done, with continuity in the harmony easily making me look for a looper pedal.
There is something so profoundly interesting about your music, Mr. York. Although music is subjective, and I enjoy all types of music, this is one of the most incredibly beautiful and expressive pieces of music I have ever heard, and you of course execute it so flawlessly. I am in awe. Tears of joy melt my face as I type this and listen. Your music manifests in a way, its like it was always meant to be, like you pluck these gems from the ether. I am at a point in life where I am being reinvigorated with joy and clarity after a long, dark and grief stricken period of depression, and rediscovering your music is like a humble gift sent from the universe, assuring me I am back on my proper path. I am so glad to see you are still making incredible music, and that it is aging like the finest wine. Thank you so much for the music and joyous energy you bring to this world.
I was also wondering if you have any vinyl for sale? I am having a hard time navigating your website, I'd like to support your music and play it at home! I also like to slow down the record to learn pieces by ear. :)
First, thank you for such a beautiful message. I'm profoundly moved with your depth of feeling and your response to Yamour. I'm very happy it has reached you so deeply. Second, though I do have two records on vinyl, they aren't available right now, sadly. Take care, Andrew
@@AndrewYorkguitar Thank you for the thoughtful reply. As a young guitar player, exploring many different styles and learning as much as possible, I viewed your music as challenging and impressive yet approachable and very logical but also very expressive. Now that I am getting older, it is very refreshing to see that you have built what appears to be a vibrant and rewarding life around your music. You continue to be an inspiration for musicians young and old, and an excellent role model for life in general.
Andy, this piece touched me deeply. Still missing my beloved Paul La Rose. You are somehow powerfully connecting the major elements of life: emotion, connectedness to a spiritual realm (what ever that might mean for each individual) while fully anchored in the physical and intellectual, bridging past and present as well as countries in your compositional style, and of course your impeccable guitar skills. Thank you for sharing this beautiful pieces with us!
Amazing piece that is! For me, your physical expressions in the play are always one vital part to the experience. Your music is alive, everyone who listens becomes gifted ❤️
Andrew, you are my favourite modern composer! Yamour and Adency are for me like hormonious feast - I love these two pieces to bits and never get tired of listening to them (as well as trying to play them). I also find it amazing that you take the time to answer every single comment on your channel! This speaks volumes about what kind of person you are! Wish you muse and harmony and please keep enriching this world with your music. Take care!

I noticed at about 5:55 there's a fade out of effects? Or something that lead to the quiet fade of just the guitar and that was absolutely gorgeous and well thought out. Beautiful piece.
I so appreciate all the videos you have uploaded during this difficult year! Enough for a new album. "Isolation," or "Solitude," or...well, there must be a bad pun that fits. Seriously though, these have helped ease the tension of the times.
