      For anyone interested: the steel that was laid between courses is intended for the outside of the wall, between aircrete and reinforced full strength concrete. It's doing nothing for the area it's used in this video.

    Well you did really well today…the clean up is a pain in butt…but it’s important… I hope you get it finished in time for the visit…it will be lovely with the windows in and nice and light…good that you cld fill cracks in facade of hse and windows… sealed them windows from water and snow in winter and you get a lot of snow…I have watched your videos from the beginning wen you came to hse…you had bought it without seeing it and I watched you walk from room to room and I look at how far you have come….pat yourselves on your backs kids as you have done an amazing job so far…David you can turn your hand to anything….and now kids your doing extension on your property…a mud room fir you to come into so you can keep your hse clean. I am so proud of you both..❤

    Since you live in the countryside, I'd suggest you try to use cobb. (sand, dirt, clay, straw) since the ground already has clay, sand and dirt, you just need to use straw.
    Afterwards, you have to seal, but it's not hard (look it up, the technique is called adobe, is moroccoan)

    Nice work, it’s going to look so good with that high stone foundation!
    For us when you buy a pallet of aircrete they give you a bag of that special mortar too, I hope they’re not too expensive to buy separately in Latvia. I was wondering if you build the new bathroom above the mud room, how are you going to access it, is that a project that will happen when you rebuild your upstairs and connect via the attic or access it through the mud room?

    • @DoBeDiff
      @DoBeDiff  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah here they do that if you buy a full truck load but maybe some places give it also per pallet. It's quite cheap same as a bag of cement but does a lot more of course. The bathroom will be for upstairs so it will connect into the roof. Downstairs bathroom is good but it would be nice to have one upstairs as a private bathroom for master bedroom! 😊❤️

  • @doolin-yu7cl
    @doolin-yu7cl ปีที่แล้ว +5

    You guys are awesome, just a quick question, how are you going to secure the new walls to the old walls, I know just adding that glue stuff is not enough so are you drilling rebar into the old house and putting it under very 2 block layers? just curious? Keep up the unbelievable work guys, you are must see TV:)

    • @DoBeDiff
      @DoBeDiff  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      They will be together but also separate. Because of the lose rock foundation on the old house the new concrete foundation moves differently throughout the year. Basically hooking them together would destroy the house walls and full damage the bricks walls. We where told heavily against connecting the house with the extension by builders here. They can be separated and if a crack develops that will mean they move different when the ground freezes. We will use elastic sealant if a crack develops to but otherwise should be fine. The walls don't need the house to hold them up and there is no natural disasters that would ever move this house. We live in a peaceful place in that sense.

    I wonder which country your from? I've seen these blocks used before but mainly in eastern Europe , they look very easy to handle , use and cut compared to traditional concrete blocks used in my part of Europe. The cement fibre roof is something we would not see on many domestic buildings only commercial ones and farms.

      Yeah in Europe they get houses up in weeks with these blocks. Plus they are affordable. A house our size in just block cost with free mortar since you get a lot would be less than 10k to have a fully insulated walls up and then just roof framing on top. It's a great material! 😁

    What is the dimension of the block? Does it have any kind of wire inside it? Doesn't appear so from the way it cut with a saw which I LOVED!! Looks like you could do anything with the contour you want? Is the block expensive? Three questions in there if you wouldn't mind answering would be of great help.
