The Arturia MicroFreak V5 update: Sounds You Would Never Expect from a MicroFreak!

- Here is a video of me being amazed at various samples I have placed on my MicroFreak with the V5 firmware update.
The theme was created with authentic Minimoog samples placed on a MicroFreak and multitracked, and drums programmed on a Korg Triton Studio.

The device was already awesome but now it s a real beast....
Just downloaded and installed, incredible. Sampled some snippets of speech and started modulating the sample selection, looping and sequencing and the results are pleasingly insane. The variation and evolution over time can seem endless.
Woke up this morning to find that there was a new update, you were very quick to pull out a video. Loving your microfreak vids. Very helpful... pls do more ;-)

Nice, I have both the micro and minifreak. I've been considering selling the micro...but with this FW update that makes me reconsider. Hopefully they'll do this for the minifreak.

Here's something you missed! On the MF, you can assign the key/arp to the type nob at 100% and it will go through samples per key!

I wonder if it would be possible to record and use external samples via the vocoder mic that comes with the minifreak? or is only through external midi import?

Did you notice any down sampling when you imported your own loops? Also, is there anyway to load multiple samples at once?
To me, the samples sounded exactly like the originals! There is, however, no layering or multisamples. But you can load multiple samples simultaneously.

Can you apply a different sample to different keys? Doesn’t seem like it, but thought it would ask. Could make for an incredible drum machine if it could!
Well, I am grateful for what it does at all... so I'm not complaining... but yes, it would be cool to have sample zones or layering.
based on other videos it seems like you kinda can, since you can set sample selection to one of the three custom matrix slots and then apply keyboard modulation to it 🤯 each zone will be the same size and probably tricky to dial in right but it seems possible

But you STILL can’t update the ‘Freak over iOS, so my options are severely limited- spend a couple grand on a pc, or wait a few months and buy another ‘Freak, hopefully with v5 loaded. C’mon Arturia…
That's a unique problem that I don't think most people face? Not sure why Arturia would prioritize this by any stretch of the imagination.

could you not just go visit a friend with a windows machine and use that to do the update? I have owned both Macs and PCs in my time and it really is just swings and roundabouts.

Creates a vast range of new sonic possibilities for a synth that's already great and affordable.
Uploading samples into a synth was interesting 30 years ago. This function in microfreak is almost useless.
