Besides being an amazing dramatic actor, Ackles has incredible comic timing. When he and Padalecki do something funny on screen together, it's a joy to behold.
I am a huge Destiel fan, write it all the time, and still I think they shouldn't make Destiel canon until the show ends. The tension is dramatically interesting; the moment that Dean and Castiel resolve that tension -- even IF Ackles were to agree to it, and that's a huge IF -- the relationship becomes a thousand times more difficult for the show's writers to write interestingly. I'd love to see it happen in the show's last episode; if the show's last episode involves Dean's death (God forbid), well, death is no block to Cas having a relationship with anyone!
It's kind of sad if some view ONLY "pre-relationship tension" as worthy of being seen onscreen; it shdnt be that difficult to keep a couple's chemistry awesome while simultaneously fighting crime & such.. I mean, the only thing that would reeally change is them just (finally) saying "I love you" to each other & not having random hookups, with every minor character that comes along.. lol. But I personally thrive on all the "cuteness" and *G-rated* stuff, so.. thank goodness for "OTP's from Day One" like Nikita & Blindspot & a few other things. I understand that some of these things can be written off if you’re really desperate to be blind to the homoerotic subtext. But I cannot find a possible hetero explanation for Dean’s body language in a lot of these moments, but particularly from season 8 at 1:40. WHAT IS THAT???
