No it was never called halvening. That is not a word. It is, was and always will be HALVING.

Proven by the article - amongst other, but google it yourself - in Forbes and I quote the headline: "A Bitcoin Halvening is Two Years Away" article from 29 May 2018. And I think I saw it used too around the 2016 one. There's also Redits from 16 and Fin Times from 2020.
