    I gotta be honest, I never was into Japanese cars, I'm more of a domestic guy. I have become more appreciative of Japanese classic cars, because they are rare and are a piece of automotive history. Keep them, don't crush them.

    When I lived in Japan back in the late 80's and mid 90's with executives and yakuza guys sporting the President.

    Interesting that you chose the President, but even more interesting the reasoning. I keep seeing videos of people getting a Century, but as I am only casually aware of the cars, the first time I have heard that long-term owners are warning of parts and suspension issues. Understandable for such a limited production ultraluxury car not available new outside of Japan. I forgot how long that Nissan had made the second generation President. The transition from this to the Q45-based model in 1990 must have been a complete shock! It's fun how Japanese cars over the past several years have finally been embraced by the car (crazed) collecting world. The approach on its cars has always been fascinating. Like the mirrors....I'd like that as a set up on any car I drive. Enjoy being with the President!

    I'm impressed, especially since learning that it's a V8, not just a big 6. I hope you bring this north sometime so that I can inspect it in person!

    I see some 1980s Cadillac, a bit of Rambler and even a bit of Zil going on with that President. There's a few of these around here in NZ, but quite a few more Centurys but parts an issue. USD40K is way WAY more than what they are here too, you can get a Century here for US10 to 15 grand.

      I don't see Cadillac, but I do see ZIL and Rambler......but the ZIL was after the President so maybe you see President in the ZIL.

    Cool that you took the President. 😃
    But man how many Centurys do they have there? 😮Of course I´m for the President but I love how they kept the Century design for so long!
    What happened to the sound at around 6 minutes? Did you have to revoice that part?

    I bought a 1986 Toyota Century…. Great car, drives amazing. But can anyone refer me to where to find parts for it?!?! Pretty please 🙏

    • @OsbornTramain
      @OsbornTramain  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the only reason why I bought a Nissan President rather than the Toyota Century, I've heard how hard it is to source parts.

  • @HansGurke44
    @HansGurke44 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Is the parts situation any better for the President compared to the Century? I would have imagined it is just as bad

    • @OsbornTramain
      @OsbornTramain  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      no, not at all, they sold significantly more Presidents than Century. The V8 Engine used was the same used in Fork lifts. I have found many parts on ebay in different parts of the world.....it's also not as complicated of a vehicle as the Century. The Century faults usually are computer controls, electronics and window and AC systems as well as rust problems in the older models. non of that is an issue with the President.

    • @HansGurke44
      @HansGurke44 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@OsbornTramain Interesting, I was always a bit scared to import a Century because you can't even get new brake rotors and other wearing parts. But now that I looked, it seems to be the same for the President. Or did I not look hard enough? Engine parts seem to be available quite easily indeed.
      And for the complexity of the Century: the pre 1986 models don't have that electronically controlled suspension and transmission, so they should be a bit more reliable.

    Actually the President looks like a miniature Cadillac Brougham from the late 1970s

    • @OsbornTramain
      @OsbornTramain  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just don't see it at all....I don't see any resemblance to a Caddy of the late 70's? Caddies had tail fins and lots of chrome and padded vinyl roofs and wire wheel covers and white wall tires and stand up grill with a hood ornament full chrome front and rear bumpers....the only resemblance I see to a Caddy is that it had four wheels

    The gzg50 v12 century is the much beter car .. might be worth the wait and save up a bit more for a v12 . Parts are much more obtainable and it's a proven reliable car .

      @OsbornTramain  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, Today, now in day two of owning the President decided I want the more modern Century too, not the old Century, but the modern 25 year old car....I think it makes sense to get one that's a 1998 or 1999 in the next year or two, with all the bugs worked out..... a modern old car.

    ...arigato, hai,hai!!, Osborn...
    ...so, you too can look like the boss of the Yakuza's Yamaguchi-gumi crime family ..some of the principal purchasers of these uber-high-end Nissans and Toyotas..
    ...I recall seeing an older, early 60's model Century which had been fitted with fine hand made doilies, which acted... as seat covers, apparently this was the indicator of extreme wealth and prestige at the time...
    ...and as was the preference of Idi Amin and other despots and their 600 series "Grossers" ..it had curtains all around and a rear seat convertible to a bed...bulletproof windows and doors, too...
    ...I'm Godsmacked that parts are such an issue for Toyota's Century ... hmmm...
