    I love fougeres and this is a very nice list. I would have included MFK Masculin Pluriel. One of the best modern fougeres IMO.

  • @JT-rx1eo

    I have full bottles of all those, with the exception of Scandal and Le Barbier de Tanger of which I have decants. All very solid. I wore New York Intense by Parfums de Nicolai this past Sunday (my Fougere day), and I'm wearing a layering of Russian Leather by Memo and Mr. Blass by Bill Blass today. Russian Leather is a Leather Fougere and Mr. Blass is a very, very, very nice under-the-radar cheapie Fougere-like fragrance (no lavender listed).
    I'm a stickler for the word "fougere" being used promiscuously. It might be "malleable" but not to the extent FragCom bangs it around. I wouldn't call a surreal painting Impressionism just like I wouldn't call Polo Green or Roja Elysium a Fougere. Impressionism has the 1888 painting Impression Sunrise by Monet as its prototype, and the Fougere has the 1882 Houbigant Fougere Royale as its prototype. All of yours were fougeres with Scandal and Xeryus being probably the least so and most questionable. It's a dominant lavender-coumarin accord that pretty much defines the fougere.

    NY Intense is pretty beautiful.
    And what can I possibly say about Fougere Royale? It's the King of Men's Frangrances to me. ❤❤❤❤
    I would also include Bois Du Portugal, one of my most favourite fragrances of all times (and I know about you too 😁).
    The second one I'll include is Viride by Orto Parisi. Has become an instant love for me, as well as one of my top 5.

    Nice picks! My favorite 10 fougeres atm are (no particular order): Lancome Hypnose Homme, Guerlain Heritage (EDT), Lalique Pour Homme (EDP), Cartier Pasha (EDT), Aramis Tuscany, Dior Sauvage Elixir, Jacomo de Jacomo, Mauboussin Homme, Loewe Esencia Pour Homme (EDT) and Amouage Beach Hut Man that de facto is a fougere made without the classic fougere notes: mint instead of bergamot, ivy instead of lavender and myrrh instead of coumarin. It's like if the fougere genre was born in Arabia and not in France. A reinterpretation. Cheers!

      Sauvage Elixir? Personally I wouldn’t place that in this category as I find it very spicy and on my skin I don’t really get the green freshness.

    • @andreidanielpetre
      @andreidanielpetre ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rossmarshall4947 I find it like a modernized, more beefy and more upscale Drakkar Noir. DN is also very spicy and shave foam/soap-like. Remember that barbershop is a sub-genre of the fougere family. Not all fougeres are barbershops, but all barbershops in the French style are fougeres.

  • @zazenh

    Hey Dan, your fougere fragrances have reignited my passion for them. I was just also inspired by Sebastian's (the perfume guy) recommendation of Pasha CartierParfum as a barbershop choice. You need the check this one out if you haven't! Although it doesn't have lavender, it does have a lavender calming feel. It's also warm and regal. And as always Gravitas is one of my go to's. 👌

    For those in North America, another TH-camr recently turned me onto what he considers to be a great alternative to Fougere Royale - Hawthorne's Spicy and Aromatic Barbershop (Play). Also by Rodrigo, I hear it's quite similar. Currently still a decent discount on the website too. For those looking for a great clone of Rive Gauche Pour Homme - De Flore from Athena Fragrances. Sebastian was totally right about that one. God bless Santa-Self. 😂 He's so kind to me. 🎄

      I could have phrased it differently, but let's be honest. You're starting to sound a lot like Jeremy always talking about Fragrance one and office for men. I'm a daily viewer, well-versed in your brand, as all your other viewership, we all know your products, and their perfumer. There's no need for constant repetition.

      If I have a brand and am running a sale then of course I will mention it in every single video I release during that sale. It would be idiotic not to. The sale has been hugely popular and successful and we have tons of happy customers who got a great deal. My promoting it takes up but a few seconds of the video. Furthermore it is totally transparent that I co-own the brand. I fail to see how any reasonable person living in the real world could object to this. Thank you for your comment. I welcome the debate.
