Hi, I followed your exact steps, however when I paste the path location in the browser the file numbers are out of order. I've got more than 2000 files that I want to rename in numerical chapter order. When I follow your method, only the first file changes. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Please help.
@@justinejohannes6747 When I followed the steps as seen in my video, it works as shown. I did not skip any steps when doing this. One thing that is tricking is selecting the cells, please see the steps again and pause between them as it does work.
I will try again, but could it be that there are too many numbers and that I have to rename the numbers differently as I've got more than 2000 files.@@selmateacher7
I can't believe that your classes are offered free!!. I learned so much from just watching your videos !!!! Thank you always, Mr. Berry. You are a wonderful teacher!! and funny too.
those who wants to change extension ....use same names both time and change extension whatever u want.....if its not working because u have spaces between ur file name for example: the marvel solution: try putting " before name - "the marvel"
i know what's wrong now, there is a space in my file name so the code cannot be identified correctly, any solution if the file name has a space without removing the space in batch? thanks.
Try again, as I just tried the steps on my windows PC and they worked. I also use these steps in my classroom and most students are able to get it the first try. So, I hope you try again and I hope for your success. I am here to help.
Hey, I have found that if new new file name has spaces it doesn't work... For instance I want to rename "Excel.pdf" to " Excel My PDF" the CMD file doesn't work.. Any solution for that?
Had a similar issue. The fix is to add quotations to the front and end of the content being captured in that cell. So using your example any field (original or new) should contain quotations and read as "Excel My PDF".pdf... hope this helps!
@@xixBorn2Ripxix Yes, found it!! But if your rename files have certain characters such as "/" in particular, it hasn't worked. I just had to replace the client coordinates from a "/" to a "space", and got away with it! Other special characters such as "-" "()" caused no problem!!
Please check to make sure you have added the spaces. We do this in my class and it works, but if a student does not add the correct spaces, then it gives that error.

You can plug your phone into your Windows PC and then rename them using the method shown in the video.

I am sorry to hear of the difficulty. But it should work with or without space in the new names, as I use spaces often.

@@90skidashish That makes sense. Windows doesn't allow many characters in file names. Glad it worked out for ya.
At the last step while clicking cmd file it shows the error ...syntax of the command is incorrect
Please check to make sure you have added the spaces. We do this in my class and it works, but if a student does not add the correct spaces, then it gives that error.
Mine too
did not change in mine i did all the things correct
I am sorry to hear that. This method does work, as I just tested it again on my Windows 11 PC.
Seems familiar
Yes, we use this method in my computer class.
