Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉
At first glance you could think this is about them being proud and happy with themselves, about confidence. I don't think that is it though. The album is called VersuS VillainS, which makes me think it is not this simple. So I believe this song is meant as a criticism of narcissism, vanity, materialism and also (maybe) the fast fashion industry. "OOTD" stands for "Outfit of the Day" after all, maybe it's about useless instagram fashion-influencers posting videos of their outfit of the day, which also promotes fast fashion.
The fact that fashion is moving ever faster makes it the most destructive industry to the planet only outdone by the fossil fuel industry. The Aral lake has all but disappeared because of the cotton industry for example. It would fit to the Villain image, and you can see in the MV that they are acting. It is shown in the scene where Yoohyeon and Handong are fighting, but then the camera is off and Handong helps Yoohyeon up.
The main reason why I don't think it is about confidence or their own success is the line "Driving on the highway, drunken everyday, do you feel like a monster?" and the album title. That just doesn't fit. And there was the ymenehcra (arch enemy backwards) account posting about touching a crown is dangerous and other cryptic messages before the comeback.
It could also be a big and well-hidden F*U to the Kpop industry, like the Nightmare arc probably was. The narcissism and materialism is definitely criticized here, and Dreamcatcher have been criticized a lot themselves because of their rock/metal concept, while other groups have been celebrated for using a guitar riff once in a song. And Handong standing in front of the camera with bruises all over her legs seems to be a comment on the merciless industry as well.
The music is highly interesting as well. The Rock is dirty and distorted. The song structure is not what you'd expect at all, for me it is funk rock meets K-Pop. Not their usual spiel, but a very good progression. It takes a couple of listens to really appreciate it.

The funny part of OOTD is when you realize that it's actually a critic to narcissism, materialism and superficiality, that's why we see the editing stuff, the acting part right after the first chorus, the lyrics "do you feel like a monster" in the rap part, and so on.

Hey! Thanks for checking out Dreamcatcher and welcome to the Dreamworld. I'm not sure how familiar you are with Dreamcatcher but I thought I'd give you guys a quick overview since you liked OOTD.
Dreamcatcher are known as the "Face of Rock in K-Pop" as dubbed by Rolling Stone India. They're a very unique group in the industry as they always incorporate rock and metal instrumentation in their title tracks (and some b-sides). Don't let that fool you though, they have one of the most diverse discographies of any group in music with R&B, EDM, Trap, Funk, Rock, Metal, Pop, Jazz, Reggae, Ballads, and more in their discography.
They have really elaborate storylines with many of their title tracks making up different trilogies or series. At the moment they have 4 main storylines, the Nightmare series, Dystopia trilogy, Apocalypse trilogy, and Versus duology (of which OOTD is the first part). They also have several title tracks that are not tied to an overarching storyline.
They debuted in 2017 on January 13th (A Friday) which means they just celebrated their 7th anniversary earlier this year. They renewed their contracts over a year early at the end of 2022 and they did the renewal together as a group. They did it together to signify their commitment and love for each other, for what they do, and for their fans (InSomnia).

Jiu - Leader, lead dancer, lead vocalist, visual. In OOTD she has longer black hair and was the one who said "I'm Venus, Nephthys Call me a Goddess"
Sua - Main dancer, lead rapper, vocalist. In OOTD she has longer black hair and was the one on the motorcycle towards the beginning.
Siyeon - Main vocalist. In OOTD she is the one with the red hair and was on the green car at the beginning.
Handong - Vocalist, Chinese member. In OOTD she is the one with blond hair.
Yoohyeon - Lead vocalist. In OOTD she had the blue hair.
Dami - Main rapper, lead dancer, vocalist. In OOTD she had the blueish tint to her hair and had the rap section. You'll usually find her starting off the 2nd verse in their title tracks.
Gahyeon - Maknae, lead rapper, vocalist. In OOTD she had the pastel pink hair.
They just announced a comeback for July 10th with the EP Virtuous and the title track Justice. This will be the continuation of the Versus duology which seems to deal with parallel universes. There's an ongoing Alternate Reality Game (ARG) that fans are able to interact with and discover new clues during and after the promotion period.
I hope you'll check out their new EP when it drops and give their Discography a listen. It's pretty amazing.
