    That new growth looks great! I have a tiny little tree I have kept in a pot for years. It loses all of its leaves every winter, but comes back in the spring. So you will probably want to cover it with a frost blanket. Thank you for giving us your source -- Rivers of Provision. It looks like they have a great selection of mangoes.

    I am in Central fl zone 9b.Mine had been in the ground since 2020 and it's a slooooow grower.
    Mine also has mineral differency as well.
    I bought mine as 3 gal from a Nursery.

      Same here.
      It didn’t go at all until I added a cup of soil sulfur, it went from yellow green to deep mango green in 2 weeks and now it’s sending up new growth.

      @@TropicalGardenGuy I was thinking it liked a bit of acidic soil so I meant to pick up some fine pine bark mulch at a Nursery but it has been 95 degrees of late. The heat is killin me.

      Thanks , Yea to be honest, While I had tasted Mangosteen many years ago, I figuired it way to sensitive for z9b, but when I heard about Achacha, I figuired it worth a try. If it dont work out, I’m only out $100. lol

    Give it regular (fortnightly) soaks with seaweed solution then cover with a frost blanket or a throw (light poly fleece blanket) on cold nights below 45F. Have a great microclimate spot there so it's quite well protected giving the tree an added layer of protection.

    • @TropicalGardenGuy
      @TropicalGardenGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea up against the wall offers it some protection. Donno how hardy they are, but if they are at least as hardy as the mango 10 ft away , it should do ok.
      Are you saying that they get “chilled “ at temps below 45f like Breadfruit?

    • @jimr4354
      @jimr4354 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TropicalGardenGuy Keeping any tropical tree warm is the no.1 priority. Whether that's wind protection, keeping it on the dry side in winter or just keeping the plant tougher using seaweed extract (increases the cell walls so provides better cold tolerance). I've found it's not so much the temperatures below 45F that matter (it's just 1 of the factors) but the amount of time that it's cloudy, wet and cold. Even if it's sunny and only 60F, that's so much better than the same temp and cold,wet and windy. I liken it to wearing a T shirt on a sunny day like that in a protected position (like yours) compared to that on a cold and wet day. Be wearing sweaters etc. I think that's 1 reason that you're so successful. Your risk factor is freezing nights while many others have all of the other factors influencing their success rate.

    I got a cheap achacha that had lots of yellowing. I'm in 9b alkaline Phoenix so we need our iron Cheated. I cut some soil gashes and slid some iron down unmixed and it greened up nicely.
